Kid friendly beginner animes

I'm legally blind and in my teenage years, desperately wanted to watch anime but literally caused myself to go fully blind for days at a time with migraines from trying to watch with subs. Last year my husband was like, let's try AOT. I'm like, "no I can't stand bad dubs and you know I can't watch subs". He's like nah, they got amazing proper dubs nowadays. And that's it, I was in hook line and sinker. I have binged a fair few and my watch list is miles longer (largely assisted by my lurking here 😂)

But now I'm in search of an anime to watch with my siblings (11 & 13). They Havnt watched any before, love superheros and recently got into Harry Potter & Star wars respectively. They stay over with us a couple of times a month and I want to find something to watch together to see if I can get them to fall in love with it too.

There's a lot of family drama, one parent being a manipulative, alienating asshole because the other has finally had the courage to walk away. I'm trying to find something we can bond over, but want to get too emotionally deep initially and scare them off.

Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are all shows aimed at the younger demographic (10-18). You could also just try Pokémon.

While what is considered kid-friendly is up for debate, "Anne Shirley" is the most family-friendly anime I have ever seen. Monica Flatley was amazing as Anne in the simuldub that can be found on CR.

If you want with dub and good and for that age i can recommend Beelzebub and Katekyou hitman reborn, the latter has a bit more violence but not gore or extreme violence.

There are tons of anime that are good for young adults (which is where I'd classify 11 & 13). As others have said, Anne Shirley is a good one, My Hero Academia is another good one though it does sometimes explore deeper themes like death, grief, and loss so ymmv, pretty much any of the Digimon and Pokemon anime are good as well.

Literally anything from Ghibli. They have an amazing quality movies. I recommend watching "Princess Mononoke" and "Spirited Away".

Mashle Muscles and Magic is rated PG13, Wisteria Wand and Sword is rated PG14, and Secrets of the Silent Witch is PG13, and all fulfill the Harry Potter theme The Morose Mononokean is pretty kid friendly and moderately supernatural, falling into the same category as Kamisama Kiss for slice of life. I recommend Dr. Stone for a sci fi anime, but it does have some cursing (nothing worse than they hear in school, honestly) and some heavier themes related to war (again, nothing worse than they learn about in school). Magical girl animes like Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew can fulfill the child friendly sci fi theme

Thank you. It is on my list. Honestly I wish there were 10 more hours in a day so I could catch up on the last 15-20 years of anime. I'm actually ridiculously happy to be able to access them now.
