Personally, I love the anime. It has its flaws, but it's a very fun ride.

It does have an anime-original ending and doesn't cover a significant chunk of the manga. I've heard fans of the manga shit on the anime's ending, but I enjoyed it and haven't read the manga myself.

For the love of god, read it. Half of the anime is anime original and it's so ass that not only it ruined Soul Eater for me but every work by Atsushi Ohkubo (yeah I know the anime original content was not his fault but it was THAT bad)

It’s a fun little ride, I haven’t read the manga, but that’s not really relevant given I ended up having a fun time just watching the show and not really caring or knowing what is anime only or not.

Its been a long while since i watched it but i feel like it should be watched just cause if nothing else its such a ride.

I'll say that the anime isn't terrible, but the manga was *so*~ much better. And who knows, maybe once Fire Force ends the studio will start on a remake.

Soul eater is amazing. Very unique and cool characters. The anime felt rushed though and I've heard that Manga was better.

90% of the time the manga is better. But just do both.

Soul Eater dos the classic Bones thing of just making up an ending if the manga is still running so you really want to be reading the manga until they remake it.

That said, manga never got a song stuck in your head

Endings are very different the anime ending is kinda trite but I still really enjoyed the show overall it's definitely worth watching

It's worth watching up to the point that it goes fully anime original, and then you can just switch to the manga. Honestly, I think even the manga ending was just okay, but the anime original ending is so ass that you're still better off switching over.

iirc, the point you should switch over is some time around when they introduce a character named "BJ" but it was so long ago that I don't remember the details (or if that's even correct).

While the animation was good, by deviating from the manga it missed out on the best fight between Black Star and Mifune.
