Hello Everyone. Need suggestions
Hello guys. Assalam o Alaikum. I’ve watched many anime series, but two seasons really stood out to me: Monster and Vinland Saga. I’m not exactly sure what genre they fall into, but what I loved most about them was how realistic and grounded they felt. There wasn’t unnecessary fiction or fantasy, just deep characters, psychology, and real human struggles.
If you know similar anime or series with the same kind of realism and depth, please drop your recommendations. I’d love to watch more like these.
Thankyou.

Vinland Saga, but I consider it two sides of the same coin.
I don’t want to get into it but Kaneki’s mental evolution through that season was epic, and heavily grounded in reality, despite their world being different than ours. Season 2 is good, despite what some manga purists would tell you, but it does lose its touch with cliche character development for Kaneki in season 3 as well as the manga. Watch season 1 and 2 and call it. If you want more keep going but it’s not the same. 1 is def worth it tho and it leads right into 2. There’s a very big “break” between 2 and 3 where you can just stop outright.
There is a fantasy aspect of it, but it is def not “heavy” like a fantasy dragon world. It takes place in modern day Tokyo.
- [**Haibane Renmei**](https://myanimelist.net/anime/387/Haibane_Renmei): In the village of Old Home, a group of winged beings wearing halos known as Haibane live secluded in a home of their own while mingling with the common people during the day. The story follows the young Haibane Rekka after she is born from a coccoon.
- [**Gankutsuou**](https://myanimelist.net/anime/239/Gankutsuou): A great adaptation of the classic The Count of Monte Christo story. While it takes its fair share of liberties, it nonetheless remains an impressively faithful take on perhaps the greatest revenge story ever told.
- [**Dororo**](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37520/Dororo): Having been sacrificed to 12 demons by his father in exchange for a rich and prospering country, the baby Hyakkimaru is left as a child without a body and barely survives in the artificial body a skilled puppeteer crafted for him. Having grown up, he is now on the hunt for those 12 demons in order to retrieve the body parts they stole from him.
- [**Macross Plus**](https://myanimelist.net/anime/474/Macross_Plus): A short and tight story revolving around human relationships and artificial intelligence, it's difficult to describe this story without giving all of it away. While it's part of the larger Macross franchise, this entry can be treated as a stand-alone, and the rest of the franchise doesn't match your request that well anyway.
I also happen to be a huge fan of Gankutsuou and all the realistic character dynamics and driving emotions.
