I feel like the anime industry saw the “2026 is the new 2016” trend and took that personally.
Haven’t been this excited for so many new releases since… well 2021, but that’s besides the point.

This film, *The World is Dancing, Sparks of Tomorrow, Jaadugar*, and *We Are Aliens* are at the top of the list (though who knows when that last one’s gonna come out), but there’s also *The Camphorwood Custodian*, the currently airing *Fate/Strange Fake*, the just released *Cosmic Princess Kaguya* (that I need to get to), and a bunch of other smaller projects that don’t have quite enough material out for me to feel entirely confident in them, but at absolutely keeping an eye on. That’s not mentioning some pretty notable sequels, both this season and beyond.

Dearth of good stuff. Off the top of my head I can really only say Rakugo Shinjuu, Flip Flappers, and Sangatsu no Lion stood the test of the time. Maybe Mayoiga for the infamy and the experience of watching a trainwreck

Either way, these are just my personal opinions to begin with. I just personally didn't really like 2016 as a year compared to other years in anime and distinctly remember dooming about it back then.
