Should I watch One Piece or Demon Slayer next?

My concern is that One Piece is long and although I prefer long ones I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I hear mixed reviews and with Demon slayer I’m not sure if it’s good or just overhyped. What do you all think?

If you choose one piece, use One Pace. It cuts out around 500-600 eps worth of non Canon garbage. Plus the pacing is way better, and it's a better watch since it doesn't end the episodes at horrible times.

Wrong. It's perfect. Dressrosa is the only arc that has bad cuts. Otherwise it cuts only non Canon garbage.

I know abt both and demon slayer last 2 seasons are genuine trash and one peice is like top 10 anime of all time but you def need extremely high patience

I would recommend One Piece with all my heart. But I’m actually recommend watching first DemonSlayer so you can join the hype train for the movies.

Well do you want to watch a show that’s 1100 episodes and not finished or one that only has a few seasons and is close to done. Both anime’s are fantastic, I’d personally opt for one piece because it truly is like decades of anime.. literally you will like slowly see the animations improving, audio improving etc every few hundred episodes. The nostalgia is so good 🙂‍↕️

I’ll never forget finishing the last ep of sky island and the very next episode which would be the 1st ep in the water 7 arc had such a drastic jump in animation quality that I got jump scared. Then they played Kokoro no chizu for the opening. That was when I fell in love with one piece, I liked it from ep 1 but that moment was when I truly became a fan

Demon Slayer is not overhyped, its that good. It gets better and better as it goes. Haven't watched One Piece yet so I can't say.

What? Really? Im shocked to hear that actually. Why is that? I think the series is a masterpiece, it not only has incredible battles but the messages it has are very impactful as well. And may I ask If there is a reason to call it monotonous garbage? Does the series receive hate in general? The main reason Im watching anime is because I learn from them a lot. Although the messages it has are not very deep and not very specific, the way they are shown is beautiful.

I can say in my experience that I’m so glad I decided to start it last year, I wish I started sooner but now that I’m almost caught up I’m glad I was able to binge everything, I couldn’t imagine waiting weekly for those episodes 😭 but one person who convinced me to watch it used to say it’s like you’re going on a journey with the crew and that is the best way to describe it tbh. Coming from someone who said they’d never watch one piece I’m a huge fan now and luffy is one of my favorite characters in fiction now

I started loving one piece at water 7 (start at episode 227), but patience will be rewarded with one piece. Demonslayer is very enjoyable too, some of the best animation sequences + with an easily comprehensible story.

But I'd suggest One Piece. With the current geopolitical situations and the role One Piece has taken in protests it might get banned in certain countries. Also there is no shame in watching the One Pace.

One Piece has 1155 episodes and several movies. That's at least 462 hours (or 20 full days) of anime.

Demon Slayer has 55 episodes total. That's mere 22 hours, or barely less than a day.

If you want you can first finish all of Demon Slayer in a week, then spend the rest of the year watching one piece.

Demon Slayer is a far better anime btw. No filler, much better pacing, much higher animation budget.

I gotta disagree when you say demon slayer is a better anime than one piece, like by a lot. And this is coming from someone who just started watching one piece March 2025 and it’s infinitely better than demon slayer. One piece has better storytelling, insane world building, character interactions and development. Then you have really hype aura moments and really good clashes. Out of 1155 episodes there are less than 100 filler episodes. The only real bad thing about one piece is the terrible pacing. But even with that, there were only a few times where I started to get impatient (luffy vs katakuri). Btw I’m still not even caught up I’m on ep 1114 there were days when I watched 20 eps and some days I only watched 2-3 it’s like going on a journey once you start watching, there’s honestly no other anime like it

You saying "less than 100 filler episodes" like it's a good thing is wild. That's 40 hours of filler.

One piece is a better manga, and it's not even close. I'm talking about Mona Lisa vs a bathroom graffiti level of difference. One Piece has better characters, better art style and a far more interesting world.

But as anime it's infinitely worse. One Piece suffer from every problem of long running shounen shows of 2000s. Where they try to fill as much of screen time as possible with as little material as possible, so they won't catch up to the manga too fast. We are talking about filler, every scene lingering for 3x more than it should, etc.

And don't get me started on 4Kids "localization", which is a travesty.

Demon Slayer adaptation, on the other hand, is a masterpiece.

That ratio is a good thing, great actually there’s no way you’re saying that’s bad compared to other anime’s like Naruto, modern anime’s got rid of that problem

Both are good and have their merits. One Piece is long and dated in the beginning but it’s good from the first episode with great humor and fights imo. Demon Slayer has great animation and fights, but it is very cut and dry and just basic as shit. It’s still good.

You should watch both if you want, or don’t. It’s up to you and as you can see by the comments, it’s divided.
