Ok, my wife and I need help, but hang in there bc this is going to ramble. We watched a series on Crunchyroll a while back and note we can’t remember the name of it. The first two episodes involved a woman who was traveling with a young monk. The monk always complains about being hungry. The two visit a pub where it turns out the cooks are some sort of shape shifting frog demons. After she dispatches them, she discovers a fox who assumes that she will kill him. We then get the fox’s backstory which is that he was the friend of a young boy in a military camp. The boy saves the fox from being hunted, they grow close, then the boy has to leave the camp. The fox becomes human and tracks the boy, now a man down, only to discover that he has become a ruthless warlord. Blah blah blah, he owes a debt and maybe dabbled in dark magic to help turn the man’s destiny away from evil. It gets hazy but the fox has damaged himself to help the man and is corrupted. I think the woman grudgingly helps him and then moves on. She considers ditching the young monk in the next city they visit but ends up traveling with him further.

Anyone have the name of this series after this rambling account? Thanks in advance!
