Hi! I’ve reasently watched kill bill again and really loved the anime scenes. Do any of you have any recommendations for an anime movie/ series that has that exact art style and aesthetics, in terms of cinema and pace?

The latest episode of jujutsu Kaisen lol

I’m totally new to anime. Can I watch that episode alone or will I need more context?
hanmkim2026-01-23 08:27
The episode itself is a girl getting revenge on the clan that treated her like garbage all her life because she had no special abilities and is almost entirely fight scenes. You could probably enjoy it without the context but the dialogue and abilities would be confusing because curse techniques and energy are confusing even for the sorcerers themselves.

Oh okay, thanks!:)

You probably could watch that episode alone. It won't entirely make sense (as someone who struggles to remember which character is which between seasons, it barely made sense to me), but the high quality of the animation should be enough to carry it.
The whole show is worth watching, though.
SuperTeamRyan2026-01-23 08:33
The episode has some story which is relatively self contained and you'd probably be able to follow most of what's going on but there's some world/setting things that may not make sense.
You can watch it for the animation, and I recommend watching the series even if season 1 isn't up to he same caliber as season 2 or the Movie.

When that scene started playing I was like, no fucking way, crazy 88!!!

The timing of your post couldn’t be any better. Literally the latest season of Jujutsu Kaisen has a scene inspired from Kill Bill.

I just watched the ep 4 and someone in the comments mentioned kill bill I searched movie looks good. Next I open reddit the first post I see is this.

Man if you haven’t seen kill bill yet you need to fix that asap. I got lucky and got to see it again when it was back in theaters this December.
It’s probably in my top 5 movies of all time.

Honestly it’s so perfect I wouldn’t be surprised if OP was trolling, they’re in for such a treat

Latest episode of jujustu kaisen season 3 episode 4 "perfect preparation" 🔥

as others have said, the new jjk ep is a direct homage. however, if you're looking for similar aesthetics, I'd recommend afro samurai. also, the character designer for that segment went on to make one of my personal favorite anime movies, Redline!

I’ll give them a watch! Thank you🙏

I didn't know that, I just recommended it, too

The animation in Kill Bill was directed by Katsuhito Ishii, known for Redline, with anime studio Production I.G. known for Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass, Jin-Rou, and the Patlabor movies.

Kill Bill's iconic animated sequence (The Origin of O-Ren) was primarily inspired by the 2001 Indian psychological thriller Aalavandhan (titled Devas>> in Hindi), starring Kamal Haasan, which featured intercut animated violence; however, Tarantino's style in the scene also pays homage to violent anime and manga, a genre he loves, with the actual animation produced by Japanese studio Production I.G.

Exact? No. In terms of the fighting and gore? Shigurui: Death Frenzy. Afro Samurai has some reminiscence to the Kill Bill animated scenes, iirc, but it's been many years since I've seen it. Edit: just read one of the directors was the Kill Bill director
Others have commented that the director is responsible for some famous stuff, like Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass (S1 is legendary and S2 is pretty good), etc.

Blood: The Last Vampire.
met a woman who had a tattoo of anime o-ren ishii and i confused it with the girl from BTLV so visually i’d say it looks similar. thematically quite different, but the tone isn’t that far off.
