As I expected from this episode especially. This is also Anime Corner list, not reddit.

JJK is the more mainstream series and it was a highly anticipated episode for a specific character full of action and Anime Corner also leans towards popular action series.

The gap between the top 2 isn't even that wide either tbh.

If you like romcoms, definitely. The MCs have some of the best chemistry together in anime. They are really well written, acted and animated. The show also doesn't beat around the bush, which I appreciate

Edit: I watched it and... I'd say I enjoyed 1&2 episodes more than 3rd. Animation is good, but the action is not, a bit repetitive. The King is truly a king and Theoritta is cute as always.

Speaking personally: EP1 introduced some great and interesting concepts. It set a great stage for a 10/10 experience.

EP2 started to feel a bit samey.

EP3 is now just EP2 again? We have *no* development. Crew enters area. People hate crew. Crew fights minions. Goddess whines to be used, gets shut down. Oh no, we're being overrun. Goddess, sure, make swords. Yay! Some of the people still hate us and some are okay. Let's move on next week.

The anime needs to move the plot along FAST. It was \~30 minutes of extremely predictable moments because it just repeated discussions we had both prior episodes.

Edit: Lawl at you nerds. I give a personal take and get downvoted. I'm not shitting on you loving the episode. Enjoy it! I didn't.

Agreed. First episode was really good and I was hoping for another at least decent title. But it's getting tiresome that heroes are only good characters in anime. And strong. And noble. Everything is so exaggerated it's hard to watch sometimes. For example how knights are so arrogant yet completely helpless all the time.

The noble king part was pretty good actually. Him inspiring miners despite being mad and outcast was pretty cool moment l. But when protagonist started throwing swords at infinite waves of same monsters, I felt bored to death and just closed it.

As someone who doesn’t like the show, I think the villains/monsters are lame and the whole show just seems low quality when actively comparing it to JJK, Frieren, Hells Paradise.

Like the characters and plots in those other shows are just way better developed, way more interesting. Its hard to watch those and then put sentenced to be a hero on after and act like it isn’t a massive drop off.

I would take Anime Corner anime of the week results with a grain of salt for Thursday anime... There's nowhere near a large enough time window for lots of people to reliably watch the episode and then vote since the votes are tallied at the start of the very next day. My guess is that what we're seeing here is mostly the results for ep 2 the same way it was probably only that high last week because of ep 1.

Its not about the show itself but rather the quality of its competitors. Tamon-kun for example was a genuine surprise for me (only tried it out this week). It showcases the best shoujo has to offer, adapted into anime format (optimistic mc, boundaries being respected, genuine comedy, etc).

Fate strange fake ep outside of the top 10 despite its insane animation too, i know its hard series to get into. but it was EASILY a top 3 episode last week. imo only losing to JJK's Maki ep in this regard.

Fate is a series with a bunch of other anime series, movies, etc... so it'll seem overwhelming at first. Just know order doesn't matter too much you'll piece things together over time. It's mainly known for its fights and absurdly good animation regardless of studio. Feel free to start with the currently airing one or go back and watch any that seem interesting.

Yeah you're fine. Strange Fake is a love letter to the Fate series with references big and small to a pretty majority of Fate works, but it's not necessarily required to have watched them. It takes place like 5 years after Stay Night so Fate/Zero, FSN and bits and pieces of El Melloi have happened.

UBW and Zero are the bare min needed to understand Strange Fake, although i'd say watching the movie trilogy (The Heaven's Feel movies) is also on that list, other than that you don't *need* to watch or play any other series however having knowledge from other Type-Moon works (not just Fate) enhances the experience of Strange Fake.

I'd say give it a go, it's really good.

If you're curious btw what the other series i'd recommended are i'll happily share but i'm not about to unload all of that in this comment lol.

Fates long history is both its greatest strength (along with the entire Nasuverse) as well as its greatest roadblock lol.

like its got an amazing about of stories and tons of great entries, but english speaking audiences have gaslit themselves through memes that getting into Fate is like trying to get into marvel or dc comics or that you need a PHD to understand things when its just so simple.

Despite being a big Type Moon fan the show isn't really doing much for me yet. By the end of episode 1 of FSN or FZ you had someone to be invested in, I literally do not give a single fuck about any member of the cast yet. Cool action isn't enough to carry the show for me just yet.

I don't think not being used to the author's writing style is a valid defense of a series, you should be able to pick up an anime and get into it even if you don't 100% get it right away. So far there's just not much to really be invested in I guess.

It doesn’t help the anime skips all the backstory for now so there’s literally no reason to care for most people, since it relies on immediate character writing and dynamics you can see. If you’re a TM fan I feel the only one you could find interesting so far is Ayaka if you’ve read FHA, not exactly rootable yet but at least found interesting to continue.

I know I might not do a good job at defending it but the novels are really great and the anime is really trying to adapt it so I’ll hope you’ll find the enjoyment in later eps

Depends on your tastes. If you like things like CSM, Demon Slayer (action on the darker side), you’ll enjoy it. If you don’t, it probably won’t change your mind. Not hot garbage by any means, but it gets a lot of flak on these forums cause the taste generally leans away from Battle Shonens.

It pains me to see Shibou Yuugi so low in the rankings, especially since its third episode is at least top 3 in my opinion. The plot is much more interesting and gives backstory to a secondary character like Mishiro, exploring his psychology and the change in Yuuki's personality, which will be very interesting to see in the next episode because of how they handle it.

In the case of Sentenced to be a Hero, I'm not surprised by its drop in the rankings, because to be honest, the plot doesn't feel like it's progressing at all. Most of the characters are very clichéd, and at most, they have one or two generic action scenes against monsters. The main character is still a tsundere, and the loli goddess is more of the same.
