Huh, this is a tough one, the anime is actually brilliant except for when it goes off on its own tangent. Having consumed both i'd say watch the anime then read the manga. I think you're suppose to stop watching at episode 36 and then pick up the appropriate manga chapter.

D-Gray Man just stick with the manga imo as for Yuyu, I missed out on that so I can't say.

soul eater, anime, through to mid 30's or so then switch..or you can finish and if you not satisfied..read manga.

D.gray-man..I mostly did anime and siwtched to manga..but i never finished manga..i think its ongoing.

as far as YYH, i never read the manga, i was perfectly happy with anime only.

I strongly prefer the anime, I did both back in the day and while the manga goes on beyond where the anime ends that chunk of it is also kind of just not particularly good or interesting. The anime adaptation also injects a lot of style and energy into the proceedings while the manga especially early on looks pretty rough.

Manga for soul eater, the anime ends before the manga did. At the very least, watch the anime then pick up the manga. Death the kid has a great ending in the manga.

D gray man, they are pretty similar but I still preferred the manga. Both are great though. The manga is grittier to me. And it's meant to be in the horror vein, so it works better like that.

the ending isnt "entirely" made up but it definetly alters the original arc in massive ways.

You just stop at around episode 30-35 and then go to the manga preferably the beginning of the arc so it is more consistant when the plot gets moving.

the anime was awesome... up until the ending which was not good at all.

that being said, have you watched fire force? that's worth checking out, and the reason i mention it is because there's a rumor that after the final season (which is airing right now) ends that a soul eater remake (like FMA brotherhood) is going to be announced.

not the first time there's been rumors like that, but ultimately we'll know pretty soon if this one pans out or not.
