Very reasonable list. Apocalypse Hotel top 3 deserved!!!
TermEnvironmental8122026-01-24 00:18
We need at least 1 original anime every year
HarshTheDev2026-01-24 07:38
Hell we need at least 1 flagship original anime every season.
Apart-Parking-61182026-01-24 00:06
honorable mention:
-Dandadan S2
-Apothecary S2
(These 2 sequels probably could've make the list but Garnt doesn't have anything new to say about them)

-Nukitashi the Animation
-Solo Leveling S2
-CSM Reze Arc
-100 Meters
-10. Gachiakuta
-9. Clevatess
-8. Medalist

-6. To Be Hero X
-5. Takopi's Original Sin
-4. Uma Musume Cinderella Gray
-3. Apocalypse Hotel
-2. My Hero Academia Final Season
-1. Orb The Movements of the Earth
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-24 00:21
man i'm cooked, the only show I've seen so far in the top 10 is half of TBHX.
i didn't realize just how much 2025 was the year of sequels for me. and i do intend to watch all but MHA on this list, they're all on my PTW, but i've been putting them off for the "right moment" while watching slop instead.
Went back to check my MAL for 2025 new shows:
- Zenshu 8/10
- I have a Crush at Work 9/10
- Guild Receptionist 6/10
- Welcome to Japan Ms. Elf 7/10
- Red Ranger Isekai 7/10
- NEET Kunoichi 6/10
- Flower and Asura 7/10
- Takamine-san 7/10
- Rock is a Lady's Modesty 8/10
- Watanare 8/10
- Milky Subway 9/10
- AssStats 4/10
- May I Ask for One Final Thing 7/10
- Friend's Imouto 7/10
- Monster wants to eat me 7/10
- Mangaka workplace 8/10
Bruh. what am i doing.
avboden2026-01-24 00:22
I’ve only watched 8,9 and 10.
-Work_Account-2026-01-24 00:32
AssStats is certainly one way to abbreviate an anime title.
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-24 00:33
it's fitting for the quality of the show. idk why i finished that trash. definitely need to drop more shit this year so i can catch up on the backlog
-Work_Account-2026-01-24 00:35
I would rank almost every single one of those the same ratings that I saw, so I'm just going take your word that it's ass.
Glad to see Rock is a Lady's Modesty with that 8 though. Loved that show.
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-24 00:42
nice, glad to find someone with similar taste. and yeah, while there was lots of slop in this list, that was definitely a great time. Tho it's also a reminder I need to get off my ass and finish Ave Mujica, that one was having 10/10 potential but idk why I got too busy then.
MadCybertist2026-01-24 00:41
I disliked 1-3 on the top 10 list haha. Like quite a bit.
Lived 4-10 though.
notathrowaway752026-01-24 00:43
Looking at the ratings seems like you've been watching shows you enjoy for the most part.
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-24 00:58
oh yeah, they're generally enjoyable enough. but there's a lot to criticize too - one thing looking back at this list is that a lot of the 7/10s (or worse) are too one-note.
my general criteria for ratings is that 7s are shows I'd only recommend to fans of that genre (not so much ones with high standards for that genre, but for ppl who eat up that type of show even if its not so great). 8s I'd generally recommend, but still probably wouldn't rewatch.
so i think i need to start treating myself a bit better and stop watching things that i think will be a 7, instead of watching things that I think will be 9-10, which is how I see that top 10 list.
Deruta2026-01-24 02:29
> Crush at Work 9/10
Ah, a connoisseur I see.
theNightblade2026-01-24 00:36
Very happy to see more people acknowledge To Be Hero X. The animation probably can be a turn off but the story is ambitious and tied together really well so far
ArseneLupinIV2026-01-24 00:49
One of my top animations last year just from the shear ambition of the 2D/3D artwork and having like 10 interconnecting main characters all be somewhat compelling. There are some weaker ones and not every story arc was a total hit, but just being able to consistently land almost all of them was super impressive when a lot of shows can barely keep like one story or character compelling. And they haven't even gotten to the proper tournament the show was about. Also the wild visuals of the last episode was like crack.
This Lin Haolin guy being the mind behind this and Link Click is super impressive. Certainly one of the most promising writers in animation out there right now.
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 04:30
At its peak, some of best animation of the year. And it doesn't go down much from there, even when it's not peaking.
The main problem it has is that it loves to reuse scenes
aiman_senpai2026-01-24 06:39
Garnt even went to China and met the producers
Xlegace2026-01-24 00:38
>Cinderella Gray
Peak mentioned.
Castor_0il2026-01-24 00:54
Oguri Cap.
*Cap as in Peak.*
ThMogget2026-01-24 00:40
Solo Leveling S2 is what I am looking forward to.
GGABueno2026-01-24 00:47
Uma Musume waaay too high, Gigguk has good taste but there's always that one trashy show that sneaks in.
I wish that Medalist and Takopii were a bit higher, but I'm very happy about the recognition of others like Orb, MHA and TBHX. What I learned is that I missed out on Apocalypse Hotel.
Apart-Parking-61182026-01-24 00:54
And what's wrong with Uma Musume?
ImpactMiserable93842026-01-24 01:33
Umamusume is great
chi_pa_pa2026-01-24 01:39
Damn, was the MHA finale really that good? Guess I've got some catching up to do.
DrStein10102026-01-24 01:42
Yup.
Though I advise you to wait until the final epilogue OVA comes out in May. There are a couple plot threads that don't get wrapped up until then that might leave you feeling unsatisfied with the ending as is.
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 04:32
The problem is catching up; the middle seasons are mid. Felt like they saved the budget for the movies.
grazi132026-01-24 20:01
The middle seasons are perfectly fine and enjoyable when you can binge. Watching weekly it must have sucked, but for me I had no problem with them when I could just blow past the slow parts
Spending 2 months IRL on a school concert arc must have been torture, but I watched that whole arc in 2 days and thought it was fun and cute.
dododomo2026-01-24 03:48
The summer Hikaru died, Takopi's original sin, Apocalypse hotel, Orb, medalist and Gachiakuta in top 10! 😍
And Dandadan, the apothecary diaries, 100 meters and Chainsaw man movie mentioned too!
ConvolutedBoy2026-01-24 04:06
Clevatess and Apocalypse Hotel caught my eye the most as ones I haven’t see. And, Orb really is that goated innit.
aiman_senpai2026-01-24 06:41
Apocalypse Hotel is bizzare man. Its a slice of life show haha funny robots then BAM existential crisis. It is kinda episodic, so imo there are some eps way better than others. The gigachad exterminator guy episode is my fav
Anarchaeologist2026-01-24 07:09
Episode 11 that was mentioned in the video exists in my mind as THE perfect episode, over and above anything else I've ever seen.
The rest of the series was fun and you never knew what you were in for that week.
veoxyl22026-01-24 04:20
I’ve only watched Gachiakuta, The Summer Hikaru Died and MHA from this list but I’m surprised Gachiakuta is at 10! This was an almost perfect anime to me. It made me read the manga. I can only imagine how good the anime listed above it is! Can’t wait to check it all out :)
Falsus2026-01-24 04:35
I think he likes Cygames.
Understandable, they where probably the best studio of 2025.
Clevatess was mad underrated.
Comprehensive_Rule112026-01-24 14:08
Right! I thought clevatess was better than expected for sure, hadn’t seen it mentioned anywhere since I watched it
garfe2026-01-24 16:38
Cygames is just a really good studio for anime. They were behind Akiba Maid War and that was one of the most original concepts I'd ever seen
koogam2026-01-24 23:27
>Clevatess
Peak mentioned
nahk_js2026-01-24 00:07
There's just something about Gigguk's writing that feels right and comfortable.
Having said that - 100 Meters, The Medalist, Apocalypse Hotel and The Summer Hikaru Died - rightfully gets praised and respected.
I am still hoping (and coping) - some day there will be English dub of Orb, Apocalypse Hotel and Cinderella Grey...
tullbabes2026-01-24 00:23
Gigguk has always been the man.
KFCZingerPies2026-01-24 00:26
For someone on trash taste, he has some pretty good taste.
tullbabes2026-01-24 00:28
Best taste out of the three, I’d say.
Jetzu2026-01-24 12:44
Isn't he the only one of the three that still watches anime regularly?
ShadowKnifing2026-01-25 05:16
No they do, and talk about it regularly on their podcast. But it's Garnt's job so he watches a ton more
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 04:21
He also enjoys dumpster diving tasting, don't forget
detarameReddit2026-01-24 06:30
I think Garnt is probably the one who is most engaged with anime overall, so that makes sense. Joey enjoys works on the esoteric side of things, while Connor is monke.
Garnt watches anime with his heart first and foremost – as reflections of himself, artists, and other people; this meaning that he manages to avoid leaning too far into both mindless hype and "intellectual" works. His analyses of works he likes are rarely elucidating, but always feel grounded and passionate.
ali941272026-01-24 00:07
Can't believe he didn't mention his wife in My Dress-Up Darling season 2.
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 00:19
Great year for anime. To be Hero X? Uhoh this sub doesn’t consider that anime pal
DiezDrake2026-01-24 00:25
I was really excited to see the conversation around this here after watching then noticed its basically taboo lol. I get the reasoning but its a shame its hard to find much reddit discussion on it
dexcss2026-01-24 00:31
Whole subreddit dedicated to it that was/is pretty busy.
DiezDrake2026-01-24 00:37
Checked the chinese "anime" subreddit and didn't see much before. Didn't realize theres an active subreddit exclusive to it (which I just joined).
Still would be nice to see some discussions here, but oh well.
dexcss2026-01-24 00:46
Yeah its super lame that theres no discussion allowed here and the donghua one doesn't really fit what im looking for. TBHX should absolutely be allowed here its stupid.
VeryImportantLurker2026-01-24 02:31
I agree, but then they would need to arbitrarily decide *which* donghuas get approved since they pump out so many of those 3D Wuxia donghuas that it would take up most of the sub lol
Ryboiii2026-01-24 08:13
Any Chinese donghuas that have a Japanese audio option should be considered
Rockstarwithoutplay2026-01-24 00:49
The weekly discussion in the tbhx subreddit was really fun. It is original so nobody knew what was going to happen. I recommend you to check it in the second season
DiezDrake2026-01-24 01:27
Ill definitely be joining in for Season 2! Cant wait for it
Kw328712026-01-24 04:45
Yeah it was unironically a good thing it was banned here lol
HarshTheDev2026-01-24 07:35
I don't like that sub, because people there are *too* dedicated lol. Dissecting every single PV, key art, interview, etc. etc. I felt like i kept getting spoiled for an original show lmao. I would've really liked to see some casual and laid back discussion on r/anime.
Frostbitten_Moose2026-01-24 09:35
Yeah, I ducked my head in there as well and bounced hard because of that. I like the casual level of conversation here where the baseline is only what's in the mainline show.
MiniHurps2026-01-24 01:21
The TBHX subreddit was super active during its run. It was awesome since no one knew what was happening, so the theories/memes went WILD!
Clyde_Llama2026-01-24 02:00
Folded memes got me good when I joined at that time.
Davikas2026-01-24 01:25
Nice!
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 02:24
Most anime have their own subreddit to have discussions, the only issue is that manga spoilers could be issues
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 00:36
Is basically in its own subreddit and that’s all
JonathanAltd2026-01-24 00:38
The dedicated sub had some of the best weekly episode discussions of last year
Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-24 01:26
Because it is not an anime. Donghuas have a separate sub.
Interesting-Ad13522026-01-24 02:03
I was looking forward to the episode threads and discussions, so it was disappointing to find out it was banned from the sub.
It would’ve been more interesting to talk about than some of the stuff we get every season.
Eragonnogare2026-01-24 02:25
Yeah, it was unfortunate. The To Be Hero X specific sub is a lot of fun though, had its own dedicated threads for each episode and stuff.
Interesting-Ad13522026-01-24 03:09
I’ve been part of the sub since before it aired, and it was exciting being there as the episodes dropped, but I like the threads here since they aren’t all from fans of the show so you get a lot of different opinions and perspectives that you wouldn’t usually see on the sub.
Eragonnogare2026-01-24 03:12
Yeah, that's definitely fair - but hey, we work with what we've got.
zairaner2026-01-24 00:20
> Looks at gigguks list.
> looks at our list
yeah maybe we should feel bad.
Kinda surprised he didn't mention milky subway even in the honorable mentions, considering it was probably the show he tried shilling the most in his stream for this video lol.
darkmacgf2026-01-24 03:49
I mean, the lists are extremely similar. Biggest win for Gigguk is if you hate Apothecary Diaries I guess, which I do not.
(no Gachiakuta on reddit list is also a win)
PeaceAlien2026-01-24 00:21
Cinderella is that excellent huh. I watched uma before it’s really good, but it’s time to look into it. I think getting into and quitting the game hurt my interest.
FabioPSBCardoso2026-01-24 00:41
Cinderella gray in on a whole other level when comparing to seasons 1-3, it's legitimately that good
ImSoRyz2026-01-24 00:57
Season 2 of main series is still better imo, but cin grey does have much higher production value
ori-os2026-01-24 01:49
Also pretty hard to compare the two when S2 is a complete story while we still have quite a few seasons of CinGray before it’s complete
Astray2026-01-24 05:59
We have the full story for CinGray already in the manga, it doesn't reach the heights of Season 2 but it is on average better.
BiggieCheeseLapDog2026-01-24 01:21
Nah, its character work is definitely weaker than s2 and the races mean less than they did in s2 narratively.
darkmacgf2026-01-24 03:45
It's okay. I liked S1 a good amount, but it felt pretty repetitive by the time I finished S2.
HorrorMatch73592026-01-24 06:01
Remember. Cingray is adaptation of manga with same name (published one year before game lauch in JP)
garfe2026-01-24 16:36
I really didn't believe under the assumption that it was just fans overhyping the product, but I bit the bullet and started watching all the Uma shows. And I have been completely converted into praising these shows. However, Cinderella Gray absolutely stands out above the rest though. That show is basically just an extreme sports shounen with all the bells and whistles.
GreatAres2712026-01-24 00:22
After it appeared on last year's video, I didn’t expect Orb to show up again, and on first place nonetheless!
If you haven't watched it yet, please go and do yourself a favor, even if it's not your type of show (It even does the 3 ep rule perfectly if you're still unsure)
[deleted]2026-01-24 00:53

GreatAres2712026-01-24 00:54
Dude, spoiler tag that
Crazyripps2026-01-24 00:25
Was a great year for anime.
B_r_y_z_e2026-01-24 00:28
I have such a hard time believing the horse gorl show is good, which is exactly why I’m going to watch it next. Will report back.
DrStein10102026-01-24 00:29
I'm not as hardcore sold on it as a lot of others seem to be, but it's a very solid sports show.
Xlegace2026-01-24 00:37
It's basically a sports manga anime adaptation, very different from Pretty Derby, which is the mainline series, and much much better imo
Urgnu-the-Gnu2026-01-24 02:16
Go in without preconceptions. There are plenty of things you might have heard about the show which can give you an opinion on it based on other things you've seen. Chances are that most of them aren't true though. Meet the show where it's at and give it a chance of convincing you like you'd give any other show, and you might find great enjoyment and something much deeper than it looks.
Just don't start with Pretty Derby S1 and stop watching, it's not representative of the other seasons, the OVA, the movie or the spin-off. Cinderella Grey is a great starting point for many people.
DueSeaworth2026-01-24 09:25
Just pick up cingray, the ova's and the movie. If you want you can go into pretty derby (which was the original series) but be warned its not the same feeling as the newer ones.
garfe2026-01-24 16:42
I was a *hardcore* disbeliever. Straight up "there is no way this trashy looking silly horse show is that good" for years. But then I saw a clip of CinGray and couldn't believe what I was seeing so I had to bite the bullet. I'm 100% converted now and I've also watched all the available anime.
AmusedDragon2026-01-24 00:28
A solid list, I was surprised but happy to see number 3 being Apocalypse Hotel. I thought the show was fantastic, but it didn't seem to reach a ton of people or hit that online discussion like some of the other shows did.
Hopefully people into sci fi / SoL-type anime give it a shot.
bigfndan2026-01-24 00:52
Apocalypse Hotel is so damn good, so much is packed into that show, there's something for everyone.
Xlegace2026-01-24 00:35
Oguri cap, cap as in PEAK
Cinderella Gray is my AoTY so I'm glad to see it get recognition
BadBehaviour6132026-01-24 00:35
"The weakest pencil user is still stronger than the strongest AI" **FACTS**. I'd rather hang a child's drawing over an AI one
Also, Apocalypse Hotel reminds me that while action anime has experienced exponential growth, the viewerbase who watches the other stuff remains the same
NUFC9RW2026-01-24 00:36
Apothecary Diaries out of the top ten is probably the only real controversial choice here.
GGABueno2026-01-24 00:51
Best show of the year for me but it's a sequel that was "more of the same" when compared to season 1 so I guess it's fine to leave out. MHA was the only sequel in the list but that was the final season.
NUFC9RW2026-01-24 01:00
Yeah it was my best show of the year too (and probably a lot of others based on it being the highest rated on MAL of the year). It definitely was more of the same, but that was a good thing.
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-24 01:03
yeah the list just generally isn't for sequels, i didnt watch the MHA section since I didn't watch the show, but I figured he made an exception for a long series finale. Think he might've done the same for AoT too
logicblender12026-01-24 01:04
It's not necessarily out of the top 10, he just doesn't put sequel seasons on his list if there's nothing new to say about them.
VeryImportantLurker2026-01-24 02:38
I found it slightly weaker than season 1 overall. The direction, in general, felt a bit lacking in certain moments (there was nothing on par with the Fengming episode imo), but it had a much better season finale.
However, since it didn't bring much new to the table that season 1 already didn't, it seems fair to keep it in the honorable mentions.
LurkingAsian2026-01-24 00:36
Clevatess made the list!
DrStein10102026-01-24 01:45
Alicia is such a great protagonist.
Galaxy40k2026-01-24 04:16
Honestly one of my favorite protagonists in anime. There's something about her heroism that just feels so.....earned? compared to what you usually see. I find it hard to put the feeling into words, but it's the same feeling I get from Wonder Red from The Wonderful 101
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-24 17:21
Exactly, she displays true heroism. True suffering. A great example for the indomitable human spirit.
mihran1462026-01-24 09:12
And she’s got an eyepatch
koogam2026-01-24 23:30
Absolutely, cleavatess as well, really plays his part.
koogam2026-01-24 23:28
Such a good anime
Nulazanzal2026-01-24 00:38
I always appreciate these yearly videos for promoting lesser known shows, I think Medalist and Apocalypse Hotel are the least known here.
I'll make sure to check Apocalypse Hotel myself, and Medalist season 2 starts tomorrow, there should be more eyes on it for sure.
DefinitelyGiraffe2026-01-24 03:53
I have seen all the classics, and I think Apocalypse Hotel deserves a place alongside Oddtaxi and Champloo as one of the best limited series I’ve seen
Curly4Jefferson2026-01-24 06:00
Definitely would agree putting Apocalypse Hotel with Odd Taxi. Both have so much personality and creativity.

Everyone is bringing up Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man but from what I've been hearing about it 100 Meters seems like the real Oscar snub.
SpecsKingdra2026-01-24 01:37
I think it's a bit over glazed. After my wife and I finished it and we were both like, that was fine. Just fine. The animation was incredible though

I'm a simple man. I see oguri, i upvote
APRengar2026-01-24 00:55
God damn, as a trash taste viewer in the first 2 years, I find it crazy that HeroAca got 2nd place. HeroAca only ever came up for them to dunk on and say "man that show fell off after season 1 (for Joey) / season 3 (for Garnt), what season are they even on now? 4?" When it was already season 6.
Kinda got a chip on my shoulder because the amount of times it'd get brought up, all of them just went "mid, yeah super mid, totally mid" and they moved on. So to see it at least get a modicum of respect feels good.
InfiniteZeke2026-01-24 00:59
It's a pretty good list all things considered. The one glaring omission (not counting sequels) is Ruri Rocks, which is probably the best representation of actual science and the scientific method in anime ever, and might be the best anime that has an educational focus, both in content and visually.
dragondevil322026-01-24 01:03

Don't really like gigguk but can't really argue with him on the top 10. Glad that Apocalypse Hotel made it since it's criminally underrated by way too many people
Setowi2026-01-24 01:31
Oh I was really hoping that Medalist was going to make his list and it did! I did not expect Apocalypse Hotel to be there but it absolutely deserves it as well, what pleasant surprise honestly. Probably two of my absolute favourites of last year.
Kratos_BOY2026-01-24 01:33
Orb is so good. Nowak is a piece of shit that didn't get the horrific death he deserved. It's b3en a long time since I've hated a fictional character the way I hate him.
Clevatess is also very good. Love the outro song.
Axetylen2026-01-24 01:52
I just noticed Cygames Pictures produced three out of Gigguk's top ten this year (Hikaru, Cinderella Grey, Apocalypse Hotel). They really grow really fast.
Falsus2026-01-24 04:38
Best studio of 2025 in my opinion.
Dialgak772026-01-24 14:28
Cygames has always produced quality anime. Shingeki no Bahamut was fantastic.
qwertyqwerty45672026-01-24 02:04

blakeavon2026-01-24 03:20
I’m glad we still have him making great videos, unlike those terrible new Anime Men. I forced myself to watch their collab video but if they are the future of anime content creators, I’d rather just watch Garnt. I may not always agree with his tastes but at least he is thoroughly entertaining, while also knowing how stuff.

I'm happy to see slice of life get an honorable mention, but City just wasn't anywhere near as good as Mono or See You Tomorrow at the Food Court

Did not expect to hear Werner Herzog in a Gigguk video lmao

City only made into honorable mentions? Interesting.
Didn't expect Clevatess to make it to Gigguk's top 10. ApoHotel made it into top 3, love it!

City is great the visuals are amazing but just does not hit the same as Nichijou for me personally. It’s still very good though, year was just kinda stacked.

Both Gigguk and Moist uploaded a video praising Orb today. Love to see more eyes on that amazing show.

Big 3 of frames 😭

Nice list.
My own top list of 2025 would include a fair number of sequels, but even then, I still have *Orb* in the top place. It's just that good. (And to think I almost didn't watch it, if not for some Redditor writing a post about it back when it first started airing!)

Holy shit the writing and delivery is pure fire 🤣🤣🤣
Commentaires
-Dandadan S2
-Apothecary S2
(These 2 sequels probably could've make the list but Garnt doesn't have anything new to say about them)
-City the Animation
-Nukitashi the Animation
-Solo Leveling S2
-CSM Reze Arc
-100 Meters
-10. Gachiakuta
-9. Clevatess
-8. Medalist
-7. The Summer Hikaru Died
-6. To Be Hero X
-5. Takopi's Original Sin
-4. Uma Musume Cinderella Gray
-3. Apocalypse Hotel
-2. My Hero Academia Final Season
-1. Orb The Movements of the Earth
i didn't realize just how much 2025 was the year of sequels for me. and i do intend to watch all but MHA on this list, they're all on my PTW, but i've been putting them off for the "right moment" while watching slop instead.
Went back to check my MAL for 2025 new shows:
- Zenshu 8/10
- I have a Crush at Work 9/10
- Guild Receptionist 6/10
- Welcome to Japan Ms. Elf 7/10
- Red Ranger Isekai 7/10
- NEET Kunoichi 6/10
- Flower and Asura 7/10
- Takamine-san 7/10
- Rock is a Lady's Modesty 8/10
- Watanare 8/10
- Milky Subway 9/10
- AssStats 4/10
- May I Ask for One Final Thing 7/10
- Friend's Imouto 7/10
- Monster wants to eat me 7/10
- Mangaka workplace 8/10
Bruh. what am i doing.
Glad to see Rock is a Lady's Modesty with that 8 though. Loved that show.
Lived 4-10 though.
my general criteria for ratings is that 7s are shows I'd only recommend to fans of that genre (not so much ones with high standards for that genre, but for ppl who eat up that type of show even if its not so great). 8s I'd generally recommend, but still probably wouldn't rewatch.
so i think i need to start treating myself a bit better and stop watching things that i think will be a 7, instead of watching things that I think will be 9-10, which is how I see that top 10 list.
Ah, a connoisseur I see.
This Lin Haolin guy being the mind behind this and Link Click is super impressive. Certainly one of the most promising writers in animation out there right now.
The main problem it has is that it loves to reuse scenes
Peak mentioned.
*Cap as in Peak.*
I wish that Medalist and Takopii were a bit higher, but I'm very happy about the recognition of others like Orb, MHA and TBHX. What I learned is that I missed out on Apocalypse Hotel.
Though I advise you to wait until the final epilogue OVA comes out in May. There are a couple plot threads that don't get wrapped up until then that might leave you feeling unsatisfied with the ending as is.
Spending 2 months IRL on a school concert arc must have been torture, but I watched that whole arc in 2 days and thought it was fun and cute.
And Dandadan, the apothecary diaries, 100 meters and Chainsaw man movie mentioned too!
The rest of the series was fun and you never knew what you were in for that week.
Understandable, they where probably the best studio of 2025.
Clevatess was mad underrated.
Peak mentioned
Having said that - 100 Meters, The Medalist, Apocalypse Hotel and The Summer Hikaru Died - rightfully gets praised and respected.
I am still hoping (and coping) - some day there will be English dub of Orb, Apocalypse Hotel and Cinderella Grey...
Garnt watches anime with his heart first and foremost – as reflections of himself, artists, and other people; this meaning that he manages to avoid leaning too far into both mindless hype and "intellectual" works. His analyses of works he likes are rarely elucidating, but always feel grounded and passionate.
Still would be nice to see some discussions here, but oh well.
It would’ve been more interesting to talk about than some of the stuff we get every season.
> looks at our list
yeah maybe we should feel bad.
Kinda surprised he didn't mention milky subway even in the honorable mentions, considering it was probably the show he tried shilling the most in his stream for this video lol.
(no Gachiakuta on reddit list is also a win)
If you haven't watched it yet, please go and do yourself a favor, even if it's not your type of show (It even does the 3 ep rule perfectly if you're still unsure)
Just don't start with Pretty Derby S1 and stop watching, it's not representative of the other seasons, the OVA, the movie or the spin-off. Cinderella Grey is a great starting point for many people.
Hopefully people into sci fi / SoL-type anime give it a shot.
Cinderella Gray is my AoTY so I'm glad to see it get recognition
Also, Apocalypse Hotel reminds me that while action anime has experienced exponential growth, the viewerbase who watches the other stuff remains the same
However, since it didn't bring much new to the table that season 1 already didn't, it seems fair to keep it in the honorable mentions.
I'll make sure to check Apocalypse Hotel myself, and Medalist season 2 starts tomorrow, there should be more eyes on it for sure.
Kinda got a chip on my shoulder because the amount of times it'd get brought up, all of them just went "mid, yeah super mid, totally mid" and they moved on. So to see it at least get a modicum of respect feels good.
Clevatess is also very good. Love the outro song.
GOATS
