Long shot Anime ID…

So as a kid (born in 1984) I remember this video I can’t seem to find. I’m hoping this community can help.

I think it was the early to mid 1990s I received a vhs (that may have been packaged with a toy car). The video I remember is about some people testing out a hover car (I’m assuming magnetic levitation). There was a lot of focus on the development and testing of this vehicle and I think there was a big race at the end.

Any suggestions or other things to look up would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Any chance it was one of the hot wheels movies?

It was very short, but I remember extensive focus on the testing of the hover car

I can only think of REDLINE.

Thank you, I looked this up and the animation I’m looking for was less polished and more basic with the coloring

Maybe something from the Future GPX Cyber Formula series

Thank you, this is very close to the aesthetic. I’m going to research this to see if the video I’m looking for is in this series

"The Running Man" kinda fits this description (hover car, plus a crew doing some ~~testing~~ monitoring), though I doubt it'd be packaged with a toy car. :P

It was a ~10min short that was one of three shorts in a compilation OVA called "Neo Tokyo" (english title) aka "[Manie-Manie: Meikyuu Monogatari](https://anidb.net/anime/713)", which came out in 1987.

Thank you, I’ve seen this before and it’s a cool animation, but what I’m looking for is more bland stylistically. I think it was more mid 90s and possibly Americans trying to capture a similar visual style

This was my first exposure to that animation
