Seriously, why the hell does the author of Jujutsu Kaisen create villains who are supposedly strong and dangerous, only for them to keep getting beaten every time they show up and, in the end, die? Honestly, I've never seen that in any other manga.
I think the worst part here is Jogo: he got beaten twice, first by Gojo and then by Sukuna, which was when he died. Literally, in any other shounen, Jogo would be the big 'boss' to be defeated by the protagonist or the group of protagonists, but here the author had him fight maybe the two strongest characters in the series.

Jogo fought the two strongest characters in the series, why would you expect him to win? Gojo had to be sealed or the villains wouldn't stand a chance
And Sukuna is Sukuna....he is the last boss.
The other villains served their purpose, like Mahito killing Nanami and Mechamaru. Why is he in one of these images anyway?
Agreed. There are a lot of things to be said about JJK writing but in terms of justifying who wins in a fight and reinforcing how deadly its villains are, I don't think I've seen many better.
The VILLAINS of JJK rarely disappoint though. He definitely knows how to craft threatening antagonists.
You're introduced to Gojo and told how strong he is, but only being a few episodes in it's like... what does that mean?
Then they introduce Jogo and hype him up like crazy. And then Gojo shows up and tosses him around like a napkin. And you go ohhhh okay so he's THAT strong. Got it.
Sukuna, is essentially a God. so even not at full strength, the strength he does have is still considerably more than most if not everyone currently in universe.
Mahito is arguably more important than jogo and he technically was the 'villain' of the last two seasons that the protagonists really had to beat. Yuji the protagonist and Toto had to team up to beat mahito and those two barely won that.
"Rule of what feels coolest in the immediate moment, but is less cool in the long run."
Characters are normally shown as being very mean and flamboyant, and you can see this as early as the first episode. This anime while shallow, is **not inconsistent** (it has always been this bad). This show has always abused death from the very start, death lost its weight long ago.
If anything was different back in season 1 is that the viewers were more trusting and naive. The comic relief never worked for me and felt cheesy as hell.
We still got a pretty thorough showcase of Jogo’s powers and his personality. He was a very strong curse spirit, and this was made evident in Shibuya. The character is literally a subversion of the mid to high level henchman who’s a “jobber”. We think he’s unimpressive at first, but the story purposefully pits him against Gojo & Sukuna to mislead us.
We not only learn more about the concepts of high level Jujutsu through those 2 fights, but also their character traits. For Gojo, his cockiness and tendency to be a bit of a sadist, particularly with cursed spirits. For Sukuna, his philosophy of “might above all”, and appreciation of raw strength and skill, even in his opponents. For Jogo, his insecurities and mental blocks.
Personally, I think the disaster curses fulfilled their purpose.
Some may say JJK isn't any other shonen and that's a good thing.
Personally I don't need Jogo to be another dollar store final boss with Sukuna present in the story. He fulfills his role well as a minor antagonist. There are plenty other major antagonists like Mahito too.
> never seen that in any other manga
Didn't read a lot of manga then? Hyped up antagonists that did faster for valid narrative reasons are not uncommon, I guess?
