"Roll Over and Die" is another victim of the "Direct Translation" trap
I might sound like I'm just complaining, but it feels like many recent anime adaptations have lost the art of actual adaptation. Instead of transforming the source material for a visual medium, studios are just taking Light Novels "word for word" and slapping them onto the screen.
"Roll Over and Die" is a perfect example. What works as internal monologue in a book often feels like "slop" when it isn't adjusted for pacing and screenwriting. I really wish production committees would go back to prioritizing script doctors who know how to make a story flow better when adapted to anime, rather than just rushing out a literal 1:1 copy. I know there are some cases that this works in and some fans that don't like changes but for the majority of us who don't read light novels it just ends up losing context and looking like slop.
sorry for the old man yells at grass rant.

That said, I don't think OmaeGotoki stood much of a chance of getting a good adaptation when the story includes "impossibly evil bastards" and "status screens".
It basically had the "slave brand" on its face, or should I say "cheap adaptation fodder brand".
Also, I think it's the first dull "heroes party" with a female lead anime we've gotten, that's an achievement in itself. And before anything mentions Rit and Red, the male one is clearly the main one.
And you might want to use another example instead of internal monologues, because that's super common in anime.
I was so excited to see if and I still like seeing flum and milkit animated but really wish it was getting the treatment it deserves.
