Help me find a non fantasy show on Crunchyroll

I’m not too into anime but Ive watched a few I’m tryna find another to watch that interests me but it’s hard to find any. I’m on Crunchyroll trying to find stuff without much fantasy to it, something a little more real world without being super perverted. so far I’ve seen paranoia agent but it was a little confusing towards the end, terror in resonance was really good, and I’m about to finish phsyco pass which is also pretty good so maybe something along the lines of those. Phsyco pass has a little more futuristic tech than I’d like but I was able to get into it.

Hi realpacksmoker506, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

Try watching Jin-Roh next. No fantasy elements, very grounded.

This one sounds pretty damn good. Dark backstory to it

* Vinland Saga (Historical--2nd season leans strongly to drama)
* Elusive Samurai

Comedy

* Bocchi the Rock

Sports

* Haikyu
* Chihayafuru
* Oblivion Battery

Romance

* You and I are Polar Opposites (currently airing)
* Kaguya-sama: Love is War
* Skip and Loafer

Will take a few to look threw them all but thanks I’ll check most of those out (minus romance)

The Promised Neverland is definitely fantasy though.

the ending of paranoia agent should be pretty straightforward imo, but its pretty confusing until you get there

maybe you will like 91 days, monster , orb on the movement of the earth or kaiji ultimate survivor if you want something suspenseful

barakamon or rakugo shinjuu if you want something more lighthearted

realpacksmoker5062026-01-24 20:52

Honestly it was a confusing one for me. Very first anime I watched I wasn’t expecting it to be so in depth with the metaphors n stuff. Wanna explain the last 3 episodes? Also thanks for the recommendations

onzichtbaard2026-01-25 13:43

its been a while since i watched it but i think the conclusion is that the mc killed her dog by accident and the guilt for that made her supress those memories, until at the very end she remembers it again and forgives herself if i recall correctly, the golden bat is a metaphor for people who dont want to face reality in society and needing a scapegoat

and its also a wider metaphor for how japan hasnt admitted the wrongs they commited in ww2

but then again its been a long time since i watched it so i dont exactly remember how it went, i just remember that to me the ending of the show made sense to me at the time

and ye paranoia agent is definitely a bit of a tough anime for a first watch, but its a very good anime so an interesting choice for sure
