Great anime that STILL doesn't have any new seasons
Is there any great anime out there you're surprised still hasn't gotten any new seasons yet? For me it's Komi-san Can't Communicate. I mean, so much anime is greenlit for more seasons despite their reception. And before anyone comments, Komi-san has a lot going for it. Numbers matter right? The manga sold over 16 million, the first season has over 20 million hours in viewership & has been well-received. Hell, even the subreddit members are more than half of the likes of Konosuba & Rising of the Shield Hero, both which got greenlit for 4 & 5th seasons. Yet still no studio wants to pick it up for a season 3?
Komi-san more than deserves another season. But what's your pick? Is there any great anime you know that still doesn't have a new season? Comment if you'd like. Be clear, concise, & honest. And say if you agree with me on the Komi-san anime.

Even though there is no basis for that.

The first season is good, but it really does cut off right where the story goes from good to godly.
Sangatsu is by far the best thing to come out of that Studio.
Doesnt mean they are as good
both arguably a top 10 of all time
Heavenly Delusion (Superb anime that got buried on Disney+, but was superb)
Insomniacs after School (In my opinion one of the most beautiful animes out there, with lovely MC’s and zero conflicts making it a perfect sweet chill out anime to watch).
The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today (I loved this silly, hilarious comedy anime about an intelligent overgrown cat that looks after its owner)
I would have added to this list Bocchi the Rock and Dark Gathering, but both last year had announcements of second seasons at some point.
I am surprised we havent seen any announcement for Heavenly Delusion though, it was quite popular and from what I heard there is enough material for a second season.
As for Heavenly, it’s a shame because that world had sooo much more to offer. Some of those episodes were amazing (I was shocked with the episode with the Doctor in the hospital, and how that episode tied the two storylines together, still makes me tear up a little).
I do hold out a little hope for Heavenly Delusion, just because it was well received in Japan alone.
UQ Holder has a similar situation where it felt like it could continue. Yes I know Ken Akumatsu was/is busy being a senator (or something like that). Again surely he at least had an idea how to finish the show.
For as long as the manga has been going on, I'm really surprised there's only 3 adaptations of Bio Booster Armor Guyver. To be fair the manga has been on hiatus since 2016! (seriously it's been 10 years since he published anything new).
Obviously Slayers is another that could easily continue, even if they had to reboot it at this point due to the big differences in the anime vs light novels.
I'd like to get a final season (and an adaption of the skipped volume) too. There should be a bit more interest in the series again with the sequel running now.
same with
Accel world,
Claymore(more of a remaster tbh)
A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet
Rakudai Kishi
Arte
Drifter
Probably more, but dont want to extend
Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun
Land of the Lustrous

I have good and bad news for you.
Good news: Sugoilite leaked it (so its happening).
Bad News: They just started production. Its gonna be a while...
Good Morning Call (if I can count it, because there's dorama exist and only one ova episode that just promotes manga by taking out one of the chapters from the middle...)
Ojō to Banken-kun (manga stopped, so maybe anime can just finish the story of mangaka can't do it)
A shame because I think it lowkey is one of the best slice of life anime out there, I never knew how fun an agricultural school setting could be.
I guess also Vinland Saga, but I feel more confident that will eventually happen. Hopefully.
BUG Film is what's wrong. It would need a new studio to get a season 2
cant remember
Yes your correct it was fully adapted I didn't even realize I just really enjoyed the show and wanted more!

I personally don't really care if they go that route or do anime original episodes or just more manga-derived episodes from before the time skip to the extent content for that exists. But it was my second series ever watched when I started getting into anime and I thought at the time that it was annoying how a series which just depicted mundane everyday life and in theory could have so many episodes was so super short as to only be 11.
No game no life.
Love Lab
Deaimon
Hinamatsuri
Sad times…
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
No Game No Life
Haruhi
Baccano
It's one thing to do only 1 twelve or 13 episode season and just call it a day. This is the case for most anime that only adapt part of a manga series.
It's quite another to do 74+ episodes and not follow through to the end. Not even any movies!
Heavenly Delusion
Gangsta
Moonlight Mile
Terraformars?
{Space brothers}
{Maoyuu}
They would do a chapter every 2 weeks like 3 times and then take like a month off.
Probably wanted to give the manga time to move ahead.
- Ouran Highschool Host Club
- Ao Haru Ride
- Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose It’s. master
- Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
- Rainbow
- Pandora Hearts (needs a total reboot though)
Studio Orange magnificently adapted the first 30 (approx) of the manga's now completed 108 chapters, but despite the anime's reasonable success the production committee for some reason decided not to hire Orange to produce any more.
This says a lot about the often cynical nature of manga to anime adaptations - they are largely no more than adverts to encourage people to buy the source material.
If anyone is curious, the production committee for season 1 was made up of:
Toho, Kodansha, A-TX, Q-Tec, MBS, BS11, Movic, Kyoraku and Tokyo MX.
2. Also surprised no one said Zom 100 yet.
Talentless Nana
Monster Musume
Zom 100

Generally, the production/business side of an anime studio (the producers) are separate from the creator side (the animators), so this is a case where the two sides of the people that helped create Komi-san the anime are no longer working together. Which is awkward and probably led to a lot of delays in a decision for S3.
Then to make things worse, the manga ended in 2025. A lot of times, publishers are enthusiastic for creating animes because it helps drive magazine and manga sales, but the benefits are much less if the manga is ended. In order for a publisher to commit to funding an anime for an already-ended manga series, generally the manga series has to be like a REALLY big seller.
At 15M+ sales, Komi-san's a big hit, but it's about half of Frieren (30M). which is Shounen Sunday's biggest hit on the same publisher/magazine. Silver Spoon (which I LOVED) is another Shounen Sunday hit, but it never got a final season, and it sold around 17M volume.
All's which is to say, at around 15M in sales, it's not SUPER surprising Komi-san didn't get a final season.
Baccano!
March Comes In Like A Lion.
