Please help me find this specific anime from my childhood!!!
I'm unsure of where to post (since I'm not actually the biggest anime fan,) but I remembered watching it back when I was like...11-14? (19 now)
Here are some key details I remember VERY clearly:
* It followed a girl and an old(?) scientist/conspiracy theorist who knew that another world(s) exist.
* There was someone who came from the other world who MET the girl face to face and had a semi-bond with
* The scientist and girl both end up at the portal to the other world, of which is made of breathable water. I remember a scene where MC is underwater and realizes she can breathe after a minute.
* THERES THIS REALLY REALLY CUTE SCENE where MC and the scientist are in the other world and realize POTATOES grow there, and after a mini argument between them due to them "possibly containing harmful toxins", they end up cooking them and eating them without seasoning. But even so, it somehow tasted delicious (with it being the only food they had found at the time.)
Now ill add in details that should be taken with a grain of salt, since I'm unsure if they're accurate/relevant:
* A cat was involved...I think. I think the person MC met was a cat due to transformation magic????? But I don't remember it being super important.
* The girl had met the scientist due to him being a talk of the town, so to speak, because he was seen as crazy for thinking there was any other world that existed simultaneously with ours; she finds out its real and then goes to his house and tries to work with him. I THINK???
* The scientist is a grumpy dad character and MC is like a daughter figure.
Feel free to recommend subbreddits for me to cross post in!!! I really wanna find this anime man I remember it being SO PEAK
