Anime Name? Girl and boy are somehow connected via mind

So a girl and a boy are somehow connected via mind. They can communicate telepathically without knowing each other or ever having met. The girl was if I remember correctly a bit of a loner and this connection really lifted her up. They tried talking via flip phone but it didn't work if I remember correctly. But they were constantly able to talk via mind 100% they were also in different time periods but not super many years apart. They try to meet but the guy didn't show up because I think he had an accident and the girl tried to save him at the end.... it's not the lake house with Keanu Reese, it's not your name, also not the early days we promised, not voices from a distant stars.

It played in a Japanese city and I remember the flip phone and that he got jealous because he was there in her mind constantly somehow. I am confused and Its definitely an older anime

How old an anime are we talking?

Reminds me a bit of the only decent Twilight Zone episode of the recent Jordan Peele series.

There are also some elements in what you describe in the anime duology--To Every You I've Loved Before and its "partner" film To Me, The One Who Loved You. But what you described doesn't fit exactly.

I think it must be somewhere between the 90ies and 2014 because that was my high time of watching anime after that I toned it down and collected the names so sadly not those options either

Nah I watched steins gate and I remember it. Its absolutely not that she saved him from that airplane crash 1000% and it was pretty much at the end of the story and the story was about them communicating and sharing things and moments through the mind link somehow

The story isn't exactly as you described, but the elements are sufficiently close to kind of match.
