Hi sludty, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

You might also find our [Recommendation Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/recommendations) or [daily thread](/r/anime/search?q=flair%3Adaily&restrict_sr=on&sort=new&t=week) helpful.

Check out Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, it's an alternate history steampunky setting where Japan is dealing with a super zombie apocalypse during a time similar to the Meji era. It's made by the same people who made the first part of AOT, so it's visually very similar. Second half of the season isn't as good as the first half, but it has a sequel movie (sometimes chopped up into 3 OVA's) that is outstanding.

If you're more into political drama/war strategies, try legend of the galactic heroes.

All my friends that have attack on titan as their favorite anime think it’s right up there.

sludty2026-01-25 22:55

_Eighty-Six_ and _Vinland Saga_ are two commonly recommended anime for those who want something similar to _AoT_

No_Walk_Town2026-01-25 05:40

You want *more* racist slop? Uh, Gate?

Swimming-Elk67402026-01-25 05:48

Never seen a thread like this before!

Gets really old really fast doesn't it?

People should learn to use "my anime list" or something...

Maybe this is why AI is so hot for the young generation... you just ask it and it answers. No effort, no thinking, nothing... it'll just tell you exactly "watch this" and you'll do it's bidding... easy, simple and effin BORING and makes one a zombie.

But we are not AI bots...

sludty2026-01-25 23:04

i’m incredibly confused rn

Icchan_2026-01-26 16:10

What's confusing you? :)

sludty2026-01-27 08:27

is the person you replied to ai? i don’t use reddit but i asked for recommendations bc i figured most accounts on here are run by humans lol

Thread that ask recommendations and watch orders and "give me series that are like this other series!" stuff are constant numerous and they're really annoying people.

So people vote them down all the time because it's annoying when instead of putting in the effort using the gazillion tools available to find stuff, some waste other people's time by asking them the same questions that have been answered already.

And when everyone of the millions of people do that once, that means millions of threads.

Even when mods try and tell people that no, stop asking these questions again and again.

So he was being sarcastic.

So please, learn to use these tools FIRST and if none of them actually help you in any way, THEN go and ask people.

We're not some chatGPT... it's our time and effort everyone's spending with these treads. :)

sludty2026-01-28 20:06

hey i’m sorry but i’m gonna bring you back to reality for a second. you’re actively wasting your own time responding to me on this thread and i’m guessing i’m not the only person you’ve said this to. no hate towards you, but imagine how productive you could be if you put this time into doing something meaningful for yourself

i told you i don’t use reddit so why would i be aware of your frustration? im not about to waste natural resources to ask chat gpt for some anime recs (it’s not that serious) and i didn’t even know these anime lists existed until you said so

i understand it’s annoying and i apologise

i’m not going to entertain this convo any further and i mean this genuinely when i say this, i hope you heal from whatever’s upsetting you bc strangers on an anime thread shouldn’t bother you this much

falsefingolfin2026-01-25 05:48

Vinland saga and orb are probably the closest good ones to AoT. People are saying 86, but I don't think 86 is even 1/4 as thought provoking as AoT

sludty2026-01-25 22:58

i’ve heard only good things about vinland saga and orb looks soooo interesting i’m defs going to watch that

daddyjohns2026-01-25 21:45

I'm not even trolling, that show was heavily flawed.

sludty2026-01-25 22:49

oh whys that??
