no, start with something simple like demon slayer. Especially don't jump to attack on titan or vinland saga, cause once u watch those, everything else becomes boring in comparison.
Icchan_2026-01-25 08:22
Don't believe this guy.
Surely those series are fine and all, but they're DEFINITELY not the greatest ones ever made or anything like that.
The landscape is vast and there's been some amazing works of art made that never lose their depth and will be analyzed and re-analyzed for the next 100 years... again and again.

Anyone who says "attack on titan is so good nothing compares to it" should never be taken seriously.

Personally, I enjoy very little, but from a more objective standpoint, the series is very slow. I would definitely focus more on watching shorter classic shows until you feel like less of a noob. There's also a one piece remake coming out eventually, so it's probably just best to wait for that regardless
longdong54322026-01-25 08:08
No
Magmamaster82026-01-25 08:10
If you're new to anime, I'd just suggest trying a couple episodes of series that you like the art design of and getting a good idea of what kinds of genres you like.
You can usually tell if you'll like something in a few episodes. I would personally start with shorter animes. Some are less than 12 episodes.
Prince_Uncharming2026-01-25 08:11
Oh boy! Another “should I watch” thread from someone who doesn’t know how to use the Search!!
LandBackground77332026-01-25 08:12
Watch things like SAO, FMAB, AOT all the shorter but long form goodies!
Icchan_2026-01-25 08:20
There's no requirement for you to do that.
You'll do that if you WANT TO. It's fun anime though.... Start watching it on the side, episode a day or few a week and it'll be done within few years along with other stuff :)
But I'd focus on the true classics from the 90's and early 2000's to understand the medium better.
but it all depends on what you like to watch and WHY.
I love the art of it all. Animation, direction, story, characters. I enjoy the music and the combination of it all, how different things have evolved.
I enjoy the stories that can't be taken face value, love the stories that bubble out of love for some subject..
I love the realism and courage of many works...
But it's on you, what are YOU seeking?
Active-Guarantee39692026-01-25 08:21
It depends on the genre you like, then the recommendations from everyone would be more accurate. Personally, I would recommend going for the older animes over the current mainstream ones to start out as there's a lot of hidden gems.
britishguys2026-01-25 08:23
I've watched mha all the way through though
abandoned_idol2026-01-25 16:57
At the very least wait for the anime remake.
They are remaking the first arc from scratch (much higher quality/pacing/direction) with Studio Wit.
If you want a cheaper and older looking anime adaptation, by all means, start BEFORE they release the remake that was announced \~2 years ago (release date hasn't been announced, but should be relatively soon).
The current anime started as a weekly 1997 adaptation, and the quality will reflect that. I'm not going to tell you that watching that old anime is a smart decision.

Yes
Gullible_Egg_65392026-01-25 08:36
No.
As a beginner, it's a terrible idea. I mean sure, you might actually like it, but the pacing is very slow and you'll most likely get bored. I think you should watch shorter anime and wait until One Piece is fully finished airing before committing to it.
Many people are blinded by nostalgia, but the first half of One Piece is 80% boring and badly written and 20% really good. The second half is much better in terms of writing, but the pacing grinds to a halt. It's not really something I'd recommend to someone who isn't a veteran.
YaGurlAlexis2026-01-25 08:54
Hard to recommend an anime, however good it is, without knowing your own preferences, as an example, someone who hates cyberpunk as a genre isn’t going to enjoy cyberpunk edgerunners even if it’s a 10/10 show
InfiniteEstimate9772026-01-25 09:12
I think you should watch stuff that isn't as time consuming first because one piece is a huge commitment and it will probably burn you out.
Gmaster1322026-01-25 09:32
Since is the first time, I will sugest you start with an anime you like the art of. If it is visually appealing it would be easier for you to like it. Also see what genres you like the most. Accion? Horror? Mystery? Romance? Comedy? Thriller? There are all kinds of animes
Axat932026-01-25 14:36
I would suggest Violet Evergarden. Series and the Two Movies.
