*My condolences go out to Osamu.*
I think her true condescending, demeaning, "dark" attitude is what got sucked in the mirror and trapped.
What's left is the "reflection" she tried to show or act as a front to others.
I think the mirror making the logo on the apron seem correct is why Kaya didn't suspect anything. She's probably barely going to see Mel-sensei moving forward to be able to put two and two together or sense the possible inhuman vibes.
Mobuo and his daughter Kyoko did nothing wrong. They wanted to spend more time together as father and daughter. However, it was sad and depressing to see the spirit of Kyoko go from smiling widely to becoming tired and then eventually becoming a mysterious being / monster. T\_T
I guess at the end of the day, spirits are meant to pass on and not dwell in the land of the living lest they lose themselves. Even if it's hard for someone who loves them to accept that until it's too late.
As for the real mero sensei, she is trapped into the mirror. Before the swap, the cat and fish print is between her apron, but after the swap, it is located on the upper right/left part of the apron.
I think this will be revisted in later episodes. And that kid may have the same gift as Kaya or that occult guy.
I think it raises a point: when you lose someone in your family, getting over that loss is hard. For Mobu, he could still see his daughter, but that prevented him from moving on. Though according to his wife and everyone else, he looked like a man who couldn't get over the fact that his daughter died.
In real life, you could have this stuff causing turmoil in the family. Where it could lead to divorce potentially. Here the daughter turned specter and was willing to endanger Mobu's wife. Essentially, Mobu was willing to let his daughter take him, and basically this would be seen as Mobu committing suicide according to others.
While it was a coincidence that Kaya saved. It was so fortunate for him because it gave Mobu an opportunity to move on. At least he still has his wife. Though now him calling Kaya Kaya-sama makes more sense.
As for the others, he will be seen as a broken person. If not for Kaya, his wife would have died, and will be pinned to him as a guy who lost it. He may end up in jail or in a mental asylum.
Make sense why he is really bound to return the favor.
And the text is mirrored.
It's nice to see Kaya slowly making friends, even though it's through the process of saving them from spirits trying to kill them.
I love Saku willing to throw hands for Kaya's sake. And Ken-ken coming around as a nice boy in his own way.
I really do like this anime but the constant "glitching" makes this hard to watch..
I was kinda hoping they'd tone it down but doesn't seem like that will happen.
Especially when we can't be 100% certain the new version is going to be safe to leave around kids when it's not even human.
Mel had issues for sure. But...man that's a brutal price to pay for being a little rude.
Osamu's been through a lot. To see his daughter's spirit gradually decay to the point where she's about to drag him away from the world of the living. Guess that event had ultimately helped him get over her death.
I guess it's nice to think that maybe Chie-sensei will realize something is sus about how Mel-sensei is acting and investigate the mirror with Kaya.

The dead are not meant to continue being around the living.
EDIT: The teacher in the pool is Chihiro-sensei not Mel-sensei.
As sad as Uncle Mob's backstory is, the show is definitely not kind to him [considering how every part of his backstory makes him look like a creep](https://i.imgur.com/dXsg1Ik.jpeg) at first glance. [Him going to the park with his ghost daughter](https://i.imgur.com/f2ooMVm.jpeg) just made him look like a creeper to everyone's eyes. I'm just glad that's not the case.
Either ways, I really hope there will be a continuation to this, because so far we have learnt that all the ghosts and such all have ill intentions, this spectre is literally a ticking bomb there in the kindergarden. And given the backstory of Uncle Mob, it won't be long until the spectre shows its true color.
I wonder if it might try to drag more kids into the mirror so it can replace them with mirror doppelgangers?
That doesn’t necessarily mean the original Mel-sensei deserved to be banished to the mirror realm. I’m just saying the “new” version of her doesn’t automatically have to be evil.
On the flipside (no pun intended), the mirror is still dangerous. If it did the same thing to someone who is already kind, it would end up creating a malicious doppelganger instead.
That's not Mel. It's a different teacher.
There's 2 clear hints that Mel-sensei is different, aside from her personality, that the mole on her face is on the other side of her face now, and the logo on her apron is reversed. I wonder if this issue will be revisited in the future.
Mob's backstory was so sad, being able to see his daughter's ghost and acting like nothing happened then seeing her slowly turn into a spector that almost took his and his wife's life if Kaya hadn't stopped her.
I thought Mob's work with the occult was because of that incident, but it seems he was already into it before this incident. His love for his daughter made him ignore what he learnt about spirits and spectors, and made him partially blind to what she was turning into.
When your evil mirror counterpart is actually nice to the children (Its sus to everyone)
Huh we just dropped that for another time did we, okay
RIP dude's daughter
Does that mean that every dangerous ghost until now was at one point like that? Sane at the beginning but eventually they became unable to sustain themselves and had to resort to attack humans to maintain their form? If so that would be a little sad for all the ghosts.
I must refuse it lmfao
I think I'm starting to understand, so we have this possession or wathever, the father can't see the ghost and thinks his wife is really sick and because of that she can't even exit out of the room, I don't know why he doesn't bring her to an hospital (excellent question but maybe the ghost controlled her and refused, possible), in any case, so for him she is just really sick and nothing else and so he says to Kaya to leave her alone and he does the same.

The ghosts have to pass to the other side once they die,or they'll lose their way and become entities
Which means it's a kind of corruption: the more they stay trapped in the material world, the more they risk to become horrors. Which means all the monsters we've seen so far were actual normal ghosts once
Aw, look at that! Kaya drawing a picture of her and her family! The same one from the OP, it looks like! All she needs is some black crayons...but where are all the black crayons!? Is there a crayon thief about?
Turns out Yuzu's little brother Kan was using all the black crayons to scribble on a mirror...everyone thinks he's just a rambunctious, mischievous, troublemaker like Kaya, but when he innocently calls something "scary," you have to wonder if he's more like Kaya than anybody realizes.
I question if Mel-sensei should really be taking care of kids, she seems to not be that emotionally invested and gets easily frustrated with the kids who aren't easy to manage. Not to mention saying things around the kids that a teacher should not be saying.
Turns out there was a reason Kan was scribbling on that mirror...there was a ghostly specter haunting it that nearly consumed Mel-sensei. Luckily Kaya is there with an effective KAYA KICK to save the day! And it seems like this experience has made Mel-sensei turn a new leaf and become a lot more nicer and empathetic! Let's just ignore how fast this personality change happened, how her apron logo has reversed, and the human hands that are bashing on the mirror pleading for help!
The pool episode! And Chie is as hyped as the kids! Though Ken-ken is his usual gremlin self, especially when he sees Kaya's lame-o swimsuit or her lame-o lack of swimming skills. But I really like Saku sticking up for Kaya and being willing to do physical damage to Ken-ken for Kaya's sake.
Jeez, Ken-ken was THIS close to drowning if Kaya hadn't smashed the specter with a kickboard...but it was the least Ken-ken could do to bring Kaya back to land and apologizing for his behavior. He can acknowledge and appreciate Kaya saving him.
If Chie's not going to come to Mob, Mob is going to come to her. Also who is that beautiful lady driving him?
Maybe Mob shouldn't be revealing how he's basically stalking Kaya and has wiretapped the school while they're in a family restaurant? Chie was THIS close to calling the police on him, for good reason!
But despite appearances, Mob was actually married with a child and everything was great...until Kyoko died of truck-kun (RIP). And instead of Isekai'ing, her spirit stayed around her father who was the only one who could see her. So obviously he looked to his wife like he'd gone crazy in grief, causing her to leave him, and he just acted like Kyoko was really still there no matter what anyone else thought.
Eventually, though, Kyoko staying in the land of the living instead of really passing on caused her to be corrupted into a specter...and take her father with her. Thankfully Toddler!Kaya was there to defeat the Specter!Kyoko and it seems like Mob and his wife maybe came around after that. And thus did Mob gain his undying gratitude toward Kaya.
Looks like we're going to get more details on Kaya's mom and what's going on at her house?
I'm happy to learn more of Mob's background. So the rule is, ghosts need to move on as soon as they can post death. If not, they'll turn into monsters.
Do we think Kaya will rescue Mel sensei next week? Or will this be a multi episode thing?
What about Kaya's mom's room? Why is there no response from the father? Is the father actually a ghost that others can see.
Gosh, too many questions.
Wait, the boy sees them too, right?
I thought that was the implication, anyway!
Kaya must know right? The teacher is the opposite of hostile though so perhaps it’s “all well that ends well”
Speaking of conclusions, Mel-sensei’s story surely hasn’t ended yet and I expect a revisit soon. But I’m also curious which type of youkai is this? In last episode’s encounter, despite not being able to see “it” as a demon, Kaya was still able to sense it. But not this time?
Very exciting and definitely looking forward to see more.
Mobu might come across as weird, but he is clearly a good dude. Kaya-sama saved his life. He simply wants to help her back how she helped him. The episode really highlights the dangers of not being able to move when those that you love have passed away. As that is a challenge everyone has.
Having a doppelganger working at the school sounds bad, given that 100% of entities we've seen have been malicious. I wonder if we'll revisit this later?
I'm not a huge fan of uncle Mob. He IS creepy, despite the personal tragedy humanizing him. I can see why he's grateful to Kaya for exorcising Kyoko.
It seems obvious Mel is possessed by the mirror ghost and her spirit is trapped in the mirror. As we are also introduced to the evil house, it seems clear from this point onwards we will have a multi episode story for a bit.
Pretty sad backstory for Mob. Truck-kun didn't even have the decency to isekai his daughter to a better world and instead just left her as a decaying spirit.
So, the other teacher is stuck in the mirror and the spirit is possessing her? Seems like something that'll need to be addressed eventually.
I thought that was the case too, since the apron wording seemed like it was mirrored somehow. Then the hands knocking, and the explanation at the end. That’s just cool, and quite scary a bit.
Yup, I can definitely imagine something like that. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not, but if she treated the kids well, then I guess all’s good, right?
Anyway, looking forward to the next episode!
Mel-sensei's probably done for, having been spirited away and changed with an anomaly. But it's a change in people's personality that we sometimes have to deal with as well no matter the circumstances of said change.
Feel bad for Mob. He convinced his dead daughter to hang around and she turned into a monster and he never got to truly say goodbye.
I see people here saying that at least his wife is still alive, but is he even married anymore? He doesn't have a wedding ring on his left hand and he has gained a not insignificant amount of weight after the flashback. Death like that could destroy a marriage, especially if one party is forever unable to accept the reality that the child is gone.
The lady at the end of the flashback resembles the driver more than the wife.
Poor Osamu.
