Genuinely shaping up to becoming one of my all time favorite anime romcoms. It hits all the notes I look for in such story and they don't beat around the bush. Already dating by the end of episode 1 hell yeah! And Suzuki and Tani have just such well written chemistry that makes them work so well together. Especially because they avoid the standard character tropes for their type of characters that often act as an obstacle to overcome in a standard romcom (like making Suzuki a tsundere or making Tani extremely shy and insecure) Instead they just communicate like actual human beings

This is my favorite new show of the season, and going in blind I was so surprised to see the story told from Suzuki's POV as the more popular one but it worked soo well to show off how awkward she felt about romance too and how hard she worries about fitting. More than any other new character this season the show did a crazy good job at making me feel like I was literally in her shoes.
As someone who loves My Dress-Up Darling I was reminded a lot of Marin and Gojo's dynamic and especially the scenes from Marin's POV.
While I'm normally someone who prefers a slow burn romance I am already an early investor in Polar Opposites being one of my favorite new shows of 2026. I really wonder if we're actually going to get any awkward first kiss scenes this season with how quick their relationship is progressing. If so that would be a level of progress I haven't seen since my favorite romance anime in my flair.

I can see it happening. They were already holding hands halfway through the first episode before they even confessed. Which is by all accounts a crime against standard romance anime tropes on the level not seen since they got married in episode 1 in Tonikawa Over the Moon for you. Both of them clearly are letting their intrusive thoughts get the better of them so I'm half expecting them to kiss early on
For me it helps as well that they've both clearly been crushing on one another for months now already, which avoids it feeling rushed. So there probably was a bit of a slow burn, but we skipped a season or 2 of will they/won't they and got right to the part where most romance anime end. I had the same thing with Banished from the heroes party, where it was clear the main couple already had prior history of being into eachother, so it didn't feel rushed that they got together quickly
