r/anime Karma Ranking & Discussion | Week 4 [Winter 2026]

Wow, this was a fantastic week! I can't remember the last time two shows broke the 5k karma barrier at the same week, so seeing that [**Frieren: Beyond Journey's End S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qeib9f/comment/nzxsudz/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (1st place and 7011 karma) and [**Jujutsu Kaisen S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qjyiwr/comment/o12xlco/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (2nd place and 5193 karma) managed to do so made me really happy.
Incidentally, it's interesting how differently the latest episode of [**Jujutsu Kaisen S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qjyiwr/comment/o12xlco/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) was received in Japan (harsh criticism) and abroad (praise).
We also had one show break the 2k karma barrier – **Fate/Strange Fake** (3rd place), and five other shows break the 1k karma barrier – [**Oshi no Ko S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qj0b3i/comment/o0vdrz8/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (4th place), [**Hell's Paradise S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qgb9o8/comment/o0b8yqm/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (5th place), [**Sentenced to Be a Hero**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qjupo4/comment/o11z8z5/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (6th place), [**You and I Are Polar Opposites**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qg3b1b/comment/o09jo92/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (7th place), and [**Shiboyugi**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qizj0g/comment/o0vlsj5/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (8th place).
[**Journal with Witch**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qgbkp5/comment/o0dqera/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (9th place) also came very close to breaking the 1k karma mark thanks to a fantastic episode, but unfortunately, it fell just 39 karma short :(

> Incidentally, it's interesting how differently the latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen S3 was received in Japan (harsh criticism) and abroad (praise).
Hopefully it's at least unanimous in both the JP-speaking and EN-speaking world that Maki's turned into an absolute goddess of war. She's always looked baller, but by golly she's gone to plaid in E4.
Indie_Hawk_2026-01-25 15:29
Not sure but it was a comment from a person which went viral where that person focuses more on hating non japanese view. Many Japanese were calling out the criticism too to be stupid. And that made news. That's what I heard atleast.
This-is_CMGRI2026-01-25 15:31
Fair enough. Was thinking "ah fuck not Gosso too" but last I checked damn near everyone loved Kill Zen'in.
dododomo2026-01-25 16:19
I've seen that tweet. Then that person went full xenophobic, etc lol
Ebo872026-01-25 15:35
The last time this happened was the last time we had JJK and Frieren airing alongside each other, Fall 2023, lol.
tripleaamin2026-01-25 15:51
Regarding the JJK episode, I think it shows the cultural differences. Being more faithful is of higher importance. I mean, if you look at the MCU and how many creative liberties it has, no one complains.
Also, in many OPs and EDs, there are many more spoilers. Kind of the point to get manga readers excited, but are massive spoilers to anime-onlys.
The JJK episode was much more cinematic than the raw choreography fights in the first 2 episodes. I guess if they wanted to do that mini-arc like that, it would have needed 2 episodes, and they wanted to cover it in 1 episode rather than 2.
Personally, my only issue was the sound direction, as I thought the music choice was off. It was a well-done episode at the end of the day.
Ordinal43NotFound2026-01-25 16:18
I completely get JP criticisms with CSM S1, which was why we got the wonderful Reze movie.
But this criticism of JJK S3 is just sheer nitpicking to the highest degree lol.
Falsus2026-01-25 16:23
I think a large reason behind is that Japan has a lot more source readers than the west, so the public perception in Japan is heavily set already before the shows even air whereas in the west most shows might as well be anime originals since many people don't even know they have a manga or novel, and it might not even be availiable either. Less so with something like JJK or Frieren, but even then the amount of anime onlies in JJK is going to be way bigger than manga readers. The west also favours action much more than than Japan does.
goffer542026-01-25 19:07
Nah, even on /r/Jujutsufolk most people are very happy with the episode.
Various_Length_49052026-01-25 18:01
It happened multiple times in Fall 2024 with Dandadan and Re Zero.
This-is_CMGRI2026-01-25 15:09
Seven thousand fkn ups in 48 hours and over 1200 comments. Frieren really did just waltz into an already hotly-contested season and decided she owns Friday again. You love to see it.
That said, I'm so glad that *You and I Are Polar Opposites* is doing fairly consistently great here. I'm so happy with the flourishes for the adaptation and the ENG dub lands on that fun *Kaguya-sama* sweet spot minus the tonal whiplash.
LowRace61842026-01-25 15:10
By reddit popularity metrics yes, in actuality Frieren isn't even 10% as popular as JJK so I don't see the cause for celebration.
Kuramhan2026-01-25 15:22
The best show in a season is hardly ever the most popular. People just like to feel recognized.
LowRace61842026-01-25 15:30
You are speaking as if Frieren is this underground obscure series, it isn't JJK level but it's still one of the most popular series this decade. Why would they feel recognized from a reddit popularity poll?
ball_throwerAFK2026-01-25 15:39
In Japan, Frieren is right up there alongside JJK.
Both in Streaming and National TV rankings.
maliwanag07122026-01-25 15:23
> That said, I'm so glad that You and I Are Polar Opposites is doing fairly consistently great here.
The mere fact that it airs on a Sunday afternoon in Japan and thus in the wee hours of the morning in the West, but still have relatively okay karma tells something about the show's quality.
Pharaoh_Misa2026-01-25 15:30
I put it on my list, but was a late to getting to it. It's adorable. I have to say without spoiling that a few things that *usually* doesn't happen in a romance anime (or usually doesn't happen early on) *happened in a romance anime.* A huge thank you to You and I Are Polar Opposites for giving us this meal!
Hitman71282026-01-25 15:09
Frieren Fridays are so back! With the #1 spot too.
OnK and Shiboyugi still doing good.
Also go watch Cosmic Princess Kaguya! It's a long movie, but the discussion thread is still active even 3 days later.
suuushi-roll2026-01-25 16:20
Was at the philly Tattoo convention yesterday & the amount of Freiren stencils i saw was crazy. Was really tempted to get one myself lol.
The_walking_man_2026-01-25 16:22
You take any pictures? Any fun designs out on display?
suuushi-roll2026-01-25 16:24
Sadly pictures are frowned upon. Guess they dont want you taking their design and going to a different artist for it.
The_walking_man_2026-01-25 16:46
That’s unfortunate, but it makes sense.
ClemFire2026-01-25 16:28
I heard the dynamic between the leads is great elsewhere on this site, sounds like I’ll have to check it out
Hitman71282026-01-25 16:29
If you enjoyed the dynamic between the mains of Food Court and Ruri Rocks, you will most likely enjoy this one too
ClemFire2026-01-25 16:32
Okay that sounds peak
themcvgamer2026-01-25 16:48
Just advertise Cosmic Princess Kaguya by saying its yuri
cppn022026-01-25 15:10
Week 4 and **Frieren** has made her grand entrance. Although based on JJK's also very good score it looks like with the right timing we might not get a sweep this season.
Very happy that **Ikoku Nikki** with the imo best episode of the season so far is still hanging onto that 9th spot and even gained some good karma.
pratzc072026-01-25 15:50
JJK's recent episode was also not received so well especially in Japan while Frieren continues to get decent ratings on both the episodes released.
Zeruma_2026-01-25 15:10
See everyone that was shocked JJK beat Frieren on the other websites ranking .
It’s going to be different on every site lol.
travelingWords2026-01-25 15:28
Jjk definitely better so far, but it’s had 3 (not counting power point episode) to cook. First frieren episode felt really out of place. Like, jumping into a hot shower to quick and burning. We need to settle in the odd comfort of frieren’s warm embrace.
Zeruma_2026-01-25 15:28
That’s like your opinion bro
travelingWords2026-01-25 15:30
I’m just saying it felt like weird to watch as a first episode out of no where, but if you binged the season previous to that and rolled into that episode it would have been totally fine.
TheDanubianCommunard2026-01-25 16:22
One thing is for sure that these are both peak fantasy.
Beefmytaco2026-01-25 18:40
I'm honestly shocked it didn't sweep. It's rare for any episode of any anime to have me go back and rewatch it multiple times due to just how great it was, and that episode had me rewatch it like 8x times, it's just so fucking good!
Yes Frieren was a good episode, but it was not as good as that JJK Maki episode.
Eigarlll2026-01-25 20:58
Frieren Episode was better than the Chicken Nuggets Episode from JJK
Castor_0il2026-01-25 18:55

DragoSphere2026-01-25 22:25
I feel like this sub should have gotten a clue when Solo Leveling beat Frieren in the crunchyroll awards
This sub is more "old school" and skews towards older weeb tastes, but ever since Covid where anime became mainstream, "hype moments" and "aura" dominate the top spots, hence why we get Solo Leveling and JJK breaking ahead
thisisdropd2026-01-25 15:12
OnK is already a strong contender for OP of the season ~~even if you ignore Akane's smoking fit body~~. Out of all the possible frames, of course that one would make the banner.
Meanwhile we also have *Tune In to the Midnight Heart*'s Arisu showing how romcom MCs should react to a staple scenario.
Shame that *Journal with Witch* had only barely failed to cross the 1k mark after their best episode of the season so far. It really tugged with your emotions.
Ocixo2026-01-25 16:26
> Shame that Journal with Witch had only barely failed to cross the 1k mark after their best episode of the season so far.
I'm hopeful that the show's audience will keep growing if words get around about just how good the show actually is. I've been very impressed so far.
Terrapinja2026-01-25 15:14
7k is insane. Even SL's highest last Winter was around 6.5k I think... Followed by 5k for JJK too. Great week for Karma Rankings
Abysswatcherbel2026-01-25 15:18
In the deflation adjustments they would both be above 10k episodes back in the day
5k is the new 10k
michhoffman2026-01-25 16:33
I wouldn't quite say that. I'd still say 6000 is the new 10000. If 5000 was the new 10000, we'd have gotten some insane adjusted karma totals over the last few years such as Frieren's Season 1 finale getting 22694 Karma, Dan Da Dan Episode 7 getting 20740 Karma and Mushoku Tensei 2P2 Episode 10 getting 15722 Karma when the best it had previously ever gotten was 11025 Karma.
10000 Karma was always a really tough feat with only 85 individual episodes ever reaching that thresh-hold. If you remove Attack on Titan and Re:Zero, it was only 37 episodes over 8 years of tracking prior to the shutdown. The fact that we've had more than 20 episodes over 6000 Karma in the past 2 and a half years is plenty to account for episodes that would have gotten over 10000 Karma previously.
maliwanag07122026-01-25 15:22
> 7k is insane. Even SL's highest last Winter was around 6.5k I think... Followed by 5k for JJK too. Great week for Karma Rankings
This is reminiscent of 2017 to 2018-ish karma wherein great anime series get about 7-10k that time.
MapoTofuMan2026-01-25 15:38
And then Kaguya vs Mob happened and those became rookie numbers...good times, good times.
^(ow my back)
maliwanag07122026-01-25 15:49
And then Winter 2021 happened when ~~2k~~ 1k karma is not enough to get to 15th place.
Then the Reddit blackout happened. Fun times.
comelickmyarmpits2026-01-25 16:04
Man winter 2021 was really something
cppn022026-01-25 16:06
> And then Winter 2021 happened when 2k karma is not enough to get to 15th place.
That never happened plus [the only time we ever came close to an all 2k+ top 15 was actually in Spring 2021](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/mtcdcq/ranime_karma_poll_ranking_week_2_spring_2021/?depth=10)
maliwanag07122026-01-25 16:10
Fake memories indeed. Edited my post.
GlitterDoomsday2026-01-25 15:54
Remember they taking away the trophies cause people were giving gold to make the discussion post stay in evidence longer? Mob vs Kaguya was so freaking peak....
LayneBush2026-01-25 16:09
I remember one episode of Mushoku Tensei getting around 20k because of how good the episode was. The karma deflation hit hard and I still don't fully understand what happened
ball_throwerAFK2026-01-25 15:37
Frieren having high karma for its return was anticipated.
In 2025, SL had the highest karma episode.
But yeah I don’t know of any other anime that will get similar karma to Frieren’s
Also Solo leveling had 6.8K karma. It was close
Falsus2026-01-25 16:16
The sub has gotten even more inactive since then though. 6k Today is more impressive than 6k a year ago.

/u/cppn02
They did lol
But only today
fuzzynavel342026-01-25 15:15
Journal with Witch needs to be higher people! It’s my show of the season so far, and yes, that includes JJK, Frieren, etc
Charming-Loquat37022026-01-25 15:21
What is it about? I haven't even heares of that one
SuperTD2026-01-25 15:26
Modern day, girl's parents die in accident and she goes to live with her aunt who's not really prepared to take in a child. It explores how they both navigate the situation and their feelings of grief and isolation from that point.
Charming-Loquat37022026-01-25 15:28
Ah, I did hear of that one.
SadAnimator13542026-01-25 15:25
I've gotta catch up now. I'd watched episode 1 and remember liking it. Thanks for the reminder!
XDayaDX2026-01-25 15:38
Really great anime, I've been hooked since episode 1
flonc2026-01-25 16:09
Doesn't beat Frieren for me (kind of nothing does), but I second the recommendation! Easily the second anime of the season for me so far and it's not even really my genre. So well done and such an amazing surprise, yall should really check it out!
Fe-Ni2026-01-25 15:16
7k? People really love their slice of life fantasy, hm. Cannot share the sentiment though, too much of nothingness for me.
This-is_CMGRI2026-01-25 15:20
It's more because you'd associate the kind of show Frieren is with a fairly "low-energy" season that doesn't load up on big action. That was last year when we had Frieren, Dungeon Meshi and The Apothecary Diaries in succession.
Zeruma_2026-01-25 15:23
Nah he’s just a big JJK guy and is unhappy it’s not #1
DependentFearless1622026-01-25 15:35
No one even mentioned jjk here and that guy isn't even jjk fan.
Most JJK fans don't even visit this sub often they have their own more active discussion subs.
Idk why you all mention jjk so much
Zeruma_2026-01-25 15:38
Ah he’s not? but he’s active in the JJk sub and JJKfolk sub like you the random guy coming to his defense?
DependentFearless1622026-01-25 15:56
He is active in literally every sub except jjk sub.
Why are you guys obsessed with jjk though?

[come on dude it’s visible](https://imgur.com/a/ET6YFfx)
Why do you care about coming to the defense of that dude so much
[also I’m a JJK fan myself](https://imgur.com/a/SQRkXJy)
Just pointing out why OP would make a random comment slandering Frieren .
michhoffman2026-01-25 15:28
It's not Slice of Life. It's Adventure.
Nyaaski2026-01-25 15:16
Glad to see *that* Oshi no ko image getting chosen.
moichispa2026-01-25 16:13
I see you like Akake's akanes.
To be fair the op is so good you could use a different image per week and still look interesting

When the animators knew exactly what they were doing
cabbaggeez2026-01-25 15:17
from 1200 to 7000 season
Im surprised that Cosmic Kaguya only have 486 points, I thought it was hyped by this community
cppn022026-01-25 15:25
Movies don't really do that well karma wise.
tripleaamin2026-01-25 15:53
Movies fall in the same thing as batch drops. Though at least they get some traction where batch drops get almost none unless it's a big name like Jojo.
Though honestly, Kaguya did pretty solidly for a new IP.
Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-25 16:26
I have Netflix and I was mildly interested in the movie but I simply do not have time to watch it yet.

Comprehensive_Dog6512026-01-25 15:18
Karma board is looking much healthier this week. Would have been nice to see the entire top 15 above 1k but you can't have everything
SpaceMarine_CR2026-01-25 15:18
7000 karma? I never though those days could come back
Ebo872026-01-25 15:37
Only a few years ago this would have been a 15k start, but alas here we are. This is probably as high as you can get for a discussion thread here at this point. Hell, 5k is probably as high as you can get for everyone except Frieren, lol.
maliwanag07122026-01-25 15:19
As expected, Frieren Fridays gets its number 1 spot!
I wonder what will happen next week since there is significant drop in Frieren's karma for next week. Will the Number 1 spot be a competition between Frieren and JJK, which is somewhat not expected?
luceafaruI2026-01-25 15:41
Jjk will have a slower episode so i don't think it will cross 4k. Still, sometimes you don't need hype but a controversy can singlehandedly raise the kama of an episode so who knows
Danny_JJ_The2nd2026-01-25 15:19
Yay Fate yippee
moichispa2026-01-25 16:15
I know JJK action is cooler in general but this Fate characters are so entertaining to watch. The original author excels on working with a bunch of characters on their stories.
Jobe11052026-01-25 18:57
I honestly like the fight choreography of Fate more. Sure JJK has the more artsy style but Fate is just pure hype. That Jester vs Hanzo fight was absolute sasuga.
IQ_less2026-01-25 18:01
They finally seem to get it right this time with a massive cast and all. I still havent fully recovered from the trainwreck of a decent potential show that was Fate Apocrypha. Hopefully this one will be more Fate Stay Night n Zero than that prev one with nearly equal amount of masters n servants.
Fourteeenth2026-01-26 01:13
For all intents and purposes, I thought Apocrypha and the large cast of characters were fine. Sieg as an MC was definitely “meh” but the Heroic Spirits as is tradition, delivered. Lot of fun interactions and fights. But nothing exceptional like the traditional Fate routes, for sure.
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-25 20:56
yeah glad to see it in rightful 3rd after the big 2, both the story development and the animation have been popping off continuously, no wonder they needed so much time to produce this.
mike_27972026-01-25 15:19
This seems to be highest karma total in long time i assume.
No wonder with the pilot episode of Frieren taking top spot and JJK best episode yet.
Cyd_arts2026-01-25 15:20
Bean counter finally made it on the chart! The karma downvoting was still really bad for this show tho
Galactus17012026-01-25 15:21
My Queen exactly where she belongs!
BaytaCosmico2026-01-25 15:22
People still be sleeping on Tamon-kun and Invisible Man. Two of the best this season. Bean Counter should be higher too but that's mainly low because the downvote brigade got to it.
cppn022026-01-25 15:28
Tamon-kun is slowly moving up and in the long term I can see it challenging for the top 15. Meanwhile Bean Counter's karma is actually already adjusted (imo still a bit too low) and that's why it appears here. The actual score was quite a bit lower and it would have missed the top 30.
BaytaCosmico2026-01-25 16:08
Damn, then people are sleeping on Bean Counter too. It really ought to be higher up. And I hope you're right about Tamon-kun. It really is such a fun show.
tripleaamin2026-01-25 16:00
Honestly, I feel like people see male idol-themed series and skip it. But honestly, it is more a shoujo rom-com than a male idol series, if that makes sense. The cast has so much charm, and the adaptation has been so goooooood so far.
Also, the manga is selling so well from it.
CerberusZX2026-01-25 16:04
>it is more a shoujo rom-com than a male idol series
I don't think that helps as much as you think it does.
BaytaCosmico2026-01-25 16:09
I don't think it's a typical shoujo romcom either. The romance is very understated and slow burn so far. I'd compare it to Kaguya-sama tbh in how it's more com than rom but with a lot of heart and excellent voice acting.
tripleaamin2026-01-25 16:22
Now that I think about it, you are right. Tbh it is difficult to narrow it down. Really a RomCom that has a strong cast that explores themselves with the fun premise of an idol stan being a housekeeper of her favorite idol.
Ocixo2026-01-25 16:28
I don't even remember the last time that a shoujosei series entered the top 5 of the karma charts on r/anime...
1000-MAT2026-01-25 16:50
Last season?
May I Ask for One Final Thing? is a shoujosei anime that ranked 5th or 4th for most of last season.
Silent Witch is also technically shoujo, and it almost came in first place.
We also can't forget Apothecary Diaries, which, although not classified as shoujosei, obviously is one.
Nyapan2026-01-25 17:11
I don't know if this is also the case for Ocixo but personally I don't count light novel adaptations as shoujosei even if they're made for a female audience. To me shoujosei is adapted from shoujo or josei manga so none of these count.
I hope this doesn't come across badly, I just wanted to express my opinion and don't mean anything bad by it.
dododomo2026-01-25 17:52
Invisible Man, Tamon's B side and Bean Counter should be higher imo! (The last one was review bombed due to episode 2 contents. On MAL it went from over 7,15 to under 6,9. Now is back to 7,07 with episode 3).
A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation deserve to be in top 30 too!
runevault2026-01-25 18:31
Tamon is the anime I'm most sad isn't higher (while being glad stuff like Polar opposites is doing so well considering everything above it). The main pair play off each other so well with the stan and her idol dynamic.
Time_Fracture2026-01-25 19:57
From the karma watch, the Bean Counter thread is kinda crazy.
It was increasing for the first 4 hours to 60 karma then at hour 5 it drops to 58, then hour 6 until hour 10 the karma was **0**. For 4 hours.
Also u/Abysswatcherbel is Bean Counter on the 30th this week? From the weekly ranking it seems to be on 46th. The 30th place should be Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider Ep. 15.
Komarist2026-01-25 20:26
Couple of us argued Bean Counter should be top-30 as bot votes should be removed when noticed. Chart was effectively finalized by the time it resolved, so Abyss slapped it in 30th and posted
cppn022026-01-25 20:59
Bean Counter was manually adjusted to offset at least some of the botted downvotes.
kingEdward222026-01-25 15:23
Wait there's a zombie land saga released ?!!! I like first 2 seasons
Shack6912026-01-25 15:26
Yeah the movie caps off the series after the S2 cliffhanger, it’s been out in JP for a while but Crunchyroll screened it as part of their anime nights program (single day limited release). It’ll probably be a couple more months before it goes to streaming.
tripleaamin2026-01-25 15:26
It was a 1-day release in US movie theaters for Eng Dub only. With that said, the movie was a blast, and the English dub is great. Even if it is annoying, the songs aren't dubbed.
FarCritical2026-01-25 15:23
There's a weird satisfaction in seeing Chained Soldier rise
tripleaamin2026-01-25 15:23
Netflix batch drops dropped 2 great ones. The first being **"Cosmic Princess Kaguya!"** and my goodness, from a production standpoint, it might be the best-looking show of the season. And that is over giants like Frieren & JJK. Even beyond the production, it hits a story that hits close to home. It is a must-watch if you are a big music and slice-of-life fan. Also plan to rewatch it in English dub since the songs are also sung in English.
The other that dropped is **Love Through a Prism**. I loved how it combines artistic visual arts with romance. The journey of the cast in doing what they love and want to do along with their obligations. How the cast tackles this is so outstanding. It makes for a great blend of romance, drama, and visual arts. Last year, many commented on Moonrise as it had great production values, but the story itself was bad. Not the case here.
Man, I can't gush about **Journal with Witch** enough. Just the storytelling and how it dives deep into our leads is so good. Each episode has been better than the last, as it really builds on itself so well.
**Golden Kamuy** is another one on a roll with a standout episode. While the adaptation isn't flashy by any means, the execution is rock solid. Which fans will consider how the adaptation first started. As the recent episode really shows how multidimensional most of the cast is.
I dropped **"A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans"**. Tbh the premise of a human who hates humans teaching demi-humans how to become human sounds nice. But, God, the dialogue and interactions are not good. This show feels closer to a harem series than what the series is actually about, with how the Mc is basically a self-insert. Monster Girls setup should be fun, but this somehow had 0 charm to it.
Kuramhan2026-01-25 15:25
This is the first season I'm actually watching and loving the entire top 9 here. Normally, there are always one or two shows raking in a lot of karma that I don't personally enjoy. This is the season where we align, /r/anime
BlankHeroineFluff2026-01-25 15:25
The top 5 isn't surprising, but Tamon being really low when it scores really high in other anime polls (around Top 5 at the highest and Top 10 at its lowest) is...something.
Cyd_arts2026-01-25 19:15
Its manga is also getting a big anime boost, it hit 2 million 1-2 weeks ago and then just hit 2.5 million with the release of vol 13 within a week.
Wokco302026-01-25 15:26
Kobayashi movie?
Time_Fracture2026-01-25 15:31
Streaming release on Netflix this week.
chilidirigible2026-01-25 15:34
The [*Maidragon* movie](https://myanimelist.net/anime/59897/Kobayashi-san_Chi_no_Maid_Dragon__Samishigariya_no_Ryuu) released on Netflix last week, but only in limited regions.
tripleaamin2026-01-25 15:54
Wonder why Crunchyroll didn't drop on streaming it if Netflix did.
Pharaoh_Misa2026-01-25 15:35
The movie came out last year in US theaters (I happened to miss it, school was killing me!) I've been hearing buzz that it's coming to Crunchyroll, but I haven't seen it. I guess people were talking about having insane animation as compared to OPM (or at least that's some of the comments I was seeing recently)?
TheStupid_Guy2026-01-25 15:27
Cosmic Princess Kaguya being here makes me happy
Oarner__2026-01-25 17:18
Fr, it is not being talked about at all, such a good movie
IQ_less2026-01-25 18:08
Visual wise its a feast but writing is somewhat lackluster imo. I wouldnt say this is outside expectation tho considering the studio's prev works. Pacing seems all over the places, there are stuff that shld had been dived in deeper (like the part when Kaguya starts streaming should had been given more emphasis on to show how much of a challenge it was, instead of bloating it over with a quick compilations of moments that simply show thats what she went through). Overall it's a treat to watch and animation is top tier no doubt, but there's so much potential that got wasted due to the somewhat decentralized script.
Mister_Enot2026-01-25 15:27
Golden kamui at top - nice!
Time_Fracture2026-01-25 15:28
We finally reach 20k karma this week aren't we?
Welcome back for Invisible Man and Bean Counter for reaching the top 30!
Favorite banner: Not sure whether Mayochu or OnK for this week.
Agile-Profession25802026-01-25 15:28
A bit new to this format, I can understand that the left column is the weekly ranking. What does the column on the right signify?
Shimmering-Sky2026-01-25 15:30
Both columns are the weekly ranking, left is 1-15 and right is 16-30.

Eris needs more love. The political mystery / intrigue is just starting to warm up.

Robbery JJK wasnt #1, I like frieren and everything but man NotToji was amazing to watch.

Are you strongest because you are Frieren or you are Frieren because nah you would win

I will!

Oh, sure, Bean Counter manages to reach the chart on a week where we didn't get to see \[Bean Counter\]>!Indolark curing Kondou with his dick!<.
It's weird seeing Cute Girl in the Hero's Party so high on the chart. It's decent enough that I haven't dropped it, but I'd put basically everything else on the chart above it, especially Holy Grail of Eris and Invisible Man's Soon-to-Be Wife.
GokaiRed642026-01-25 15:33
You and I are Polar Opposites is the romcom I've been looking for.
Last episode made me giggle and kick my feet twice
jus_plain_me2026-01-25 17:37
I'm really really enjoying it so far.
Seems like it has potential for a really good supporting cast as well.

tew2tew2026-01-25 15:41
And here we goooo. Time for Frieren to get glazed every day for 3 months over more deserving anime.
ball_throwerAFK2026-01-25 15:46
More deserving anime is crazy
ball_throwerAFK2026-01-25 15:42
People were doubting it but it happened! Fate got 3rd. I know it’s hard to get into the fate franchise but this series is incredible.
So far anime of the season for me, including all the other big names. It has everything, great production, music, VA, and the story is incredibly interesting.
CheeseDaver2026-01-25 15:47
Champignon Witch needs to be ranked much higher.
TheSmexhy2026-01-25 15:48
How is literally hentai above invisible man and blind girl? Damn.
mmcjawa_reborn2026-01-25 17:37

NovaAkumaa2026-01-25 15:49
Damn, nobody in here is interested in Fire Force and Golden Kamuy?
FatherDotComical2026-01-25 15:49
My top shows that aren't a sequel:
Tamon's B side
Shiboyugi
You and I are Polar Opposites
Kaya Chan
Weird one you should give a chance:
The Darwin Incident
A very different premise in the anime world. I say stick with it to see what it's cooking up. If you want something unusual from your typical anime I would try it.
I have even more because I'm watching 26 anime this season 😵💫
MikaelJ0m5v1k1ng2026-01-25 15:51
Frieren claims Top 1 spot this week. I'm not even surprised that it beat JJK on this ranking.
I just checked another website with a weekly ranking and JJK is top 1 there, maybe the population of Frieren enthusiasts are higher here in reddit.
MHA Vigilantes is getting lower on the list, it's sad that not all MHA fans watch the spin-off series, I'm lowkey enjoying it.
JzanderN2026-01-25 15:55
It feels unfair to every other anime that often gained karma compared to last week and still dropped a place because Frieren finally entered the fray and immediately stole first place.
I'm not complaining 'cause Frieren's amazing, but it still feels unfair to all the others that put in the work for their third episodes.
Muffin-zetta2026-01-25 15:56
Yeah that’s a good list
LeonKevlar2026-01-25 15:57
Sucks to see **Sentenced to be a Hero** be pushed down to #6 but it's still a good number considering it's up against established big names on this sub. It's doing pretty well for a new IP.
TheXskull2026-01-25 15:57

Hmmm I guess I should watch Cosmic Princess Kaguya
Aggressive-Check-1012026-01-25 16:01

TheRealJaminator2026-01-25 16:02
Damn might have to watch frieren now
Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-25 16:04
Frieren is back and so is 7k+ karma. JJK fandom is also awakened and we get a nice 5.2K karma count for episode 4. Fitting enough, since that was one of the best JJK episodes in any of the seasons so far (probably my #1 JJK ep so far). Since it looks like Frieren's numbers will go down this week, we will actually have some excitement for the #1 spot going forward.
Oshi no Ko and Jigokuraku are a bit disappointing in comparison and get passed by Fate. I think at least OnK should be higher based on past performance and quality of the episode... Add Sentence to be a Hero to that lot, and I think we will see these four series fight over the weekly third place in coming weeks.
The #7 spot or so will be a battle between Polar Opposites, Ikoku Nikki and Shiboyugi, who all seem to get around 1K karma, though Ikoku Nikki is improving every week and Polar Opposites might be losing steam.
For the series with lower karma, I am perplexed with Trigun's poor karma scores, since it seems to be on the verge of dropping from the top 15. At least Golden Kamuy improved a bit.
I am glad to see that Cosmic Princess Kaguya managed to enter the top 15 on the week of its release. Highly recommend the movie to everyone, go see it!
fenixspider12026-01-25 16:06
This month is literally the best month for animes.
Adamskispoor2026-01-25 16:06
I like how until fate the increase are incrementals and then JJK leapfrogged fate and Frieren leapfrogged JJK
animepig2026-01-25 16:09
It sucks that Trigun Stargaze is getting buried this season cause every big IP is also airing. This week’s episode was amazing.
zool7142026-01-25 16:15
Wasn’t expecting **Invisible Man** to be high but didn’t think it’d be that low either. Healthy, straightforward, mature, considerate adult relationship + an urban fantasy setting + insight into the blind’s everyday life. Thought it was interesting and sweet and should be higher
**Wash It All Away** is one I expect to be a bit low though. I can see not everyone would be into that type of show but it’s one of my fav this season. It’s definitely right up my alley
The Top 10 are some hard-hitters though. Each one of them is a show that I can’t wait the next episode for
Nikita23372026-01-25 16:15
I watched Cosmic princess Kaguya on a whim and was floored how great it actually was. I really needed something fun like that too after binging Madoka for the first time in preparation for the movie that got delayed again anyway.
MichiganMitch2026-01-25 16:21
Can I watch Fate/Strange if I haven’t seen any of the other fate series?
ExcelziorZenith2026-01-25 16:35
Yes you can but the experience would be elevated by watching Fate Zero and/or Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works beforehand. You can still watch it as your first entry to the Fate series but you might end up a bit lost on the systems and the framework of the universe as well as miss some references to previous content.
Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-25 16:23
"Sub does not like battle shounens". JJK with 5k karma again (after HeroAka being on similar position last season).
Anyway, nothing surprising with rankings but I am more or less content with them.

It's been over a year, but we're finally back with an episode over 7000 Karma. Here's the updated list of all episodes that have surpassed that mark since Summer 2023.
And fun fact, Frieren's episode surpassing 7000 Karma by just 11 Karma was the closest make of any episode that topped 7000 Karma.
1000-MAT2026-01-25 20:24
This year is very strong, so it will probably happen again.
AnividiaRTX2026-01-25 21:27
Having so many good anime coming out right now encourages more redditors to use the r/anime threads rather than just stay within the more specific subs. If the big hitters keep hitting it out of the park like jjk and frieren just did, we might even get a couple over 10k by the time this season is over.
Kurovalia2026-01-26 04:40
I did come back to the sub after like 2022 and was surprised the karma rankings were so low. Out of curiosity could anyone explain to me why that's the case? Was there a mass exodus of users following a certain event or did discussion here specifically just die down?
codylish2026-01-26 10:53
Ever since the reddit community had the website wide strikes several years ago. Reddit overall has lost a significant amount of activity and interesting contributions. The big turning point I believe was around the time of the API changes and some other conglomerate issues back then, like massive amounts of advertisements being loaded into the app, buggy user interface problems, mod teams getting replaced entirely or removed, and tons and tons of people's favorite porn subreddits receiving the axe. It all came together and left a mark.
Maybe part of it is tiktok taking over and becoming the biggest app to doom scroll on, too.
zadcap2026-01-26 13:15
Building on what codylish said, a lot of people have not liked the new designs reddit keeps forcing through, and the API change mentioned effectively shut down almost every alternate or enhanced reddit app. A lot of people really, *really* hated the super user unfriendly new design, the sudden loss of all the extras they had been using to make reddit more accessible, the reddit mods completely ignoring literally any complaints or feedback, and that every fourth (now seventh) thing you scroll past being an ad. This drove away a lot of the older users, but a lot of people who stayed voted for a near complete reddit wide blackout in protest. For a few days, a week, and in some cases months, most of the large subreddits went private so that no one could see or use them in a major forced boycott. r/anime was down for about a week, which was enough to drive away a lot of the newer members who were just here to see episode discussions and otherwise not care about the community. 2023 was a bad year for reddit, and then... 2024 was kind of a bad year for anime in general. Which is a lie, it was amazing, but it was a year with very few big shonen titles and those are what tend to draw in the numbers. Even Frieren up there, taking half of the list, was only hit on the action heavy episodes -"Aura, KYS" and the final dungeon fight. The few shows that really hit it off in popularity had their own subreddits for people to gush in, and the number of people who both still wanted to use reddit and cared about the less popular genres of shows, well, there wasn't very much of us. And then 2025 uh... Was actually a great year for anime, but people were already funneled into their specific subreddits or just not using reddit in general.
Reddit in general hasn't recovered its old numbers, ticktok and youtube shorts are easier to doom scroll through and require less effort to consume than opening and interacting with this kind of chat forum. Anime is gaining more mainstream popularity, but honestly the biggest thing getting people back to this reddit was Crunchyroll removing episode comments. If you want to discuss anything other than MHA, JJK, or any other big action shonen with their large and active subreddits, you pretty much have to come back here and hope enough other people trickle in too.
In short, Reddit itself messed up, a protest drove more people away, and there hasn't been much to draw people back to this sub specifically. Frieren is our flagship because it mostly falls into the slow seinen vibes that stayed popular here and only occasionally peaked into the kind of energy that made those action shows so popular, not enough for its own subreddit to really kick off.
UnloadedFour3142026-01-25 16:59
I just want to highlight my favorite show this season "Journal with Witch".
I went in completely blind and was blown away by how great it is. It's full of heart and the studio is handling the manga with the love and care it deserves.
TheDanubianCommunard2026-01-25 17:01
Frieren is back with 7K+ karma, which is really great. Strange Fake third place, it is totally deserved.
oedipusrex3762026-01-25 17:09
It's kinda wild seeing 3 anime movies make it into the weekly ranking all in the same week.
RottenPingu12026-01-25 17:22
Am I blind not seeing Champignon Witch?
_Ridley2026-01-25 17:33
Do you know where **Tamon's B-Side** is? It's one spot higher than it was last week! Let's keep up the good work and move it into the left column soon. Tamon-kun wa kami!
The weirdos tried to keep a good man down, but **The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter** makes the chart despite significant downvoting. If you downvote a BL series you're not watching, you should lose your yuri privileges.
cppn022026-01-25 17:52
>Do you know where Tamon's B-Side is? It's one spot higher than it was last week!
I called Tamon slowly moving up in previous weeks and I'm glad I'm being proven right.
Bean counter was off the chart initially but at u/Komarist's and my behest the score was adjusted so that it would appear here.
_Ridley2026-01-25 17:58
> I called Tamon slowly moving up in previous weeks and I'm glad I'm being proven right.
It's exactly the kind of fun but heartfelt romcom we need in these troubled times.
>Bean counter was off the chart initially but at u/Komarist's and my behest the score was adjusted so that it would appear here.

Such a goated season.
People are sleeping on Cosmic princess Kaguya though. The movie is very cute, more deep than you think it would be, animation is also peak

____
Week 4 of the Winter 2026 finally includes the remaining 2 stragglers to really kick this season off. And 1 of those stragglers is poised to be the karma leader for the rest of the season whose premiere contributed almost 1/4th of the massive 26,773 karma for this week which is +8227 karma from last week. We also have a number of movies in the Top 30 this week and a special case at 30th to address when we get to it.
___
**Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End S2** debuts in 1st place with **7011 karma**. 1200 comments is 2nd in most comments for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.17. MAL score starts off at 9.30. The Elf and her new party were dormant in 2025, but are back in 2026 to bring the first 7k+ karma episode thread since [Fall 2024](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qmk10l/ranime_karma_ranking_discussion_week_4_winter_2026/o1mtnj5/) with the first season of *DAN DA DAN*. And the episode wasn't really focused on her either, it was on Stark who was really benched in the second half of S1. Very needed for him.
**JUJUTSU KAISEN: The Culling Game P1** moves down -1 spot to 2nd with 5193 karma which is +2544 karma from last week. 1743 comments is +970 comments from last week, 1st in comments for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.34. MAL score is 8.04 which is +0.04 from last week. If it can't win in karma with a +2.5k boost, win in comments. 1743 comments???
**Fate/strange Fake** moves up +1 spot to 3rd with 2162 karma which is +432 karma from last week. 917 comments is +83 comments from last week, 3rd most for the week, and a very strong comment to karma ratio of 0.42. MAL score is 8.05 which is +0.05 from last week. Also a big help in contributing to the overall karma increase with a big sakuga action episode for this week.
**【Oshi no Ko】 S3** moves down -2 spots to 4th with 1921 karma which is -650 karma from last week. 429 comments is -17 comments from last week, 5th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.22. MAL score is 8.05 which is +0.05 from last week. Oh my god that OP. It's so good that it actually overshadows what is happening in the episode itself even though I love hearing Akane's thoughts and please have more respect for yourself. You are too good for Aqua. -650 karma? Doesn't matter. That's just the standard Ep. 2 decrease I say with maybe a hint of copium in there.
**Hell’s Paradise S2** moves down -2 spots to 5th with 1869 karma, which is -485 karma from last week. 263 comments is +3 comments from last week, 9th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.14. MAL score is 8.05 which is +0.05 from last week. Ep. 2 karma drop, but Sagiri/Gabimaru fans got a nice treat even though that is a ship with caveats.
**Sentenced to Be a Hero** moves down -1 spot to 6th with 1788 karma which is +136 karma from last week. 384 comments is +67 comments from last week, 6th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.21. MAL score is 8.38 which is -0.06 from last week. Karma up for this Norgalle episode. A True King putting his people first.
**You and I Are Polar Opposites** moves down -1 spot to 7th with 1225 karma which is -354 karma from last week. 296 comments is -85 comments from last week, 8th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.24. MAL score is 8.10 which is +0.04 from last week. They are really cute together and a love confession in Ep. 2. Didn't stop the karma drop, but still good vibes in the thread.
**SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table** moves down -1 spot to 8th with 1025 karma which is +56 karma from last week. 324 comments is -198 comments from last week, 7th most for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.32. MAL score is 7.87 which is -0.01 from last week. Karma up, but engagement down as we really learn about early Yuki and Mishiro in this 10th Game. A+ Pettiness there.
**Journal with Witch** stays at 9th with 961 karma which is +276 karma from last week. 252 comments is +77 comments from last week, 10th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.26. MAL score is 8.23 which is +0.23 from last week. Big boost for this episode and it's deserved just for how relatable (to me at least) how different everyday life is (and when that sinks in) when you lose someone close to you. Wish it got to 1k karma, but I'll take the massive MAL score boosts.
**Fire Force S3 Part 2** moves up +1 spot to 10th with 748 karma which is +81 karma from last week. 140 comments is +7 comments from last week, 19th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.19. MAL score is 7.70 which is the same as last week. Really interesting Benimaru fight complete with an artstyle change to boost the numbers this week.
**Chained Soldier S2** moves up +2 spots to 11th with 676 karma which is +105 karma from last week. 98 comments is +11 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.14. MAL score is 7.50 which is the same as last week. Recovering from Ep. 2 karma drop with some good quality Yakumo reward scenes.
**My Hero Academia: Vigilantes S2** moves down -2 spots to 12th with 641 karma which is -26 karma from last week. 103 comments is -68 comments from last week, 30th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.16. MAL score is 7.41 which is -0.02 from last week.
**Tune In to the Midnight Heart** moves up +1 spot to 13th with 581 karma which is +52 karma from last week. 135 comments is -36 comments from last week, 20th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.23. MAL score is 7.23 which is -0.01 from last week. Karma up with the focus of the episode being on the streamer of the harem in Iko. Really like her and Yamabuki really getting to show off that refreshing personality for a harem romcom like this.
**Cosmic Princess Kaguya!** end up at 14th with 486 karma. 106 comments is 28th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.22. MAL score on the chart is 8.41. Really great that an original movie ended up in the left side in a stacked season like this and I'm glad it's this one.
**TRIGUN STARGAZE** moves down -3 spots to 15th with also 486 karma which is -179 karma from last week. 90 comments is -72 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.19. MAL score is 7.41 which is +0.02 from last week. So close to a karma and comment tiebreaker, but being 16 less comments means it has to settle for 15th.
**Golden Kamuy: Final Chapter** rises +4 spots to 16th with 468 karma which is +62 karma from last week. 100 comments is +23 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.21. Big boost to almost the left side for a more intense and brutal episode.
**GNOSIA** moves down -1 spot to 17th with 465 karma which is +27 karma from last week. 177 comments is -45 comments from last week, tied for 14th most for the week with *Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing*, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.21. Full roster for this loop's game and we are adding the AC Follower to make it even more difficult and interesting.
**Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved** ends up at 19th with 442 karma. 59 comments does not make Top 30 in comments for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.13.
**The Holy Grail of Eris** moves down -3 spots to 20th with 408 karma which is -26 karma from last week. 175 comments is -71 comments from last week, 25th most for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.30. This Constance and Scarlett friendship developing enough that Constance can be Scarlett's hype girl when she's in control is great and we get more details on the mystery behind Scarlett's execution too.
**Tamon’s B-Side** moves down -1 spot to 21st with 407 karma which is +31 karma from last week. 115 comments is -25 comments from last week, 27th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.28. Tamon's on a quest to know what love is and Uta-chan is helping out with that, but also Ouri's feelings are getting stronger for Utage now too. Love triangle boosting karma!
**Roll Over and Die** moves down -3 spots to 22nd with 370 karma which is -48 karma from last week. 217 comments is -10 comments from last week, 11th most for the week, and an incredibly strong comment to karma ratio of 0.59. Building back up our own (yuri) party here and adding a Priestess in Sara. Engagement is still high in the comments, but the show is bleeding karma like Flum is whenever she loses a limb.
**’Tis Time for Torture, Princess S2** drops -8 spots to 23rd with 337 karma which is -116 karma from last week. 88 comments is -43 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.26.
**Wash It All Away** moves down -1 spot to 24th with 308 karma which is -11 karma from last week. 145 comments is +53 comments from last week, 17th most for the week, and a very strong comment to karma ratio of 0.47. I can appreciate these Kinme shots when I didn't expect there to be that much in a cozy show like this, but I'm also intrigued on the look at Kinme's past before the amnesia.
**Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary** drops -4 spots to 25th with 296 karma which is -97 karma from last week. 104 comments is -50 comments from last week, 29th most for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.35. Hanging in there in the Top 30, but I really like this show. Kaya is getting more adults to support her and the end of episode message about not dismissing the things your children is a really important one to stress.

Part 2 of the Recap:
___
**Does It Count If You Lose Your Innocence to an Android?** drops -19 spots to 27th with 292 karma which is -513 karma from last week. 45 comments is -118 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.15. Nadeshiko has an adorable smile, but also the Ep. 2 dropoff + ecchi dropoff hit fierce on this show. Might be hard in general for a series with 5 minute episodes to stay in the Top 30.
**Zombieland Saga Movie: Yumeginga Paradise** ends up at 28th with 286 karma. 82 comments does not make Top 30 in comments for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.29.
**The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife** rises +5 spots to 29th with 274 karma which is +49 karma from last week. 124 comments is +26 comments from last week, 24th most for the week, and a very strong comment to karma ratio of 0.45. It's in a serious cuteness competition with *You and I Are Polar Opposites*. Vibes that wholesome - it's no wonder it climbed into the Top 30.
**Isekai Office Worker: The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter** is a special case. It's 30th here with 249 karma which needed to be adjusted to that number because with its 67% upvote ratio in its [thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qi2nme/isekai_no_sata_wa_shachiku_shidai_isekai_office/), it got downvoted enough in bad faith to be at 132 karma after 48 hours. But even an adjusted 249 karma isn't more than *Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider*'s [271 karma for Ep. 15](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qfik79/toujima_tanzaburou_wa_kamen_rider_ni_naritai/). But consider this compensation for getting robbed out of a Top 30 spot last week. 209 comments is -261 comments from last week, 12th most for the week, and a ridiculously strong comment to karma ratio of 0.84 (using the adjusted 249 karma number).
___
**Favorite banner of the week**: *【Oshi no Ko】 S3*. I love Akane. I have to. 2nd would be *Tamon's B-Side* with Utage ready to fire. 3rd would be *SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table* and seeing just how petty Yuki could be.

Incidentally, it's interesting how differently the latest episode of [**Jujutsu Kaisen S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qjyiwr/comment/o12xlco/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) was received in Japan (harsh criticism) and abroad (praise).
We also had one show break the 2k karma barrier – **Fate/Strange Fake** (3rd place), and five other shows break the 1k karma barrier – [**Oshi no Ko S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qj0b3i/comment/o0vdrz8/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (4th place), [**Hell's Paradise S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qgb9o8/comment/o0b8yqm/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (5th place), [**Sentenced to Be a Hero**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qjupo4/comment/o11z8z5/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (6th place), [**You and I Are Polar Opposites**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qg3b1b/comment/o09jo92/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (7th place), and [**Shiboyugi**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qizj0g/comment/o0vlsj5/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (8th place).

Hopefully it's at least unanimous in both the JP-speaking and EN-speaking world that Maki's turned into an absolute goddess of war. She's always looked baller, but by golly she's gone to plaid in E4.
But this criticism of JJK S3 is just sheer nitpicking to the highest degree lol.
That said, I'm so glad that *You and I Are Polar Opposites* is doing fairly consistently great here. I'm so happy with the flourishes for the adaptation and the ENG dub lands on that fun *Kaguya-sama* sweet spot minus the tonal whiplash.
Both in Streaming and National TV rankings.
The mere fact that it airs on a Sunday afternoon in Japan and thus in the wee hours of the morning in the West, but still have relatively okay karma tells something about the show's quality.
OnK and Shiboyugi still doing good.
Also go watch Cosmic Princess Kaguya! It's a long movie, but the discussion thread is still active even 3 days later.
Very happy that **Ikoku Nikki** with the imo best episode of the season so far is still hanging onto that 9th spot and even gained some good karma.
It’s going to be different on every site lol.
Yes Frieren was a good episode, but it was not as good as that JJK Maki episode.
This sub is more "old school" and skews towards older weeb tastes, but ever since Covid where anime became mainstream, "hype moments" and "aura" dominate the top spots, hence why we get Solo Leveling and JJK breaking ahead
I'm hopeful that the show's audience will keep growing if words get around about just how good the show actually is. I've been very impressed so far.
5k is the new 10k
10000 Karma was always a really tough feat with only 85 individual episodes ever reaching that thresh-hold. If you remove Attack on Titan and Re:Zero, it was only 37 episodes over 8 years of tracking prior to the shutdown. The fact that we've had more than 20 episodes over 6000 Karma in the past 2 and a half years is plenty to account for episodes that would have gotten over 10000 Karma previously.
This is reminiscent of 2017 to 2018-ish karma wherein great anime series get about 7-10k that time.
^(ow my back)
Then the Reddit blackout happened. Fun times.
That never happened plus [the only time we ever came close to an all 2k+ top 15 was actually in Spring 2021](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/mtcdcq/ranime_karma_poll_ranking_week_2_spring_2021/?depth=10)
In 2025, SL had the highest karma episode.
But yeah I don’t know of any other anime that will get similar karma to Frieren’s
Also Solo leveling had 6.8K karma. It was close
[](#seasonallisten)
They did lol
But only today
Most JJK fans don't even visit this sub often they have their own more active discussion subs.
Idk why you all mention jjk so much
Why are you guys obsessed with jjk though?
Why do you care about coming to the defense of that dude so much
[also I’m a JJK fan myself](https://imgur.com/a/SQRkXJy)
Just pointing out why OP would make a random comment slandering Frieren .
To be fair the op is so good you could use a different image per week and still look interesting
Im surprised that Cosmic Kaguya only have 486 points, I thought it was hyped by this community
Though honestly, Kaguya did pretty solidly for a new IP.
Just wish sentence to be a hero was higher
I wonder what will happen next week since there is significant drop in Frieren's karma for next week. Will the Number 1 spot be a competition between Frieren and JJK, which is somewhat not expected?
No wonder with the pilot episode of Frieren taking top spot and JJK best episode yet.
Also, the manga is selling so well from it.
I don't think that helps as much as you think it does.
I hope this doesn't come across badly, I just wanted to express my opinion and don't mean anything bad by it.
A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation deserve to be in top 30 too!
Welcome back for Invisible Man and Bean Counter for reaching the top 30!
Favorite banner: Not sure whether Mayochu or OnK for this week.
It's weird seeing Cute Girl in the Hero's Party so high on the chart. It's decent enough that I haven't dropped it, but I'd put basically everything else on the chart above it, especially Holy Grail of Eris and Invisible Man's Soon-to-Be Wife.
Last episode made me giggle and kick my feet twice
Seems like it has potential for a really good supporting cast as well.
So far anime of the season for me, including all the other big names. It has everything, great production, music, VA, and the story is incredibly interesting.
I just checked another website with a weekly ranking and JJK is top 1 there, maybe the population of Frieren enthusiasts are higher here in reddit.
MHA Vigilantes is getting lower on the list, it's sad that not all MHA fans watch the spin-off series, I'm lowkey enjoying it.
I'm not complaining 'cause Frieren's amazing, but it still feels unfair to all the others that put in the work for their third episodes.
Hmmm I guess I should watch Cosmic Princess Kaguya
Impossible, rare reddit W
**Wash It All Away** is one I expect to be a bit low though. I can see not everyone would be into that type of show but it’s one of my fav this season. It’s definitely right up my alley
The Top 10 are some hard-hitters though. Each one of them is a show that I can’t wait the next episode for
Anyway, nothing surprising with rankings but I am more or less content with them.
|Rank|Anime|Episode|Karma|Season|
--:|:--|--:|--:|:--|
|1|Frieren|28|11347|Winter 2024|
|2|Attack on Titan 4P3|2|11057|Fall 2023|
|3|Dandadan|7|10370|Fall 2024|
|4|Dandadan|1|8950|Fall 2024|
|5|Frieren|26|8126|Winter 2024|
|6|Mushoku Tensei 2P2|10|7861|Spring 2024|
|7|Frieren|27|7153|Fall 2023|
|8|Frieren|10|7146|Fall 2023|
|9|Frieren 2|1|7011|Winter 2026|
And fun fact, Frieren's episode surpassing 7000 Karma by just 11 Karma was the closest make of any episode that topped 7000 Karma.
Maybe part of it is tiktok taking over and becoming the biggest app to doom scroll on, too.
I went in completely blind and was blown away by how great it is. It's full of heart and the studio is handling the manga with the love and care it deserves.
The weirdos tried to keep a good man down, but **The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter** makes the chart despite significant downvoting. If you downvote a BL series you're not watching, you should lose your yuri privileges.
I called Tamon slowly moving up in previous weeks and I'm glad I'm being proven right.
Bean counter was off the chart initially but at u/Komarist's and my behest the score was adjusted so that it would appear here.
It's exactly the kind of fun but heartfelt romcom we need in these troubled times.
>Bean counter was off the chart initially but at u/Komarist's and my behest the score was adjusted so that it would appear here.
[](#salute)
People are sleeping on Cosmic princess Kaguya though. The movie is very cute, more deep than you think it would be, animation is also peak
