Akari, activating her heroine powers, looks like she's targeting Aquasteed now that Hartknights has lost interest.
In fairness it seems like she had a crush on him from her past life from her knowledge of the sequel game where he was the main romanceable character. So having him come save her and adore her to bits is just building on that to make her fall head over heels for him now.
>Akari, activating her heroine powers, looks like she's targeting Aquasteed now that Hartknights has lost interest.
She can't stand that everybody wants Tiara and are treating her like an interloper, so she's going to remind everyone that she's the special one.
It also looks like she attacks Tiara in the next episode preview, so that might be her ultimate undoing.
She must be isekaied as well.
Every episode I have the feeling that I'm watching the anime version of one of those old romance novels you would find a dime a dozen where a bunch of "perfect" man all fawn over the female lead and she is constantly reminded she is just adored and loved everywhere (after the initial rejection) and she just ends with the bestests most goodest of them all.
And as with most of these kinds of self-indulgent romances (like A Sign of Affection did sometimes too), any and all red flags will get shrugged off and seen as adorable quirks of someone in love.
I doubt there will be any major twists except perhaps that Akari is also very likely to be isekai'd as well.
Akari very well may have woken up the heroine one day and is wondering why she is not the main character adored by all the other characters. She wants both Princes in the same way gamers want to be able to romance all love interests, and does not like it when the game world takes away certain love interests based on in-game choices.
The big tell is that Akari absolutely does not seem to understand courtly etiquette. The excuse that "she's a commoner" or "she's from the country" does not fly. Commoners and country folk are still raised with a basic level of etiquette that Akari does not have. Most likely because she is a modern, entitled gamer who never gave too much thought about the world-building of their favourite *Otome* game.
Not gonna lie, [I kinda feel bad for Hartknights.](https://i.imgur.com/muhCDyc.png) He's not a bad person. He's just a massive idiot who got fooled by Akari, and now he's starting to regret his actions, but it's all too late for him.
[The first kiss scene was actually really pretty.](https://i.imgur.com/7zu06Lp.png) Too bad Akari just had to steal the moment with her magic. Hartknights is definitely gonna end up being forced to get engaged with Akari. Not sure what Aqua's kingdom will do when they figured out, but I doubt he'll just suddenly want Akari because of that.
First kiss and makeout session and it's only the 3rd episode!
Aqua's reaction to seeing Akari's lightshow: "Well, that just happened. Hey, you want to go get dinner?"
Honestly, I kinda blame his staff. A prince s retainers exist to keep him from being an idiot and making sure stuff like this doesn’t happen. He should have somebody following him around
Though, it's not an anime (yet) the one exception to this I can think of is the WN/LN "Otome Heroine's Fight For Survival" (If you've never read it I can't recommend it enough it's S tier on many different levels) features many people around the "heroine" character all desperately trying to keep the future of the kingdom secure as soon as they realize that the heroine is dangerous and the prince is an idiot. (This is a very very vague spoiler free summery)
There must be an anime that manages this too somewhere but I have no clue. Honestly it's one of my big complaints with isekai despite personally enjoying the genre way to often reincarnators being reincarnated often stop mattering as soon as the first arc is done. The exception being kingdom builder types where they are all god-like masters of politics and engineering somehow lol
It’s so bad that I only realized it was a problem thx to Ascendance of a bookworm where all the high ranking Nobles have attendants who keep them from doing stupid things and regularly report any major issues to their parents. They are also held responsible when those nobles do something stupid since it’s literally their job to stop that from happening.
And we should be seeing that in the upcoming fourth season of bookworm, which I am very excited about. That’s a part where the series is really dives into Noble drama
And yes. Otome heroine s fight for survival is f’ing amazing. I’m two or three chapters behind on the most recent volume on j-novel. Can’t say I’ve loved this one that much but overall the series has been fantastic.
Oh and if you haven’t read it, I do recommend the manga/wn the villager wants to save the villainess. The first chapter weirdly seems like a copy paste rip off of the world of otome games is tough for mobs. But the MC is so much better and actually thinks things through to an insane degree. Dude literally writes up a plan in his head in ch1 that takes him halfway through the wn. And his isekai knowledge definitely comes to play quite a bit all throughout the series
Hard as it is to believe, Aqua did not start out hatting Hartknights' guts. But the moment he saw Tiara, he knew she was the perfect woman who could match him in nobility, intelligence, and composure. And he could not help feeling drawn to her and how cute she looked when she ate sweets.
Of course he thought this would be a fleeting first love, never to come to fruition, given she was already engaged to someone else...all he could hope for was just being able to carry her after she fainted back in episode 1. He never could have imagined Hartknights would hand him the perfect opportunity to steal her away and make her HIS fiance!
We now catch up to the present where Hartknights is able to transform outfits in-between scenes to interrupt Hartknights trying to put his hands on Tiara...something he has no right to any more. Let's double down on how much Hartknights lost!
Aqua really knows the way to a girls' heart is sweets and tea...especially when they can enjoy it together with their loyal ride-or-die attendants Elliot and Philine.
But as nice as the company is, the two lovebirds need some time alone to profess their love and passionately kiss! Aqua is straight up kissing every corner of Tiara's face! And she can't resist him!
I'm not surprised Akari is bored out of her mind, or that she couldn't help herself but try to stand out...by using the Heroine's Holy Prayer to remind everyone SHE is the Heroine. And now Tiara is worried that Aqua will be focused on Akari and her specialness. But I don't think he cares near as much as he does making Tiara happy.
"The kiss from the one I love" when it doesn't even seem like a month has gone by just seems to be way too quick to admit. I don't even feel like we've seen her properly move on from her time with Hartknights. This development is just so odd to me.
Lol Akari is so desperate though, using her prayer ability to try and steal Aquasteed.
I’m not even sure if a week has passed
That being said, the pacing for this romance seems crazy fast. It doesn't really paint either of them in a good light.
Otome Isekai Time 💃🏾
Listen. It’s a standard for the ML to have a fan club. But it’s a *delight* when the FL has a fan club, and the girls are screaming.
Bonus points if the ML has a fan club, but it’s all guys who absolutely adore him. We need more energy like that.
Me when men be yearning and longing: 😮💨🤤🫦
Maid x Guard pairing.
OG!FL, good luck with that “great idea” you speak of 😒
We had it twice today where MLs are holding the FL’s faces, I love it.
Uncensored kiss 🎉 I rise! I rise!
Mkay, manifesting Savior’s Book Café in Another World having an anime announcement.
All right, Harknights, catch the OGFL and lock her up.
***
I hope more OG!FLs were good people or became good people get adapted. Love it when the OGFL and new FL become friends. <Young Lady Albert> has that, which I *adore*.
Actually just finished the first volume of a manga that was two dollars on amazon where the fl regains her memories early and does everything she can so she doesn't have to become a student later and go to the school where the story takes place. She ends up having to go there anyways but not as a student and now has all the girls crushing on her and hanging around where she works.
(I think it was him who said that, it’s been so long)
But it’s so fucking cute. It happens in OI and fantasy, and it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and a but infantilizing, but damn, I do enjoy it when the FL has a legit fan club wanting to protect her beauty and grace.
It’s a bonus when the ML joins the fan club!
There's still time to introduce some conflict or a goal or anything at all, but I'm not sure I want to stick around when a show uses half of episode 3 to summarize episode 1 from a perspective that barely gives any new information. The source material has been going for nearly a decade, so I was kind of expecting a hook or wow factor early on.
Love the OP, though. I replay it every week.
Second episode raised a forest of red flags: man is a stalker. He spent an entire year being a voyeur peeping on this woman's private moments. A woman he knew was spoken for, but let himself get carried away with yearning for.
This episode, I could barely go a few minutes before bailing. I can't even list all the problems I have with it. I'm used to Otome romances being at least some flavor of toxic, but this... everything was off, and not just the romance.
I'm out.
Heck, she wants to collect husbands and hurt those close to them. *shudders* What was she like in her past life?
I mean that’s literally the premise of Eminence in Shadow and people eat that up
Well except those who resist and get killed/exiled/conquered.
This isn't a strict criticism btw lol, plenty of animes point out this exact thing and criticize it often with characters like Akari who can't separate the fiction they previously knew from the reality they are currently living.
But then he'll just randomly spew some BS to look cool in front of someone, and it all winds up being true. It's like the entire world is built around his chunni impulses.
You're not supposed to take any of it seriously and just laugh at the absurdity of it all.
- [Dang, he actually manipulated the weather just so Tiara’s book wouldn’t get wet?](https://i.imgur.com/xYEZyUr.png)
- Did we need to spend half the episode rehashing stuff we already knew from the first two episodes though? [](#harukathonk)
- [That cake *does* look delicious though.](https://i.imgur.com/NMBDAja.png) [](#drool)
- [Huh, do only nobles have last names in this world then?](https://i.imgur.com/DeDUzJ2.png) Or is it just Aqua’s country that’s like that?
- [What idea…](https://i.imgur.com/k3ypVFB.png) [](#sakurathink)
- [Ah, a kiss!](https://i.imgur.com/7bd9rUY.png)
- […huh.](https://i.imgur.com/rp7X2fL.png)
It was like that for a good while in our world as well. Your "surname" would be something like Johnson if your father was John, or Smith if your job was a smith etc. Iceland still uses the parents name like that instead of a hereditary one.
Which for some reasons took quite a few quirky turns and now means something else mostly.
"It's like the scary version of him from a moment ago never existed" is one hell of a red flag statement. I assume this will be all happy and lovey and won't go there, but that's absolutely the sort of thing a victim thinks about the behavior they're trying to excuse from their abuser.
Not just a kiss but an extended make out session in just episode three, hot damn.
Thinking about it Bibliophile Princess was way before its time.
Why does a prince from another kingdom have tons of paperwork and a office in a different kingdom while also being a student...?
No, my actual feeling towards this episode is just... it really should have been episode 2 right? Or at least a large part of it and the actual episode 2 should have been rearranged. Not only did this episode do a much better job of showing Aqua's feelings and reasoning it also gave a better idea of what the larger story will be, beyond just the romance between the leads. IE: The heroine has some actual power and it doesn't look like our lead does at all, though I expect that to change.
My one curse is.. I kinda hate that Prince Harknight is actually pretty sympathetic. I just can't relate the asshole who was going to exile his fiance for this girl who he instantly fell for with the prince who looked so heart broken when he realized he would never get a chance to be with his actual fiance again. I'm not saying I want a homicidal or idiotic prince but just a better idea of how he ended up thinking the public condemnation and exile were at all good ideas. If he were at least rude to the MC or maybe one of the MC's followers actually was bullying the heroine then I could buy it. I just need an excuse, something to connect the dots.
I love OI but this is painfully boring to me.
It's basically a soap opera.
