At least Puppeteer Brook still alive
Meanwhile, that one-eyed bastard having a rough romantic Bōchūjutsu vacation with a flawless beauty while everyone else fights for their lives.
Hoko's apologetic way of offering his life to Mei as he cries over how he basically projects his daughter onto her was a tragic way to go out but also made worse knowing the fact his entire race of people were just a Civ run by Tensen as an experiment as well, left to die after they served their purpose.
Hoko and Mei were a true father and daughter in the end. Both of them were victims of the Tensen, even if Mei used to be one of them, and both came together after being cast out of/losing their family.
I guess it goes to show how much Senta's death effected Fuchi that he's not in the mood to kill or dissect anything. Which I guess is good because he's the closest they've got to a team doctor AND scientist, and that means he's the best person to take care of Mei in her condition and converse with her to get to the bottom of what's going on in this island.
Gabimaru has got his memories back but he needs a good workout to warm himself back up...so why not fight everybody? It's also a perfect opportunity to better understand how to fight with and manage Tao. Can he defeat the Tensen in pure Tao? No, but he can manipulate Tao and that might be able to make up the difference. Plus Shion, with his understanding of how the Tao elements work, might also provide another means of beating these twisted plant immortals.
"Man-woman" Toma has resolved to no loner be a hindrance to his brother...and if that means cutting his hair to learn how to truly fight from Gantetsusai, so be it. Sure, he's still planning to kill everybody but his brother, but that's some nice gumption Toma!
Chobe has better mastered his transformation so he can still retain his sanity, and he knows the Tensen's biggest weakness...but Rien also has an army of Rien clones, so he never really had a chance.
Is being tied up while Rien, in female form, undresses to engage in Bochu Jutsu with you the worst thing in the world? Especially when they're willing to make it as pleasurable for you as possible? And they look so stunning and seductive while naked?
This all began when Grandmaster Shufu, or Jokura, sailed to experiment on Tao and began human experiments that lead to the human-plant hybrid known as the Tensen. Yes, the Tensen are beyond humanity, but they also still need to find ways to prolong their life...like making people into kan they can drink or finding the actual Elixir of Immortality that everyone wants. That's right, it DOES exist, even if it's not completed yet.
But what is the Tensen's endgame? What is the ultimate endgoal? Well, other than fully mastering Tao and becoming truly immortal...bring the mainland into their twisted experiments.
The baby Tensen and Rien and Mei taking care of them like a mom and dad looked really cute on the surface...until Rien went off the deep end, grievously wounded Mei to the point where she could barely manage her own body, and now she's facing getting turned into wood.
But speaking of turning into wood...Hoko was never Mei's real father, and he projected onto her the daughter he lost, never caring for her circumtances or what she really wanted. And yet, he truly WAS her father as she was his daughter, and what father wouldn't sacrifice himself for his daughters' life? RIP Hoko, you were a real one.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do...and if having sex with Rien is the best way for Chobe to keep himself alive, master Tao, and get back to Toma...well, who is he to refuse such a proposition? At least Rien is enjoying themselves.
Welcome back Smol!Mei! I'm sorry Gantetsusai never got to have you in waifu mode ride on his shoulder.
Just as this team is...really barely coming together as a team, The Yamada Asaemon and the Iwagakure ninja's show up. Like they didn't have enough on their plate.
This is one of the rare episodes which throws in the really horny stuff but also makes you cry at the end.
But pretty much everything the Tensen do ends in sex somehow lol.
Episode 4: The Main Course
I've seen dozens of people asking for sauce for "research purposes", so it's either perfectly valid or an irl reference.
>Hey, onnatoko
I mean, you know what, he’s got spirit 🏳️🌈
He cut his hair?
Every time a beautiful man cuts his luscious locks, somebody deletes their fanfic from AO3 and another anime series gets dropped from all legal streams. This is so tragic 🥀
Bandit King’s seiyuu is Az from Demon School? I knew Az could be a yandere.
Band King, use Vine Whip.
Aha! A ship I didn’t consider! I’m on board with this ship 🏳️🌈
She is a damn bijin.
I was looking forward to an Achillean scene, but I know it wouldn’t make sense here. But still 🥀
^(It should’ve been me on top of him. I want to sit on his face and smother him.)
…who said that 👀
The music reminds me of Legend of Korea in such a good way.
>But I don’t like being on the bottom.
That is disappointing to hear, but I can still work from that. Topping from the bottom is a thing. We’re flexible in this house 🤸🏾♀️
Ugh, I hate crying, now I have a stress headache, but I can’t stop crying 🤧
Sword King, I will sit on your face to get you to shut the fuck up, oh my gods 😭
>Catmaru
He really is a kitty.
Whoa who is this dude? But he looks eyebaggy, perpetually exhausted, and psychotic, and I like that in a fictional man.
***
The amount of lore in this episode had me freeze. But I hadn’t expected Hoko to perish in *this* episode. You had two daughters, Hoko, that’s all. I hope you can rest in peace 🕊️
Mei has lost so, so much, but I’m so glad she had a father for all those centuries. And she felt loved and warm by her dad 🥹❤️
With all these reveals, I’m very nervous now. I’m curious how Toma (is that little bro’s name?) will react to Bandit King once he’s told what his brother has been up to.
Those are quite typical for hakama. Usually you don't see the thighs because most of the time people wear a long shirt that is tucked in.
Overall, a lot happened in [this episode](https://imgchest.com/p/agyvj2ww9y8)! First of all, we got [an actual bochu jutsu](https://imgchest.com/p/qe4gpexxr4j) between [Choubei](https://imgchest.com/p/ljyq5vz8ny2) and [Rien](https://imgchest.com/p/qb4zmdjw3yj), although I don't know if I should call Choubei lucky or not ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'm happy that [Mei is still alive, though it was sad that her tree father had to sacrifice himself to save her](https://imgchest.com/p/5xy2nd33jyl) – their farewell was very touching.
It was also nice to finally learn something about [the island and the creatures living here](https://imgchest.com/p/a8466pkpo4x). It looks like Gabimaru and the others will have to face [some mad scientist](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/f3492b97be5b.png), Tensen, and [the new forces](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/adfb3fe49d9e.png) that have just landed on the island.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

*EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.*
You know you've made it in life when an immortal gender-bending plant immortal is coming onto you while naked in a female form.
And even if it's for practical reasons, you actually seal the deal.
It was sad to see Groot go. But I guess a parent’s gonna do what they can for their kid no matter the cost. The gang need Mei..
So now we know who made these things and what they’re after. It’s just a matter of getting strong enough to defeat them all and end this madness. Oh, and possibly deal with these new guests…
Gabimaru would refuse on principle as a married man. Sagiri too. I feel like Gantetsusai and Yuzuriha might be game though.
Bro, Yuzuriha seems to swing both ways, given how crafty she is, she'll find a way to convince Sagiri to do it with her.
Glad both this and JJK gets the royalty treatment.
"Don't worry about it, it's plot relevant" ;)
Episode 2 was the appetizer for this episode.
It was the hardest thing he's ever had to do.
That and I think Kimura Ryouhei is killing it.
Another batch of people on the island is extremely exciting. Thinking back to how the first batch of people acted while knowing nothing about what's going on, makes me think that it's going to get even more interesting, now that the second group is not only going to meet tensen, but also a bunch of criminals who will sound crazy. Gabimaru and the others will truly find themselves between a rock and a hard place.
Also we have other Yamada Asaemon showing up who are going to find out that some of their own have died on this island and the rest are a turncoat (Toma) and working with the criminals they are meant to execute and keep in line.
It's a pretty organic way to do this
Is he Ichigo? Or some other voice in Bleach? I swear I heard him before in an anime like that
"Nah, lets Bochu Jutsu" ;)
Shion: "I beheaded the last woman who attempted to bed me."
Yuzuriha: "Ooh, I love a challenge!"
Now their whole quest will fail because Shion didn't wanna smash 😂😂😂
Tough life for Chobei
Mei is small again and healed... shame it had to come with the cost of tree dad, albeit willingly, giving his life.
And as if the situation wasn't bad enough here is the arrival of more executioners who surely have good intentions...
Audience mourning Hoko...Gantetsusai mourning the loss of waifu Mei.

[Damn, Gabimaru!](https://i.imgur.com/7cuJQa7.jpeg) Dude just recovered from amnesia, and now he's asking everyone to jump him so he can warm up. [Watching Gabimaru fighting with his eyes closed](https://i.imgur.com/MehJ7bZ.jpeg) and just by purely sensing their tao was pretty awesome. He pretty much already [figured out a new way to fight the Tensen.](https://i.imgur.com/sd4oqgf.jpeg) just from that fight.
[I always love it how anime characters cut their hair perfectly](https://i.imgur.com/M3tchyD.jpeg) using a blade. [Touma even got the little braid](https://i.imgur.com/mDwctaG.jpeg) on the side with his new haircut.
Not gonna lie, for a second there, [I thought Chobei had won](https://i.imgur.com/2SUSusA.jpeg) against Rien, but I guess [it was never going to be that easy.](https://i.imgur.com/N5u0P1H.jpeg) He's lucky that he fascinated Rien enough that they decided to take him back to the castle and inspect him rather than kill him.
I know there was plenty of important exposition here, but the fact that [Chobei got all of that while he's about to perform bochu jutsu with Rien](https://i.imgur.com/z6rAvvn.jpeg) was pretty funny. In all seriousness tho, [the dude made the right choice here.](https://i.imgur.com/9XE4iy3.jpeg) By allying with the Tensen, he could also save Touma from being turned into tan. He got to have sex **and** save his brother, that's a pretty good deal. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I can't believe we transitioned from horny to sad with [Hoko sacrificing himself to save Mei.](https://i.imgur.com/3VyKJQB.jpeg) Not gonna lie, I genuinely teared up [when she said goodbye to him in Chinese.](https://i.imgur.com/MlGuFTL.jpeg) T_T
Admittedly he's a samurai trained in cutting heads so I guess being able to perfectly cut his hair isn't totally out of the realm of possibility lol.
Chobei didn't win the combat fight but one could argue he won in the sense of getting to bed Rien and be on top during said sex session. Why do the Tensen's female forms have to be so impossibly hot!?
Hoko wasn't Mei's bio dad but he was the dad that stepped up when it mattered and saved her, and that was enough.
- [Tamiya is still calling him that?](https://i.imgur.com/p8fFD3v.png) [](#kukuku)
- [Sasuga, Gabimaru.](https://i.imgur.com/McMUzJh.png)
- [Ooh, pretty cool visualization of Gabimaru sensing things with tao!](https://i.imgur.com/CTL8lPO.png) [](#neat)
- [Now *that* is an interesting way for Gabimaru to fight.](https://i.imgur.com/1o3Yckd.png) [](#harukathink)
- [Toma cut his hair…](https://i.imgur.com/faMj5Yp.png) [](#frustration)
- [Oh damn…](https://i.imgur.com/n6fRmuA.png)
- [That does not sound good…](https://i.imgur.com/44PmJyd.png)
- [So the Tensen *are* creating an Elixir of Immortality.](https://i.imgur.com/vHi4Zay.png) [](#csikon)
- [Interesting that Mei and Rien were specifically depicted as adults in this flashback when the other Tensen aren’t.](https://i.imgur.com/kkzg3zX.png) [](#harukathonk) – [Oh I guess it’s because Rien and Mei were first.](https://i.imgur.com/R8x0bC9.png)
- [Oh boy…](https://i.imgur.com/4arZf6k.png)
- [Mei’s arm turned into a tree…](https://i.imgur.com/NSx8843.png) [](#spooked)
- [Aw…](https://i.imgur.com/2mTEjGX.png) [](#makicry)
- [Okay yeah this made me cry a little.](https://i.imgur.com/C6tv8bK.png) [](#elsieqq)
- [LMAO, this is an even funnier nickname than Chibi/Shortymaru.](https://i.imgur.com/Rl0aNp5.png) [](#laughter)
- [And so the other Asaemon + Iwagakure ninjas are here…](https://i.imgur.com/d7vyrU7.png) [](#popcorn2)
Hearing Nekomaru gave me Danganronpa 2 flashbacks xD
Also show's quality isn't dropping at all, im gonna stop doubting mappa treatment
Gantetsusai continues to be the dialogue superstar, what with his nicknames for Gabimaru and his distress about Waifu Mei going away.
Poor Fuchi is too sad to go full Mengele :(
The show continues to do a good job of surprising me. We got some decent action with Gabimaru "hey everyone I feel rusty why don't you all try to attack me at once", we got some heart-touching scenes as Mei's father sacrifices himself for her (Although really...it's not much of a sacrifice if you are reduced to a disembodied head that is going to lose sapience and become a tree shortly), and then "WHEN IN ROME" as Chobe makes the ultimate "sacrifice" by agreeing to hot Tensen sex, who are even considerate enough to let him be on top. Although thinking of your brother as you bang a hot plant person is..uh..definitely a choice
Speaking of Tensen, we got an explanation of the islands origin and a possible ultimate big bad (assuming he is still alive and Rien isn't just running the show). And even a big villain plot which seems to involve turning all of Japan into another bigger version of this island.
Lmao at Blade Dragon dude "promoting" his nickname for Gabimaru to Nekomaru from Chibimaru
But on a serious note this episode was great we got some huge reveals here and probably the thing I like the most about the series is the pacing you actually feel the urgency of the situation and no dragging or wasting time on random subplots or forced drama.
Chobei is really an interesting use case even the tensen especially Rien find him and his body/tao quite interesting and he actually sticks to his mantra of adapt consume playing into the situation and doing what it takes to survive.
Find out about the former emperor and how the tensen are and this island was great.
Also Gabaimaru figuring out a way to redirect tao vs the group realizing that you cant defeat someone that has 1000 years on you advantage on a power system and a body made for it the best way is to use their strength against them.
Now I like the goal of the tensen being to make the actual elixir of immortality but wanting to use everyone from the mainland.
Also the end credit scene was funny Gantetsusai is great lol but we also have Shugen and the others showing up on the island.
I have a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kb2BVr4VEE) review if anyone is interested. Thank You.
The 2nd wave of human explorers seem a lot stronger than the first wave... I suppose that it makes sense to send a scouting team full of expendable people before you commit your heavy hitters. Each ninja is probably on par with Gabimaru and Yuzuriha. I recall that in the last season that Gabimaru's leader is rumored to be someone who went to the island and returned with great power. It will be interesting if he shows up.
I'm gonna miss Groot. Him and Mei as a little family was probably the only nice thing on this island of horrors.
The first team might have had a lower average but contained plenty of heavy hitters already
Father and Daughter final moments together 😭
Like it took a team of his allies and the element of surprise just to capture him.
He called her "[bouya](https://jisho.org/search/%E5%9D%8A%E3%82%84)", so... nope :p
I do like that Shion was the only one able to block Gabimaru's tao attack, if I'm remembering correctly him being blind actually helps him deal with tao, right?
There really is no other way than performing bochu jutsu for Choubei, I do really appreciate how much he thinks about what he can do best to keep Touma safe. But now even Touma is putting himself out there to get stronger to protect Choubei, I still think the two are going to have a tragic ending with how much Choubei is messing with his own body, but I really like seeing this kind brotherly love which I don't think you see as often. I like how Touma braided his hair like Choubei.
Houko's death scene went quicker than I expected, just as I was welling up Mei takes his tao lol. But her saying goodbye in their language was a really sweet touch.
Gantetsusai at the post-credit scene was hilarious, I really enjoy how honest the guy is. And I like how he went from Chibimaru to Nekomaru lol.
The lore-drop was kinda hot today, ngl. Chobei had to decide whether to go along with Rien’s ‘research’ or die. You don't really get that choice often.
And then we get the tearjerker with Hoko sacrificing himself for Mei. Hoko thought he forcefully made her his daughter but Mei did feel like a family with him. This along with the [OST](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shs5jtNoEYQ) that played hit right in the feels. Still waiting for the international release. Hopefully, they do it after S2 is over.
I forget the term but something of Mei's was mentioned being 'destroyed' and that was why using too much tao started making her turn into a tree lady. I'm curious if sexy time or something else would let her heal that.
And I still wonder how arrival of 4 new executives and shinobi corps will change the dynamic here.
(I mean... if it doesn't kill you... or so they say, I think)
Good man.
Interestingly the origin of the island seems to be a sort of chinese mystic versio. of Doctor Moreau, using tao instead of "science" for his experiments. I think we got the high level version of this already in the first season, from the tree person if I recall correctly?
But it turns out the tensen (or the hermit who perhaps still rules over them) want to take their operation back to the mainland and turn everyone into the elixir or into the creatures.
And we learn that Mei was actually one of a pair of the original tensen. Sadly we lose Mr Tree as he sacrifices himself to heal Mei.
Despite a few action scenes this was mostly expositionary episode to reveal the deeper background of the island and its rulers to us. And of course the final revelation shows us another wave of ninja a d samurai has landed. Hopefully they prove to be interesting characters, not merely faceless enemies for our protgonists to cut a swathe through (can you tell I'm not super excited by this development? Prove me wrong, show!)
