I'll take the downvotes. I would have preferred to see the very beginning of the franchise get a remake. I'm curious to see why everyone loves the story so much, but not curious enough to watch an anime released in 1986.
It's neat that they remade a more recent arc though. I might not watch it (since it's so far into the story at that point).

Why does the year released matter? Awful reason to skip one of the most influential anime
abandoned_idol2026-01-25 17:16
It's been 40 years, give me a break.
brickspunch2026-01-25 17:25
it still holds up perfectly well
abandoned_idol2026-01-25 17:29
So you never want there to be a more recent remake of Dragonball? Or would you appreciate it if they made a remake?
brickspunch2026-01-25 17:34
it is wholly unnecessary
abandoned_idol2026-01-25 17:37
At this point, you're just arbitrarily fixated on an old anime.
I look forward to the day that Dragonball gets a new remake, I enjoyed watching the "Daima" anime.

I watched it less than five years ago. Holds up fine.

Nothing is getting remade relax, its just a remaster where they improve on the already present visuals and remove filler:
This ENHANCED edition introduces a large volume of newly added and redrawn cuts, as well as a reconstructed narrative. With cutting-edge visual expression, the series delivers even more immersive battle scenes and a more faithful representation of the original manga—bringing an ENHANCED edition to life like never before.

It's a Gundam meme but it fits [https://www.reddit.com/r/Gundam/comments/1oq4aiv/it\_is\_damn\_good/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gundam/comments/1oq4aiv/it_is_damn_good/)

This made me a bit emotional haha. I watched DBZ during its first US run back in '97ish. I was in 7th grade, and me and the friends would rush home to watch the latest episode, then we'd play Bond on the N64. I didn't even realize what I was watching was Japanese at the time. Then a few years later I saw Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the rest is history.

Saw that Toei’s sound designer retired so there could be a possibility of change
