Darker anime with good story/concept

I just watched future diaries, Even though the story was all over the place at certain points and downright didn’t make a lot of sense, I loved the concept. I wanted to see something like that with a unique story with stakes. I that’s really it, it doesn’t have to be like future diaries just something unique and unexpected. Just whatever anime you think would be best, simply an interesting and good watch. Although, I don’t mind at all if it’s not a dark anime but I thought that it would make it more tense. Ty! ( I would prefer If it was completed but if it ain’t that’s fine)

Ergo Proxy, Psycho Pass, Berserk (1997 or the Golden Age Trilogy movies), and Ghost in The Shell are all really good dark anime if you're looking to get into it, although for the good good stuff I always recommend just going to manga. Gantz, Berserk, Boy's Abyss, Pun Pun, Tokyo Ghoul, Sundome (super duper warning on that one), are all really good dark seinens to get your toes in the genre as well.

I enjoyed Future Diaries, and for something dark give Shinsekai Yori [From the New World] a go. The twist is amazing.

Deadman Wonderland would be my personal recommendation for something dark and unique with stakes. It has its own issues like Future Diary but I also found it an enjoyable watch. Biggest issue being there's only a single season that doesn't adapt the full manga.

Oh man, this. "Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail" is SUPER dark, and an AMAZING storyline.

"Kite" and "Mezzo Forte", both by Yasuomi Umetsu. WARNING: Very \*VERY\* adult, but amazing animation and fantastic storylines.

"Black Lagoon" is about as dark as action anime gets in terms of story, but it's very engaging with great characters. The OVA "Roberta's Blood Trail" is one of the most amazing OVAs I've ever seen. Amazing in that there are really no good guys, everyone is just various levels of bad guy, including the protag.

"Puella Magi Madoka Magica" is a must-watch for any anime fan. The entire anime world was different after it aired, it was \*that\* good and \*that\* game-changing.

Hellsing Ultimate is probably the first one I would recommend. For the horror genre. Finite its a bit different then Hellsing. Ultimate is based fully off Manga. Hellsing outpaced Manga about halfway in and had to do its own thing after that.
