Reviving Yuri!!! On ice

Hey guys, I recently stumbled upon Yuri!!! On Ice, and long story short, I liked it. But recently I discovered that the movie and S2 was canceled, therefore I send Ufotable about this wandering if they could pick up Yuri!!! On Ice. Maybe, we could all send emails about this to Ufotable to revive this great anime since the fandom is quite literally YEARNING for this.... All we can do is hope and wait until Ufotable sees this, so send all the Yuri!!! on Ice emails to Ufotable !!!!!

It's never happening, cancellation was likely because of the inability for everyone involved to come to a financial agreement.

Well, we could at least try no ?

FormalConfidence40042026-01-26 12:00

I know that it seems hopeless, but if we (positively) push them enough a miracle could happen :)

Friendly reminder, because this is a recurring theme in the community apparently, not to bully the creators of your favorite content. I remember the Horimiya subreddit had a dude spam posting religiously to get the original webtoon creator HERO trying to get the series continued. Posting almost daily for awhile asking people to spam twitter and other socials.

Don't be that person lol. As stated by other users, there's a reason it hasn't been further adapted. Also, you're asking people to contact a studio that had nothing to do with the original adaptation, and holds no rights to the content. In what world does this ever work?

FormalConfidence40042026-01-26 12:19

I know what you're thinking but honestly, I think Ufotable can adapt it really well and maybe shift the production from Mappa to Ufotable. OH GOD, I'M DEFINITELY NOT ENCOURAGING YOU GUYS TO SPAM.... That would definitely ruin it for everyone. You have a really fair point Tho -- any continuation would depend on right holders and licensing. fan messages wouldn't bypass that BUT I'm just showing there's still demand for the IP if talks ever happen. It's less about expecting a studio to magically pick it up and more about showing that the franchise still has a respectable audience and commercial potential, which would be one of the (possible) many factors in future negotiations.

ALSO, I'm really sorry if I sound offended or disrespectful, English is not my 1st language.

Both of these lines are advocating for spam.

Aside from that, UFOTable seems to be focused on Demon Slayer and the few works they have in the pipeline. They have no reason to pick up another IP right now when they're currently responsible for some of the highest grossing titles in recent history. MAPA isn't going to do anything with it either, at least not with Chainsaw Man and JJK being so prominent. I just don't think that the popularity is there to justify them making more. Not to say that series wasn't popular over all (Crunchy has it in their top 25 of the 2010's and was second top selling anime of 2017), but the demand for new material just isn't there to justify them creating a brand new story. There's also no source material to advertise and it took 7 years between the movie announcement and MAPPA's cancellation announcement. I just don't see it being a realistic possibility in the near future.

syknetz, you said that S2 and the movie is never happening because everybody disagreed, no? Well, what you're doing is disagreeing with me right now, hence spreading discouragement and withering the hope that the fans have left which is exactly must have happened behind the curtains during the production of Yuri!!! on Ice. I'm not saying that you want to purposefully do that, I'm saying that if we want to revive this anime we must all collectively push Ufotable to the right direction with hope and love AND unity :0 :)

\*Sorry for the yap fest, I'm a complete yapper.

UFOTable has nothing to do with Yuri on Ice. Also would be pointless trying to create a petition.
