Animes I've Watched So Far
So just thought I'd share the animes I watched in my first year of watching anime, and give some short personal opinions on what I thought of them for fun. Of course it's all my opinions.
Bocchi the Rock.
First anime, absolutely dope, I wanted to learn guitar after watching it. :D Music slaps, animation is great, and the humor was actually hilarious. I NEED S2
Spy x Family.
Really good, and its manga counterpart was the first manga I bought. Love the animation, the characters are great, only WHY does Frankie get so little screen time. D: Still awesome anime, love it, and LOVING S3!
takt.op Destiny.
Okay so this wasn't actually "bad" really, in fact it has a great score, great animation, and did seem to try to make a unique story, but ultimately it lacked believable character development, which makes sense when it sadly was made mainly to promote a video game, which flopped anyways. Still enjoyed watching it, but not amazing or anything.
Demon Slayer.
I mean not much to say, everyone knows it, lots of people love it. The score, animation, and characters are all great in my opinion, yeah the story isn't complex or anything, but how can I resist watching, "a boy with asthma fighting Michael Jackson"? :D
My Dress Up Darling.
Also super good, watching S2 now. Loving it so far, and loved S1. Love our boy Gojo being way too innocent.
Demon Lord, Retry.
Just pretty bad. Okay like S1 was alright, not great but it was alright. Nothing out of the ordinary, pretty generic, etc., but it was okay if you didn't care too much and just watched. But S2 was just terrible, I never even finished it. Just felt so generic by that point, the story wasn't interesting, they tried to "develop" the characters but failed pretty miserably IMO. Don't recommend.
The World God Only Knows.
Absolutely loved watching this. The animation, music, characters were all just fun to watch, there was good humor, and the story was even pretty cool even if a little on the nose. Only thing is I thought S2 felt kind of slow, while S3 felt rushed. Like I got a bit bored through S2, while S3 could have had a couple more episodes even.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.
"It was perfect. Perfect. Everything!" No seriously I absolutely love this series, have NOT watched the new season yet though; just finished the movies. But yeah the anime was so good I have nothing to complain about. Now the first movie was also amazing, really enjoyed it. Second 2 movies were kind of boring though I have to say. Felt like there was a lot more potential for them.
Solo Leveling.
Great for "in-the-moment", while you're watching that. After that, it's nothing super special. The animation and score are great, but the story is even more bare-bones then Demon Slayer, and the character development... is virtually non-existent. Loved watching it, but completely forgot about it afterwards, and it's only on this list because I looked through my CR history.
Attack on Titan.
Note I just finished S2, so I haven't "watched" this series yet, but thought it's worth including still. So far, S1 and 2 were a blast to watch. They really don't go easy on anything, just full-on with everything. Does a great job with the animation, tons of fight scenes, but knows how to develop characters, and not just focus on animation only, like Solo Leveling or even Demon Slayer does.
Takopi's Original Sin.
I really enjoyed this personally, as I thought it tackled the themes it wanted to, in a really well-rounded, developed way, and didn't drag anything out either. Felt "to-the-point", while still having all the necessary development of characters etc. Plus the animation style was super unique and really cool to watch.
Angel Beats.
Just finished this anime. It was peak. It had amazing music, animation, very good voice acting, a well-written story/plot, and leaves the perfect amount of "room for interpretation" I think, while still leaving you with a solid, clarified ending. Highly recommend.
Your Lie In April.
I mean yeah this was one of the first animes I watched, though many, many of you have probably seen the show, I don't wanna elaborate too much and risk spoilers or anything, but it was extremely well-done, and you could really see passion was put into the show like Attack on Titan and Angel Beats.
...and I think that wraps it up! Again I don't know if this was a "good" first year of anime, or if I should've watched others, most notably One Piece of course, but I'll get around to it sooner or later. Feel free to leave any anime suggestions as well, always want to see more, especially some of the older "classics" that may not be on my radar.

If you want to dip your toes into some classics I'd recommend Anne of Green Gables and Cardcaptor Sakura.
i think deathnote is one of those classics that is often recommended to newer fans
one punch man has a very strong first season
some shows i really like:
* fate zero
* madoka magicka
* samurai champloo
* bakemonogatari
* monster (if you like a slow burn)
* frieren
* psycho pass
* mushishi
some anime im not a big fan of but that are classics:
* steins gate
* fullmetal alchemist
* hyouka
* rezero
* great teacher onizuka
* aria the animation
* code geass
* trigun
* konosuba
* toradora
* ping pong the animation
* mob psycho
Quite a few of shows you watched were some of my favorites too! And I have a few recs related to them
Since you loved the musical aspects of **Bocchi the Rock** I would recommend **Girls Band Cry** as a more drama focused music show while if you loved Bocchi's character I would recommend **Silent Witch.** S2 of BTR has been confirmed by CloverWorks but no specific date yet. Besides Frieren this is my 2nd favorite show of the decade.
Since you loved how **Spy x Family** blends together its comedy and action seamlessly to reinforce each other then I would recommend **Lycoris Recoil** which does something similar with its slice of life and action and the unexpected chemistry between their leads I would say is just as good as between Loid and Yor. Every season of Spy x Family has just gotten better and better to me, and its underlying themes of questioning state propaganda are honestly so important in our world right now.
Lastly, if you loved **My Dress-Up Darling** and S2 elevated it to one of my favorite romances because of not only Marin and Gojo's lovely chemistry but also its themes of not being ashamed for what you love then I would recommend from this season **You And I Are Polar Opposites.** The MC reminds me so much of if Dress-Up was told from Marin's POV.
Anyways it's great to see a new fan and I love that you're trying out so many different genres!
"Samurai champloo" has some of my favorite action sequences in anime and also has a really fun cast of characters, and the filler doesn't feel like filler, there was only one that i could say i disliked other than that i loved everything about the show
"Assassination Classroom" is another one of my favorites, I don't really have anything bad to say about it, fun characters, great development, satisfying ending, there's nothing for me to complain about
"The danger's in my heart" but you have to give it a chance, it starts out pretty cringe, but it gets better trust me, i would've dropped it if my friend hadn't told me to keep going
"Buddy daddies" is a really really underrated show i never see anyone talk about, i won't say too much about it but it reminds me alot of spy x family, and the ending makes me cry every time, i won't say whether it's happy or sad tears :\]
"Lovely Complex" is another completed rom-com i really like, easily my favorite leading female character in a rom-com, there isn't really anything else to say about it, just a really good rom-com, it's ending song makes me cry like a lil btch
"Dan da dan" literally has everything, it's super funny, the action is top notch, the comedy is really funny, the characters are varied and likable, the romance is done better here than in a lot of series that focus on romance, it has some creepy moments that genuinely gave me chills
I hope this helps \^\^
- Buddy Daddies - action/comedy with found family themes, definitely check this out since you enjoyed SpyFam
- Sword Art Online - action/sci-fi in a high-stakes virtual world setting
- Astra Lost In Space - sci-fi/adventure with a great mystery and plot twists
- Oshi no Ko - drama about characters working in the entertainment industry combined with a murder mystery
Cowboy Bebop
Fullmetal Alchemist
Code Geass
Samurai Champloo
