What do you dislike about your favorite anime?
I love Hajime no Ippo, but dislike the sexual abuse (or whtvr you wanna call it), whether you wanna argue that it's realism and not just dumb comedy. I think it's overplayed, but I could be wrong. It's just a lot considering all the other schadenfreude.
One Piece - many will say they hate the filler, which I on first watch skipped, but now quite enjoy so far.
What I can't stand is having to see someone beat on Usopp and Zoro. So. Many. Times.
Hunter x Hunter - when the vibes change to the most dark and messed up stuff you've ever witnessed. Where's my wonderful story that inspires me :/ oh well I should rewatch now that it's been a while.
Cromartie Highschool - when they say "read the manga" lol. I would have preferred more anime but okay. I know, sorry, I just can't focus on reading very often in that form.

The Fate series watch order is in the gutter because of Fate/Stay Night's anime adaptations. I love seeing different creative visions, but for Fate/stay Night, with all 3 routes telling one overarching thematic story, you lose that by having the three routes be adapted by 3 different directors with 3 different and distinct visions for what the series ought to be and feel like. Doesn't help that each adaptation is flawed in their own way making Fate/Zero basically the only "good" starting point now despite being the prequel made after and spoils the sequel, but I digress.
I wish Vivy had more episodes... I just love the series so much.
Worst of ever seen in the series and they are BAD for that.
Vandread: Dita can be insufferable and is the only one of the four protagonists who doesn't get a meaningful character arc.
Full Metal Panic: Chidori tends to make situations worse and hits Sousuke with a fan too much
A Certain Magical Index/Railgun/Accelerator: The characters are too young! What city employs 12 year olds to serve as a junior police force?!
I guess its better than the franchise beeing officially "over" but still..
For an actual complaint about my second favourite Kill la Kill, the first half is stronger than the second and the abandonment of the more episodic format was unfortunate. I wish there had been more episodes like that. Also Inumuta is underdeveloped compared to the rest of the elite four.
Fate/Zero - It's not a problem exclusive to F/Z but a lot of Fate requires knowledge and understanding outside of the anime to fully grasp everything.
Attack on Titan - I don't think the ending was as bad as some have said but I also don't think it matches the quality of the rest of the series.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Probably the most 'rounded' anime series I've seen in regards to the whole package (story, production and characters) but I don't think it's a flat out 10 in any of them. It falls short of the highs of other anime but it stays consistently very good.
Re:Zero - Second season production issues.
I'm also not a fan of a gatcha spinoff (and associated anime) existing. I feel that turning it into a franchise cheapens it as a whole.
Still, the mangaka coulda done fine without and eliminated his biggest criticism.
2003 had some sexy faces.
Shoshimin: Uuuh. Idk tbh.
Rascal Does Not Dream: Not enough Kunimi.
Steins;Gate: I am sceptical that Steins;Gate benefits from being attached to the broader Science Adventure series, but I haven't delved that deep into other VNs yet. I might be partial there as Chaos;Head doesn't seem like my cup of tea.
Bocchi the Rock: Also donno.
Gundam 00: With the exception of G-Witch, I think romance is always the weakest part in Gundam, and that's true here too. I like Feldt, but I wish the show did more to show her develop as a character and grow closer to Setsuna.
Natsume Yuujincho - The fact that it's releasing so slowly.
Hikaru no Go - The ending isn't satisfactory enough.
No Doubt in Us - The fact that it ended.
Clannad After Story - Clannad prequel isn't as good as After Story, and the ending of After Story is quite controversial, but I like it.
It's an overall great adaptation, but not as good as it should be.
Its tone is too silly compared to the LN. in certain moments where it shouldn't be. It's not as serious when it should be.
Kazuma killing himself ruins his character arc. The characters are animated acting like clowns, dancing around, jumping or doing exaggerated, weird body movements for no reason at all.
But then it feels like the writers personal mission to bend the story around reasons why it is okay to have sex with children. It doesn't actually show adults banging kids. But the writer is bending over backwards to come up with excuses why it would be ok. This girl only looks 14. Since she is actually 800 (or whatever) years old and she is horny and consenting, it would be ok. Or the 13 year old girl wanting to marry the ambassador. In her culture it is normal to marry 13 year old's (gross) and if you don't marry her then she will be murdered.
None of this is needed! You could tell the exact same story and just make these characters adults and look like the adults they are and nothing is missed.
The story spends so much time teaching us to value the process. Practices, losses, small adjustments, emotional growth. Then it skips the stretch where all of that work should collide with pressure and expectation. We watch Karasuno climb back up, then we don’t get to see what happens once they’re no longer the scrappy underdogs.
I wanted the messy seasons. The leadership handoffs after the third years leave. The weight of being a known team. The grind where talent stops being enough and maturity matters more.
College and pro volleyball works as an ending, but it feels like skipping the final exam after sitting through the entire course. I love where everyone ends up. I hate that we didn’t walk the last stretch with them.
The dislike: CG in season 1 alone
Recommending it is hard because the barrier to entry is steep with s1 being abysmal looking.
