How to surround myself with online anime discussions?
I have been getting back into anime as of late. But even as I am getting back into anime, I feel like I am watching anime in a void, without any engagement or discussions about anime with anyone else.
I have tried looking for anime youtubers, but all of them either only have content on one specific genre (usually battle shounen) or post content very infrequently (once a month or even less than that).
Meanwhile r/anime seems to only have discussions regarding current seasonal anime (I only binge watch anime, so these discussions are useless for me).
I want to engage in and surround myself with online anime discourse.
However, since I believe that the greatest strength of anime is its variety, I want the discourse to be:
* Not restricted to a specific genre or time period.
* If I am to watch content, it should not be infrequent.
With these criteria in mind, where should I look for? Are there specific subreddits or other kind of social media for what I want? Or should I try to go look somewhere else?

Essentially you make a low effort post mentioning your interests and that you’re looking for people to bond with over specific animes. Keep it short like dot points. If you do one post per day of just talking out loud (meaning a text post, you don’t actually have to share your voice) you will eventually find your people and content creators.
Posting your opinions regularly will help people get familiar with you and you can get familiar with them when they comment
You can try searches like ‘anime opinions’ as a start. Or just watch anime edits and art. We get a lot of animatics and animation memes there.
There is a lot of low quality content and it might take a little while to syphon through it but once TikTok catches your drift, you’re good to go.
Edit: How this relates to "online" anime discussions... Every club has a Facebook group or a discord or something like that.
I think there’s some fun to find for niche topics. For example the wholesome yuri sub is very funny, and almost everyone seems to be having a good time. There could be some niche you might find where people are always making fresh discussions.
Because subreddits and especially discords do tend to turn into echochambers and beacuse of constant flow of new people discussion reliably circles around major topics.
It has the same format and space shared in the database with manga, light novels, some regular/traditional Japanese novels, and Chinese and Korean anime (donghua and aeni) and comics (manhua and manhwa).
The only caveat is that most discussions won't be current, with probably 99% of posts from a time at or very close to when the anime originally aired or close to when MAL was founded and it had a page established (for older series from the early 2000s, 90s, 80s, 70s, etc.)
But even non-current series will have new posts randomly written and contributed by anyone at any given time. It could be a series from 2007 or 1978 and have someone writing a new post and sharing their thoughts pertaining to it this morning because they're watching it for the first time or rewatching it or just desire to do so now or whatever.
So it's kind of vast and chaotic, yet simultaneously organized when you know what to expect. I don't think it's difficult to navigate at all if you're familiar with traditional internet forums.
There's also the [weekly non-airing thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qmrxiv/what_have_you_watched_this_past_week_that_is_not/) that's been going for years.
A lot of people do that AFAIK, watching ahead then discussing the specific episode the rewatch is at.

Well, if you want to engage and discuss, you kinda need to watch and discuss the same stuff everyone else is watching; It's just like anything else, if you play a videogame from 1990 or watch a movie from 1940, the # of people who do these things will be quite small, so you can't expect much discussion.
If you just want to express your thoughts, you can do that here in a 'review' thread or something, but YMMV regarding how many people participate in the thread. If it's a somewhat 'big' anime, there will be people for sure though. Just not if it's something obscure from the 70s.
Or there's the "What have you watched recently" thread, but it's mostly just people posting their show and no one discussing.
