My Thoughts on Let This Grieving Soul Retire
Another day, another boring, generic, overly formulaic fantasy anime. What makes it even worse is that it got a sequel. Well technically it's just the second part of season 1, but still, they came out a year apart. This post is just about the first part. Design for the MC that is so unrealistically generic that it makes my eyes want to bleed every time I look at it? Check. MC without any personality so the people this was made for can project themselves onto him? Check. Admittingly attractive and even sometimes unique designs for the various waifu to keep people who want more from their fantasy anime to keep watching and make younger viewers hit puberty as quickly as possible? Check. The various waifu having more personality than the MC, but not TREMENDOUSLY more personality than him? Check. Literally every other character having the personalities of wet plywood? Check. Sub par animation at best? Check. Countless fights that I don't care about? Check. Villains that are cartoonishly evil with zero redeeming qualities? Check. The only somewhat interesting idea is it seems like they were trying to do the Overlord thing where the MC isn't that much smarter than the average person but everyone who follows him sees him a sa genius because all their plans always succeed, this is just a failed attempt at copying that concept. The only character that came close to being entertaining, in my opinion, was Tino Shade, who's silly, almost bumbling nature was kind of endearing to me, being pretty weak relatively speaking and always failling but always trying and her loyalty for the MC never wavering, but one character can not save an entire show.

Tbh I found it one of the better and funnier animes the last years, reminds me of konosuba level of laughs.
Weak or strong is irrelevant. The MC is basically a peasant level of physical strength and succeeds by shear luck or coincidence which is the joke of the show...
Fortunately, it knows exactly what it is. Self awareness!
Lots of missing the point with this show and this review.
(hint: it's a comedy, not a power fantasy)
Show is a 7.5/10 for me. Review is a 5/10.
