Please tell me that Hell's Paradise gets better

I watched season 1 when it first released and was intrigued. But as time went on, the pacing got more and more agonizing. *It was flashback central every single episode for almost the entire duration of the season.* I mean I get character introductions but holy shit! And it was so frustrating because most of the characters are *so* tropey but the worldbuilding and aesthetics make up for it so I don't mind it as much except I'm forced to slog through the trenches of the most boring and predictable backstories that you can imagine. The character dynamics of the main group is OK but we only get snippets before getting plunged into *yet another* flashback of someone else.

I think I had to finally drop it right at episode 11 even though we were finally getting into interesting stuff in the present because I was just so tired.

Season 2 is airing now and based on the poster alone it looks interesting but I just can't subject myself to the same flashback fest as last time.

Does it get better??

I actually was on your very same boat. Until I saw the last episode of season one and there was a very interesting plot twist that made me be very excited for a S2.

First season only has 12 episodes so you’d only need to watch 2 more if you want to check out season 2. I think if you watched 11 episodes and dropped it you probably just don’t like the series but you could give it a try.

I also thought the first season was subpar but this season has been enjoyable. Seems like they're putting more effort in this time

Just drop it, you are clearly not engaged with it and expecting a show to force you into caring at this point is an exercise in masochism.

I think it's an awesome show and I love the characters, so the flashbacks were filled with information I enjoyed learning.

I really liked the first season and season 2 so far has been amazing as well. It will get more intense as the season goes on but i can't really say you'll like it just because of s2 if you didn't like s1 to begin with.
