I need animes rec help please!

Anime recommendations please?

Hello! I am after some anime recommendations (fantasy preferably but others are okay).
I do already have some recs but most are 12 eps and cancelled. I'm hoping to find ongoing, finished or longer animes (50eps + if cancelled).

In terms of what I like:
Fantasy, magic school, powerful MC, guilds, dungeons, magic etc, court politics, high IQ MC, great cast of characters

I dislike:
Ecchi, incest, lots of fan service, anything gross with children, etc. Predominantly sad animes.

I was going to list everything I've watched and whether I liked it or not but that list is a bit long so ill just hope some comments have animes I haven't heard of/watched yet.

However here's a few for examples:

Loved these:
Hitman Reborn!
Black Clover
Fairy Tail
SAO
That time I got reincarnated as a slime

These were good:
Bleach
Hunter x Hunter
Misfit of Demon King Academy
Wistoria
Black Butler

I hated these:
Jobless Reincarnation
Irregular at magic school

Hi Romantic_murder, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

The og or one of the remake since that show got remaked 3 times. Me I am talking the og one since you feel the touch of Tezuka in it. Something the remake lack.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

Frieren.

Grimgar Ashes & Illusions. (My favorite isekai.
Kinda sad)

Delicious in Dungeon.

So I'm a Spider, so What? (Isekai slop. Still entertaining)

Romantic_murder2026-01-28 10:48

I've seen FMAB, Frieren and Delicious in Dungeon, I loved all of them!
The other 2 are on my list but I watch anime too fast so I'm hunting for something longer atm.

Fairy Tail has a lot of fan service though. The sound bite “Wow!” came from there.

Romantic_murder2026-01-28 11:13

I think I didn't mind it as much cause you can gloss over it and not pay attention whereas I've seen some worse ones

Maximilian_Sinigr2026-01-28 12:24

How about diving into Fate series?

Watch JJBA (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). The anime currently has six parts, with the seventh part, Steel Ball Run, releasing later this year. Each part has its own unique story, setting, and crazy final twist that happens in the last 3-5 episodes and It’s 190 episodes so there’s plenty to watch. It’s also the second-highest-rated manga on MAL. I’d recommend watching it and catching up before part 7 airs.

I started watching it in August of last year. I’m currently on part 5 and I’m enjoying it. I’d prioritise watching this if I were you.
