[Short Review] Love Through a Prism
Forgive me if my review is stiff or awkward, as this is the first time I'm doing it. And it goes to show how love this show that it made me write a review!
Synopsis: Love Through a Prism (a.k.a Prism Rondo) is an original net anime that was created by the author of the classic Hana Yori Dango. It is set in 1910s, and follows the story of Lili Ichijoin, a girl from Yokohama, who at the help of Japan's Ministry of Education, was able to study painting at Saint Thomas Academy of Arts, where she met other students, including the eccentric, but top student, Kit Church. This is where her story starts.
Review:
Art: 10/10 Reason: I honestly feel like I've been watching a Studio Ghibli anime with how amazing the art is. The animation is fluid, too, which really shows how alive each character and their interactions are.
• Music: 10/10 Reason: I personally love the show's music as it encompasses and drags you to the story with how alluring the instrumentals are. As I am very biased towards classical music, this is a plus for me. What really pushed this score higher for me is when they played [spoiler] >!Pachelbel's Canon during the ball!< which is one of my favorite classical piece of all time.
Story: 9/10 Reason: Prism Rondo's story is, despite having anime tropes, leans more towards a grounded and realistic approach. Not one personal interaction or event seemed forced, and everything felt natural. Why this did not get a perfect ten is because I just wished they tackled more about certain elements or themes in the story. I personally wish we could've seen more about [spoiler] >!the Golden Sew(?) and the Silver Lily dressed, and I was hoping to see Lili wear one of them at the end of the show again with how much timeskip the show had. Although, I personally have no issue with the timeskips as it felt natural to the flow of the story.!<
Characters: 10/10 Reason: Each and every character felt unique, without one overlapping the other in terms of personality and their roles in the show. Not one cast overshadowed the other when they were present in a scene, or event. Also, Dorothy best girl.
Overall: 9.75/10 Reason: I absolutely love the show. In a few years time, I'd probably watch it again when it feels like I'm forgetting the events of the show. Honestly, I thought I'd be crying during the ending, but saw myself smiling due to how everything was resolved in a beautiful way. I also like how not every single episode is tied to a certain number of minutes in terms of length. Some episodes have 24-28 minutes, 30-37 minutes, while the longest episode I recall has 40 minutes. Because of this, and also because this is not based on any source material, no corners were cut, making each episode feel complete and not lacking of any context.
To end this, I 100% RECOMMEND everyone to watch this!
That is all for my review. Thank you for reading! I appreciate all feedback!
