Guess the author is also a car nut.
Also giving it a moment of thought: I would not be surprised if the Ferdinand family name was inspired by Ferdinand Porsche.
Wouldn't a basic round wall, vertically expandable by magic (like a dome), be better? At least against aerial attacks ... but not tunneling.
The other point I want to address is that magic definitely complicates what defensive fortifications should look like. I do think defensive fortifications would evolve differently in a world of magic compared to what we have in real life. Like you stated, there are mages that can easily control terrain. This reminds me of something I read in a D&D 3.5 combat source book where warfare would look drastically different depending on whether the world is high magic or low magic. In low magic worlds, combat would probably not be too different than what we had in our world during the medieval period. Columns of soldiers clashing into each other. But in a high magic world, it would be vastly different. Probably more similar to modern warfare. For instance, troops in a high magic world would no longer be marching in columns against each other. An AOE spell like fireball would basically just nuke most of the troops clustered together like that. So instead soldiers would rely more on run, cover, and fire tactics.

If she stays behind, I wonder if Panamera will too? The town could always use a waifu haha.
Edit : Also can’t emphasise enough how much I love getting a view (whether a wide aerial shot or through a map) of the town as it gets updated with new additions
Obviously, Panamera and Arte are sticking around but I’m sure some politically-motivated plot is gonna come down on this little village.
Steaks from wood it is!
He already creates swords harder than metal from wood so a steak should not be a problem.
I'm curious to see if the MC is smart enough to use his powers and past knowledge to find a way to better preserve food.
Don't think about it.
Just look at the maid being cute! Or the tits of the new Viscontess as she's undressing! And Arte is a precious little smol bean that we must protecc!
Just don't think about the bullshit magic. It's just bullshit.
Can't wait to see it grow to be the star shaped city that Van said.
They also have established a local merchant rather than having to wait a month for one to visit, so they can purchase food. They can if nothing else sell tools/weapons for food.
They also have a master of creating infastructure out of thin air so establishing farms including fortress sized walls, irrigation system, etc is option. Having the best farms will encourage farmers to move in.
And they’ve got a merchant willing to buy their stuff and sell them stuff as well. I think he’s good especially if his fiancé s father offers help
"Yes, could I have an age-appropriate wife with a similar fate to mine and some adult eye candy on the side for the omniscient beings watching this from another dimension?"
"Excellent choice. When would you like the adult to be undressed?"
"Can we do it by the end of the episode? Extra sparkles."
"Yes sir, right away sir."
Of course. Coming right up
Thanks that so far there's no sign he's romantically interested in her.
In here, even though the princess was intended to be his fiance, being married is not something on his mind yet and he treated her more like important guests/friend.
The ‘American dream” - Viscount Panamera Carrera Cayenne is here and I think that VA Yōko Hikasa is a perfect fit for bringing out her personality 😍
They’ve used CGI sparingly so far but overall it’s was of high quality imo, not that I’m an expert.
We also met our good buds, Bell & Rango, of the future “Bell & Rango Company” who got their store and are ready to spread the good name of Master Van!
OK, I know that's not what you meant, but a spell that forces whatever your opponent wants to say or do to be pushed to the next episode would be funny as fuck, if this show was a comedy.
It almost feels like he can't think ahead sometimes and just waits for someone to ask for something and then he acts all surprised, like with the houses he built for the villagers after his own mansion.
Isn't he also supposed to be from Japan? Only thing i remember him doing that he learned from his past life was the zoning plan so far.. His past knowledge + his magic would be a killer combo if used properly.
His understanding of particle and atomic physics is how he refashioned the wood into an incredibly durable and strong metamaterial, I think.
Good stuff to just turn your mind off a little.
If I had a nickel for every time Hikasa Youko voiced a big tiddy bombshell, I'd be fucking rich right now. This show hasn't really been much for fanservice, so that final scene completely caught me off guard. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The design of Panamera reminds me of Olivier Mira Armstrong (appreciative).
So, that's how he's going to get the manpower to man the defences.
Huh. 1/4 of them taken out in a single salvo.
Oh... That's certainly inconvenient. Can they grab the rest from the other sides of the walls?
Well, those work too.
That's a lot...
So, time to sell the stuff.
Seems he's selling the weapons too.
And so they have a shop here now.
That's big...
A star fort. Sure.
Who?
So, now they know the truth about why he's here.
So, now he's showing them his powers.
Ok...
And so they're going to stay here too.
I was hoping to see the same here with that younger girl and I'm getting it. So I'm happy.
He's doing all this amazing stuff and everyone in this world constantly praises him for it, but it all ends up feeling unearned b/c we don't get to see Van work/grind for his power. Ultimately, it would be more interesting for these characters to see the POTENTIAL in Van and join his team/want to ally with him if he wasn't already so obviously OP that even a blind person could see how strong he is.
It's so convenient to be able to build any building within moments when needed, a merchant's store and inn just like that. I wonder how this fort is going to look once things pick up.
Sudden fanservice from Panamera was unexpected, those assets are huge lol.
It’s cute but aggravatingly slow paced in such moments.
Till and Khamsin running in like Shrek at the wedding screaming, "I object!"
Does this woman even anime? That's still 100% on the table. I bet if he had meatier thighs she wouldn't have thought twice.
Surprising bit of fanservice with the lady knight at the end. At least it was purely for the audience and they didn't feel the need to force Van into the scene for whatever reason.
So they'll be moving from the current square fort to a larger star fort once they get around to it, which might be soon given how quickly the combination of the old butler and Van can construct the walls.
He built a bath house without having water, so a basic one with just ice is feasible.
Arte's precious, so it was sad seeing her state of mind, especially that last line.
For a sentence said so casually, it's absolutely chilling.
What did they do to her???
I hope her backstory gets fleshed out.
The author tries to make it seem like the politics are sooo important and then does this shit. It's sooo inconsistent.
I just wish these types of shows didn't do the emotional moments so heavy-handedly. All of them would be so much better if they let the character emotions and motivations be more subtle so the viewer can interpret what the characters are thinking and feeling. But that probably would alienate the majority of the audience of these shows who need to be explicitly told what a character is thinking and feeling otherwise they have no idea what's going on.
I see that Cygames is mentioned in the end credits. What is their role in this production?
At first I didn't get why Arte was sent to marry someone the king believed to be a lord of a small backwater frontier town but it seems her father thinks of her how Van's father thinks of him because he can't use elemental magic. She seemed to at least crush on Van but it is good that she's just being allowed to stay there in the village. I wonder if Cayenne will continue to live there too since its unclear if she's her personal bodyguard permanently assigned to her or just someone sent on this one mission with her.
