The only thing they do is complain about Ohrun, and they are weaker than the literal children that Ohrun is working with now. Like, why in the world did Luna and Ohrun team up with these two in the first place?
he gave a few minutes of instruction, so now they can help...
The only one supporter meta is going to be shattered by them together in a group.
Also based on the description in the episode he knows the exact stats of the dragon to debuff it.
Which jives with what Selma and her own guildmaster said when learning Orhun had left his party.
And with Orhun's original insistence that his party stay in the Lower floors building up strength before pushing forward. He, and Luna, knew their party was punching well above it's paygrade and needed to slow down.
Basically, their 'fundamentals' are flawed from Orhun's original magic doing too much heavily lifting: they got too strong, too fast. The 90+ floors were leaving them overextended, but the rest of the group was too ~~stupid~~ arrogant to realize this.
TL:DR Orhun was the special sauce of his party of otherwise mediocre chumps. Giving his god-tier buffs to a party that is stronger and overall more competent will result in even better performance.
So Orhun/Selma and the rest of the "Chaperones" will kill the Black Dragon, hopefully *without* clutch assistance from the kids because *that would be stupid.*
This will not only cement Orhun's place as the new Ace Attacker of the Silver Rabbits marque party, but also completely dethrone the Chumps from their position as 'Heroes.' Orhun, with the Rabbits, will have cleaned up the Heroes' mess, despite them being specifically ordered by the guild to clean up after themselves. In the process, they will not only have their reputation ruined but be saddled with the monstrous debt of the mass teleportation.
GG Assclowns.
The framing of this episode was so warped.
I can buy that it took half a day for the Heroes' party to return, talk the Guildmaster into starting the Mass Teleport, then more time charging up ~~mah lazer~~ this grand magic...
But the *dragon!?* That bastard slipped through the 'fickle gate' at the beginning of the day. The party had just arrived in the dungeon. They had fought like one or two mobs... then BAM!
And in the time it took the dragon to teleport to floor 50, the Rabbit's group of newbies covered 15 fucking floors?
Do Fickle Gates normally take several hours to launch? Was the dragon's ass so big it took longer to teleport!?
*sigh*
big group entered early in the day and it was likely they spend the entire day there, as they were not sleeping inside, hours of exploration
oh well anime logic I guess? Hero party was drunk, woke up after launch, and decided to go inside close to diner time? /joke
if the dragon transported immediately then they would have been fucked either way
The show isn't terrible but the writing is dumb.
Disappointing...
She wasted no time prioritizing saving lives, accepting what they needed to do, and realizing they needed Orhun to do it.
If he's really a skilled adventurer, he should know better than tripping a flag like that. Given the timing, I bet that fickle gate was just waiting for literally anyone in the dungeon to say something like that.
The hero party timeline is clearly not happening in parallel with Ohrun's training exercise, unless there is some massive delay on the teleport from Floor 92 to the upper/mid floors (I would typically expect teleports to be instant). As a result the cuts between parties just seem like bad editing.
I feel like there's a good story here, one of the better "kicked from hero party" so far, but it's been a real slog getting this far. I hope the fight lives up to setup (although for all I know next episode could be all dialogue/hero party arguing).
Taking that into account, the scenes with the hero party are plain unnecessary. We know they're heading for the guild, and we know there will be a massive penalty for the force teleport. At most, all you need is to show them arriving and requesting the force teleport, then cut to Ohrun for the rest of the episode. The constant cutaways to them are just plain distracting and really complicate the flow of the episode. They aren't interesting characters and what they're doing isn't interesting or plot-relevant because *we already knew they were doing it at the end of last episode*. It's like the show thinks we're going to be confused when they likely show up at the end of the next episode and are stunned with whatever Ohrun has done, as is par for course with this genre.
But yeah the pacing was weird. It's also not clear when Orhun and the clan arrived in front of the dungeon vs when the hero party left the dungeon.
Like brother, if you have something that makes what you do 50 times better, there is NO COMPARISON between the "Before" and "After".
Honestly, just don't give a number. Just say it's more powerful and keep it at that.
Do you know what would be more humiliating? If he instead team up with the rookie party and won the fight lol. Nah, that would be too far a stretch considering someone important in the guild died to the black dragon.
The Heroes Party still don't want to acknowledge why they're weak.
Orhun carried them like sacks of ish.
Luna and Philly will hopefully leave and find better prospects afterwards because they're the only ones who don't deserve this.
I want to see dark fireballs and peak animation after this build up!
The worst part is that the magician's older sister is also a magician, but she hasn't bothered to explain such basic things to her little sister!
Obviously, the average IQ of this world is... a few degrees lower than ours.
I mean, just look at the Heroes' Party!
On the other hand, they're really dragging out the actual exciting stuff.
if all the exposition had happened 2 episodes ago, it would have been fine. it would have completely fit the flow of the story at the time. the issue I have is that I've gone into 2 episodes in a row expecting for them to fight the dragon, and we still haven't even started. I half believe that next week will be an episode-long flashback just to push the fight back yet another episode.
Makes me so angry.
At least we got 20 minutes of him teaching his students random stuff instead of plot progression
It pissed me off that he values himself as an enchanter so little.
Albert Sensible? He sounds very sensible. He was also one of the top aces of the Night Sky Rabbits and his loss was part of the reason Selma has been so aggressive in trying to recruit Orhun. He actually died protecting others from the Black Dragon. And it seems like his loss had a big impact on Caroline, to where she takes facing monsters directly and staying away from her allies really seriously. She seems like a completely different person.
Eleonora looks cute, but they have no time to dwell on that. For Luna the main priority has to be saving lives before the Black Dragon gets loose and innocent people have to suffer for the Hero Parties' mistake.
No monsters makes Caroline a dull girl! Which is why she immediately rushes at the first Azure Goblin she sees. If she's going to be so aggressive, she needs to be understand how to apply that to being a Defender and adapt her style in a way that still accomplishes what a Defender has to do. And while teaching Caroline that, Orhun also teaches Logan some things about being an Enchanter and Sophia about being a spellcaster. He's surprisingly cut out for teaching, even if he's mostly just applying stuff he learned from adapting to his old party.
Sophia finally lets loose the waterworks and how much she wants Orhun to keep teaching her...and can he ever say no to her? Though Sophia being kind of calculated in knowing her sister always just goes along with whatever she asks. She's a kind of devious little sister, as it turns out.
I can't believe Anneli and Derrick are STILL refusing to take responsibility for this mess or trying to avoid having to clean up after themselves by stopping the Black Dragon. Luna is still the only one with enough sense to face what they've done and recognize that they're going to need Orhun if they want to stop the Black Dragon...because they're the weakest without him.
Nice for the recruits to get to see how well the pros fight together, and Orhun gets to finally REALLY show off, especially in front of Selma!
Of COURSE the Black Dragon arrives right when they've finished and about to go home. Perfect (worst) timing!
Would have lost it though if the teleport spell also did the dragon because the dragon ate someone etc
And heck, another delay? Even though their shocked faces at the end of the episode are kind of realistic, damn, I hate this kind of cliffhanger 😐
Next episode, please!
Now that they're on safe spot, they're back to their self absorbed state of mind.
Not surprised those two are avoiding taking responsibility. It’s bad enough that they insisted on going to a high level dungeon floor unprepared, but now they can’t even own up to their own failures and shortcomings.
Why were the monsters on Floor 40 hiding when KuroDrago hadn't even made it to Floor 50 yet at the time?
Definitely way too much yapping with the kids this episode, slowed the whole thing down kind of painfully only for a cliffhanger at the end.
What a frightening way to end the expedition for them though, I wonder if they'll be teleported out in time.
I hope most of them suffer and receive some comeuppance at some point this season. I want to see them publicly shamed and Orhun publicly praised. fuck the hero’s party.
great episode, although the ending was predictable.
That shouldn't even count as a cheat spell anymore, that's straight up hitting ~ to bring up the console and type "ATK x 100".
Firstly, nothing happens in this episode except for the MC's basic teachings to others.
Secondly, seriously, does everyone have a negative IQ or something? He's explaining something basic, but everyone's been figuring it out like a genius from the start.
The writing is really lazy, instead of creating an interesting and intelligent MC. The authors make all the other characters as stupid and uninteresting as possible.
If you don't like MC, you're incredibly stupid and a nasty caricature. The entire character boils down to messing things up in the MC's life and serving as a foil to make him shine.
If you like MC, you are "normally" stupid but always uninteresting and a nice guy without nuance. These characters are there solely to flatter the MC and worship him like a god. They marvel at his exploits without doing anything themselves.
Seriously, how do you expect me to like characters like these? In five episodes, I didn't find a single good character in the story. And with writing like that, I doubt we'll see an interesting character before the end of the season.
