Give an example or something? But most of the time the out there fashion is to make the character more memorable.

I couldn't tell you much of the plot of Madlax even though I enjoyed it back when it aired but I definitely remember it [having women in gun battles in dresses](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK_gNbJfbL4). A slip dress in that case rather than like a ball gown or anything but still a silly outfit to wear, especially in the jungle.

I laughed when I first saw the dress, but at least the dress having a part makes sense for her to move around more easily, but obviously still easy for it to get latched onto foliage. First time I've ever heard of this anime though.

It's always nice to see someone discover the concept of personal taste, and that what they think is bad isn't what someone else thinks is bad.

Why do people create brand new Reddit accounts for such stupid comments?
Has this always been the case or is it just rage baiting?
AWorthlessDegenerate2026-01-28 20:14
We used 'ta call them accounts "throwaways", but the answer is yes to your second question.
ColaFlavorChupaChup2026-01-28 21:00
Back when we had standards of naming the account "throw-away-1234". I somehow was under the impression Reddit cracked down those. I dunno why I thought that.

I think a lot of it comes down to art style. A lot of mangas and animes follow the Pokemon philosophy where a character's silhouette should be distinct. This makes it easier to get away with having the same face on most characters saving time since actually drawing consistent unique faces is harder the generally consistent silhouettes.
It saves time and money but it also means that you need to vary clothes and hair a lot since that's the only way you can tell most characters apart. Unfortunately it means that most clothes look pretty random. While this can lead to some seriously iconic designs it can also lead to... yeah.

Because school is not a fashion parade.

It depends

Surely you realize the importance of providing examples

It’s no more stupid than a rabbit with gloves or a black mouse with yellow shoes. They’re just unique character designs to make them more distinct and memorable and tons of people think they look cool as shit and have created an industry(artform?) around recreating the looks. Doesn’t mean you personally have to like it of course, but to flatly call it stupid is a little short sighted
