Ikoku nikki starts after a middle schoolers parents die in an accident. It's beautiful and thoughtful, somewhat like violet evergarden. I have laughed most episodes and cried in every one. (I'm easy to make cry) if it doesn't win awards, I'll be shocked.

Darker anime with romance: warning these are quite dark and pretty dysfunctional romances.

Happy Sugar Life: straight out crazy yandere

Mirrai Nikki: Yandere with survival game. I liked it and the premise of the survival game I thought was pretty cool.

Domestic Girlfriend: straight out love triangle dumpster fire. I love it though and the OP is a straight out banger.

The last 2 I don't mind recommending to anyone. Might be your cup of tea. But really id stay away from the first one. I couldn't finish watching the whole thing got tooo dark.
