Hey, I have a friend who used to hate anime that ive gotten to enjoy it, any recommendations that wouldn't put him off?

So far his favorites are most all of miyazakis films, gachiakuta, frieren, and AOT, ive been thinking about getting him to watch Fullmetal alchemist

Hi Fun_Reason1890, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

I would like to say mean things but I know that that's not nice, I will simply leave you with a thumbs down.

Violet Evergarden

Fun_Reason18902026-01-29 03:36

Looked it up, seems cool but short, is it something that we should try to savor or that we could just binge in a day?

Uma-apreciator2026-01-29 03:47

To savor, It is kinda episodic

Fun_Reason18902026-01-29 04:23

Noted

Uma-apreciator2026-01-29 05:03

To savor I mean watch 1 episode per day, each episode look's like a movie

Fun_Reason18902026-01-29 03:38

Best_Surround_39802026-01-29 03:28

Fun_Reason18902026-01-29 03:37

I haven't seen much of his stuff, only grave of the fireflies, but his other stuff also seems cool, ill check it out and show him whatever seems his thing

Best-Special78822026-01-29 03:33

Gosick, Cowboy Bebop, Steins;Gate.

Fun_Reason18902026-01-29 03:40

Haven't heard of gosick but ill check it out, we started but haven't finished cowboy bebop, and ive heard a lot of good stuff about steins;gate, ill see if he wants to watch it

Best-Special78822026-01-29 03:44

Steins Gate is pretty fluffy for the first half and then gets intense the entire second half. It's so good.

Fun_Reason18902026-01-29 03:49

Like, how bad does it get? Would it be good to help introduce harder seinen stuff to him?

Best-Special78822026-01-29 06:06

one suicide, several deaths by gunfire - (it's a time loop, spoiler, so we see the same people die more than once.)

LarneNessit2026-01-29 13:39

It's been a minute but I remember hating gosick. Lil girl super tsudere detective or something that won't leave a tower. Not sure this won't put him off.

DominusLuxic2026-01-29 05:08

Why not go with the classics? Stuff like Summer Wars and The Boy and the Beast? Maybe Sword of the Stranger and Dororo? Kino no Tabi? Mushishi?

SPACRMANonEarth2026-01-29 05:36

I've recently watched Orb on the movements of the earth. I would recommend that to you both, its good.
