Any recs for shows with actual character growth? (e.g. Ippo, Vinland Saga)
Just finished Hajime no Ippo and Death Note, and now I’m obsessed with Vinland Saga.
I’m finding that I really prefer anime with a more mature tone and actual stakes.
The psychological stuff in Death Note and the 'struggle' in Ippo really hooked me.
Looking for recommendations for more shows that are intense, maybe a bit dark, and focus heavily on character growth. I’m tired of the generic stuff, I want something that actually hits hard emotionally. Any suggestions?

I cried like 3 separate episodes
Rainbow
Legend of The Galactic Heroes especially
Maybe Hunter X Hunter; it looks like a typical shonen at the start, but covers quite a few mature and occasionally dark themes.
Also Mob Psycho 100...the main character is a middle schooler, but I felt like the series did a great job examining mature emotional themes in an intelligent way (in addition to being very entertaining).
