You can see anyone's lists on MAL, unless they made it private.
Durinthal2026-01-30 00:29
Maybe it's an issue with the mobile app if that's what they're using, it had a lot of functionality missing compared to the site the last time I checked it.
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-30 01:53
I feel no sympathy for people using apps when perfectly functional mobile friendly websites exist. The digital illiteracy is getting crazy.
CJP12162026-01-30 02:19
Lmao "digital illiteracy"

I'm getting tired of MALs user interface. As I'm aging I don't wanna read fine print, and when I zoom in I have to horizontal scroll to read text!
They aren't the only offenders.
I might switch too. I don't use these sites to keep track for me anyways.

If Android use DailyAL and don't look back
onions_can_be_sweet2026-01-30 01:04
I'm an older guy, been into anime for only about a dozen years now, and I really love it. I don't use a smartphone, only my desktop system. I use MAL as a reference site, I also read reviews there.
It's not like I can't make it work, it's just that it's more work than something like that should need.
ShielderKnight2026-01-30 01:18
Myanimelist Redesign is the name of a browser extension for chrome/Firefox, i haven't used it but it might make it better for the eye or easier to look.
onions_can_be_sweet2026-01-30 04:34
Ok, thanks for that I will check it out.
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-30 01:54
Have you considered just not zooming out?
I_love-my-cousin2026-01-30 03:24
You probably need glasses
onions_can_be_sweet2026-01-30 04:33
I have glasses, and I do need them.
But even with glasses fine print is a lot of work to read.
The text fields that must scroll horizontally when zoomed seem particularly user-hostile. I'm sure it was designed by someone with good eyesight.

For Apple you have Ketsu Dot App but this is manual install not on appstore
For appstore try Kitsune for Myanimelist
For Android you have an App named DailyAL on Github which is of the most popular ones to be in contact with MAL friends, track list and browse the site, nice features, very modern and easy to use
You can also go to F-droid dot org and download fdroid and you can download DailyAL from there, I highly recommend it.
IcyExclusion2026-01-30 03:05
Kitsune has been what I’ve been looking for. Thanks!

AniList is great and I got so tired of all the MAL security breaches.
flatpetey2026-01-30 02:28
I use it. I use the MyAniList app on iOS and am pretty happy overall with everything.
I think it lags in manga listings over MAL and I do miss having MAL lists readily available.
One thing I wish all of these sites would have is much better statistics. Like normalize my scores for me and let me do stuff like map my scores versus the average to see what I actually think is overrated / underrated.
I_love-my-cousin2026-01-30 03:23
Probably not, MAL is way better
_BMS2026-01-30 05:28
I personally like MAL's old-school design more than the modern material design that Anilist uses. I find modern UIs more clunky and annoying to navigate since it's not as information-dense as old UI design is.
I also heavily disagree with how Anilist does not let you export your list, which is something that MAL lets you do natively.
