Trying to remember an anime name

So I was flipping through anime trying to find something and I had THOUGHT it was Eminence in Shadow, but I just finished episode one of Eminence and it's definitely not. In episode one of this anime I briefly saw a few months ago, it was a school setting, and this guy confessed to the local school idol, an icy girl who never accepted a confession. She of course rejected him. However, looking on was our ML and his two friends. The ML had like lost a bet or something, and as punishment his friends made him confess to previously mentioned ice queen. So he goes up and confesses, and ends it with either saying or thinking "just go ahead and reject me so I can get this over with" but instead she accepts his confession. Everyone is shocked and when he asks her why she said yes she gave him this line about how "you were entirely average and not a threat, you obviously were set up for the confession, and I'm sick and tired of losers asking me out so I thought you would be an acceptable partner for the time being."
They were all in uniforms that were vaguely military and I think they were white and blue? I didn't watch past the first ep but I'm almost certain it was fantasy.
I have thought it was Eminence in Shadow for a while now and now that I know it's not I have zero clue what it might be but I kinda wanna give it another go so any help would be great!

sounds good and sounds nothing like eminince

Thymbraeus2026-01-30 00:27

I have no idea why I thought it was lol the main characters do kinda look similar if I remember right, but I think I probably landed on it after Eminence and my brain just tied the previous title to it

Are you sure it's not Eminence? There's [a scene in the 3rd episode](https://youtu.be/REjkqe0iFic) that's almost exactly what you're describing.

Sounds like Hajimete no Gal

Thymbraeus2026-01-30 00:31

Sadly it's not! I've watched that one and read the manga lol the FL was definitely a cold, aloof, emotionless character. also the setting had swords and magic (have edited the post to include that)

NiceVibeShirt2026-01-30 00:31

What you're describing happens in Eminence in Shadow.

It sounded familiar to me too, so I looked it up:

No, that is def Eminence in Shadow, part of the first season after he goes to the dark knight academy, he acts completely average and the confession thing started as a punishment by his two friends but she accepts and they fake going out because she is being bothered by another guy.
