Going in with the expectation that I would drop it after an episode, it's become one of my most enjoyed seasonal shows. One of those series where if you have very modest expectations and are happy to just take what it is serving up as entertainment rather than critiquing it, then it's well enjoyable.
Actually on that topic of critique, it's funny how shows that actually *do* have the substance and quality to stand up to being properly critiqued, such as *Frieren*, are never dissected with a critical eye in discussion threads, where as stuff like Jack-of-all-trades gets the modestly rigorous working over for its editing, character motivations and so forth.
Feels back-to=front to me, like constantly giving the pro team a free pass, but getting stuck hard into the local club team for their shortcomings lol
Anyway, I've enjoyed the teaching arc of Jack-of-all-Trades so far, especially the students-coming-to-appreciate-the-lessons aspect. Whilst it might not necessarily be "fresh" it's also got some neat-ish stuff going on under the hood.

Nah but they're right though. It's not the lack of backgrounds, just a lot of the artwork itself looks cheap and amateurish for an actual publication. Boring lines, flat colours, barely any shadows (and what shadows exist don't really make any sense), no effort spent on the rendering at all.
I resent the "looks AI" comment though, they look nothing like AI. Just quick and cheap human work.

Yeah its actually nice that they keep the anime completely innocent but seemingly dont care how degenerated things get in the doujins. GuP also seems to be one of those IPs new doujins artists go to almost by default. Even now almost 15 years later its still getting lots of lewds! It has even more staying power than KanColle it seems. (And as I recently said on the GuP sub, luckily some artists seem to recognize the show does have adult characters! Shiho is a fine milf)
