My main interest is who's the voice actor for Kusanagi.
Professional-Bus-7492026-01-30 04:49
Since the original voice actor passed away in 2024.
acoolsweater2026-01-30 05:34
I didn't know that, that's a shame. RIP Atsuko
okiknow20042026-01-30 06:45
Wasn’t Maaya Sakamoto been voicing her in the recent series?
Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-30 09:05
No, Maaya voiced her in Arise (and also partially in the second OG movie).
Skyreader132026-01-30 06:45
Maaya Sakamoto already voiced her in the last anime
I wonder if she's returning
Mataraiki2026-01-30 05:40
Is the SAC English VA still around? I was actually surprised to find out it wasn't Jennifer Hale after playing through Mass Effect, they both have the same awesome, commanding quality to their voices.
HomersApe2026-01-30 05:49
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.
Still around. Still amazing.
Same with Richard Epcar (Bato). William Knight passed away a few years, unfortunately.
They were all in SAC 2045.

At least there's SARU for 3d models and I.G for action scenes.
Dry-Review66982026-01-30 05:21
YOOO why'd I get downvotes,I know Saru is gonna do good,Anyway what is this anime gonna be about
ElectricSliderz2026-01-30 05:55
The music in that trailer is ear cancer
Zombatico2026-01-30 06:27
Hmm. The clips in the PV1 makes me think it'll be a more direct, straightforward adaptation of the source material manga than all the previous movies and shows. Some of the scenes look one-to-one from my hazy memories.
I wonder if we'll get the lesbian orgy scene.
oomoepoo2026-01-30 08:33
Pretty sure that was the plan from the get go, at least far as I remember from the announcement.
faithfulheresy2026-01-30 11:28
Lesbian orgy scene or we riot.
mononautx2026-01-30 13:12
Good and hopefully. The manga was fire.
Super_Fightin_Robit2026-01-30 15:39
At least the first one. Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface gets...out there at the end.
Deruta2026-01-30 06:33
THE FAT TACHIKOMAS!!!!
It was already a must-watch for me but holy shit
rolfraikou2026-01-30 10:31
Holy shit, that is *stunning.*
They captured the manga style so well.
bicb00sac2026-01-30 04:40
Hopefully this gets more people into GITS; it’s must-watch content fr
5Yonko52026-01-30 05:05
Guess i should watch the 2 movies. Saw the 2 tv shows but i'd rather just wait for this than watch those too.
bicb00sac2026-01-30 05:17
I think u might enjoy them. I love them, but also, imo the movies have a different vibe than SAC cuz u don’t grow with the characters (Togusa, Aramaki, Tachikoma, etc.) as much, and I’d say they focus more on the philosophical aspects of the cyberpunk
harrellj2026-01-30 05:35
SAC also has the tachikomas as comedy relief which the movies didn't, not to the same extent.
BajingoWhisperer2026-01-30 08:23
I really wish the tachikomas weren't just considered comedic relief. They're absolutely critical to one of the main themes of gits
Pecuthegreat2026-01-30 12:28
And they're so moe.
TransposableElements2026-01-30 13:24
> They're absolutely critical to one of the main themes of gits
Im not a huge fan of SAC but absolutely love the movies.
OxFEEDBEEF2026-01-30 15:01
> Guess i should watch the 2 movies
The original movie from the mid 90s is one that to this day remains **THE** anime movie for me. Some TV channel in the 90s was doing these themed movie nights. I love to think that it was the BBC, but it's been so long that I'm not sure anymore. That night they aired Ghost in the Shell, Akira, and another movie I didn't stay up for.
It's a movie that couldn't have been made at a better time. Technology advanced in leaps and bounds, in about 10 years time you saw an evolution from mostly analogue electronics in most things to completely digital electronics by the time this came out. Every iteration of computer chips was a significant performance gain and it felt like there'd be no end to that rapid paced evolution. The Internet, a vast network of endless information back then labeled the Information Super Highway, was slowly making its way to every household via dial-up, and would begin to revolutionize the way we communicate, do business and even learn.
In comes that Ghost in the Shell movie, set in fictional city obviously based on Hong Kong (again, the timing) in a future where people have hybridized parts their body with technology, or completely replaced it, becoming cybernetic organisms. It presents you with topics like hacking, not just pure technology but actual people, an artificial intelligence that has achieved awareness and seeks to evolve, questions about ownership of those cybernetic components and one's body, and questioning the nature of identity.
The pacing of this movie may seem odd at times. Some people complain that the [interlude montage scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARTLckN9e7I) right after [the boat scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryJSu1f8Hi4) (spoilers) makes the movie too slow paced. Personally, the pacing is what I think elevates this movie, the montage shot over the haunting soundtrack giving you time to digest some of the themes of the movie, as Motoko Kusanigi standing on a ferry boat sees an identical cyborg body to hers sitting in a shop with a drink. It's a blink-and-you-miss-it shot.
Some 20-odd years later, I found myself in Tokyo at 5AM, after going from restaurant to bar to karaoke club and finally ending up in some small restaurant open at this ungodly hour. There I sat discussing this movie with an otaku friend in a mixture of broken Japanese and English, both of us arguing why this movie is amazing over fried rice, gyoza and beer. Two grown ass men in a fairly inebriated state discussing these larger than life themes presented in an animation 20 years ago, before hitting a conbini for one last drink and scurrying off home.
I've never read the manga. I enjoyed SAC for what it was, but to me none of the shows managed to touch the same high notes as that one movie I watched in the dead of night on TV in the 90s. I'll probably give this show a fair watch too.
I hope you enjoy this movie. I think it's a masterpiece.
MLPicasso2026-01-30 05:20
Bro, take a look at the promo image. You know them fucking tourist gonna be saying is gooner anime and some fucking dumb shit like that
bicb00sac2026-01-30 05:21
😭 more so, hope it doesn't get overshadowed by Bleach TYBW final cour and Mushoku Tensei S3, which are sharing the summer season
Holy-Wan_Kenobi2026-01-30 06:29
I only ever watched that one live action one from a while back. Probably not the best way to get into it, but I'm down to try again!
Chikumori2026-01-30 12:30
What's this version of GITS going to be?
Remake/modern version compared to OG?
Sequel to OG?
aohige_rd2026-01-30 13:28
No, this is going to be the literal OG. As in, faithful to the style of the original manga.
While Oshii's film was great, it barely resembled the original manga it was sourced from. S.A.C. tried to strike a balance between the two, but so far there has been no anime adaptation that actually tried to bring the original manga into animated form. They are finally tackling that with this one.
LilSopa__2026-01-30 12:40
I had it on my list for a while now. Do I want to watch all the entries before this?
Nyaaski2026-01-30 04:42
Oh man I love this design for the Major. I'm so excited for this!
mysticzoom2026-01-30 04:45
Heh, still have my copy on VHS tape.
Looks like they are going with the art direction of the manga.
lordposedyon2026-01-30 05:11
Visually vise I will love this.
MLPicasso2026-01-30 05:21
They are, it was shown since the first teaser and shit looks amazing

The metal sheen is very Sorayama-esque
thegoodgero2026-01-30 05:37
I believe he designed the logo
Irrerevence2026-01-30 05:26
They definitely gave her 2 noticeable upgrades
Rejestered2026-01-30 10:24
It's actually closer to the original designs by Masamune Shirow
_-Smoke-_2026-01-30 07:14
I like the 80/90's design aesthetic. Hopefully it's closer to the original movie or GitS S1/S2 than the recent releases.
Goddamn_it_99912026-01-30 04:43
Is this a completely new series?
Nyaaski2026-01-30 04:46
It'll follow the original manga more faithfully unlike the original GITS (which btw is really good so you should definitely check it out if you haven't)
Goddamn_it_99912026-01-30 04:49
Ic, thanks
WackyRedWizard2026-01-30 04:52
There's a movie and a series which one should I watch?
Shadowmist9092026-01-30 04:56
Both are 10/10 different takes on the story using the same cast. You can't go wrong with whichever one you choose.
StylisticArchaism2026-01-30 04:57
I would start with the original movie. It's a whole vibe.
Nyaaski2026-01-30 04:59
It's a bit complex. But [this post on anilist](https://anilist.co/forum/thread/65713) does a pretty good job at explaining it.
RaineV12026-01-30 05:02
Long story short, the movie and the main series, Stand Alone Complex, are basically different takes on the story. Either one makes a good starting point. Or looking at the manga which is different than them in a lot of ways.
soulreaverdan2026-01-30 04:47
Yes, it looks to be based more closely off the manga
Waveeeee2026-01-30 04:43
this poster is so SICK
Benphyre2026-01-30 06:08

ggtsu_002026-01-30 06:12
I want it as a poster. Is this Shirow's work?
Arturo-Plateado2026-01-30 08:41
The KV is illustrated by Shuhei Handa, who is the character designer of this adaptation
renorosales2026-01-30 09:08
If it were Shirow’s work, there’d lots of oil
Sandelsbanken2026-01-30 07:07
Reminds me of that PS1 Tachikoma game intro.
Archy382026-01-30 07:31
Goes fucking hard
segv2026-01-30 07:38
It's very much in the style of the original 90s mangas - i *really* hope they don't screw it up by "modernizing"
Sibula972026-01-30 08:06
I think the idea was to make a faithful adaptation this time. The visuals until now seem to match at least.
Heiopei_422026-01-30 12:33
>i *really* hope they don't screw it up by ***"modernizing"***
What do you even mean by that?
The main character is a strong bisexual woman, that alone usually gets meet with lots of hatred from the usual "anti-modern media" crowd.
On top of that, she ends up using a male body at the end of the story of the first GitS manga, which may not say much about her identity, but at the very least implies the general possibilities people have in this universe.
On top of that, a major plot point of this story, revolved around the Mossad(from Israel) starting a conspiracy to frame certain middle eastern states for terrorist attacks taking place in Japan, in order to mess with their relations to Japan, so Israel looks more favorable for the Japanese government.
If anything would be modern, it would be depicting a story that dares to depict the Mossad in a negative light, given all the shit that is going on in real life.
Super_Fightin_Robit2026-01-30 15:51
It's funny how people complain about "politicization" of things they grew up with in the 1980s/1990s because they haven't bothered going back and watching it. For every "Pro-east german terrorist group" (Die Hard), you have a [scene like this one referencing geopolitical issues that haven't changed much besides (some of) the people](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzGmVUFDomc) or this scene where a [black kid is afraid of cops in one of the best action movies of all time](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ACfRh0gOUwo). Things have always been political, and don't even get me started on comic books.
Not that is what the guy you're responding to is necessarily worried about - there are lot of negative "modern" trends in anime, be it production shortcuts, choices in music, media delivery decisions, or the overuse of CGI for things that can be hand animated (when SAC aired in like 2002 as one of the first HD anime ever made, the CGI in the opening and for the tachikomas was an expensive novelty and it was cool, but now, it's annoying and cheap,) etc. I wouldn't worry about Ghost in the Shell too much - not everything in the IP has been a smash hit, but it's never been bad, nor has it ever really fallen into industry trends.
Myhtological2026-01-30 04:44
Looks hornier than before
SolomonBlack2026-01-30 04:46
The manga is very horny and makes clear the Major fucks (both) and this could be right out of the manga.
Ace_082026-01-30 04:49
What manga specifically, are there multiple?
Purple_Racoon2026-01-30 05:01
The original
SolomonBlack2026-01-30 05:07
*THE* manga, that started the franchise.
So you'll find it under just Ghost in the Shell though the later parts (aka after what the movie adapted) get a 1.5 and 2.0 bit for whatever reason in the official release. Its an old release now but I still see it on shelves now and then.
I suppose if you sail the seven seas you might find it under "Kōkaku Kidōtai" or "Mobile Armored Riot Police" the original Japanese title. If you open with the team joking about the Major being on the rag though you're in the right place.
Haha91haha2026-01-30 04:51
Well if you're familiar with the source material it'll be interesting to see if they adapt "certain scenes", it's a touch raunchier in places.
acoolsweater2026-01-30 05:35
a touch is underselling it a bit lol. That creator horny as hell.
NecroCannon2026-01-30 06:46
As an artist I’m really feeling like the most horny of us is the most creative. Like I probably never could admit that I can understand fabric and anatomy enough to basically X-ray vision onto paper, which ties to my weird fetish of how clothes fit on bodies
I started making money after realizing those and accepting it, not even from porn I just shot up in skill, I swear horniness just unlocks something deep within you. It’s no wonder it progressed society.
We just can’t accept that fact, because of the depravity that’ll be unleashed in a society openly sexual brings fear to all. Even myself, I’ll just keep avoiding looking at women. On the bright side, I’ve learned telling someone they’re so beautiful I’d create masterpieces drawing them is my most successful romantic compliment because… it’s genuinely true and is surprisingly a turn on. I just also can’t choose them over art so I fuck it up still.
acoolsweater2026-01-30 07:02
I make smut for a living, so I get you. lol. the horny as hell comment wasn't a judgement. Just a truth lol.
NecroCannon2026-01-30 07:29
Dog it’s so bad I can’t even think of it as a judgement unless you’re directly shitting on them, people really got no clue how horny and depraved creators are, because we don’t even struggle keeping both hands up, we just do it for the love of the game.
I honestly feel like in art mode I could watch two people having sex and just be there thinking “Very educational” while sketching, genuinely getting some knowledge, but would be called being super fucking horny if people find out lmao. Which.. fair, but the more I think about it that sounds like way better studies than porn… fucking hell I’m cursed
acoolsweater2026-01-30 07:40
I cant remember the exact quote or who it was from, but there was common thing about disney animators and any other type of classic animation where when they weren't animating the movie, they were drawing the characters fucking, all the time. Look at the sexy nurses in old cartoons, or don bluths whole library lol.
Creative people are horny and so is everyone else, creatives just have a more public outlet for it. And its fun to draw people fucking. The whole internet basically built on smut. People like to pretend they are above it and might judge you, but you know they freaks too. Were all cursed together, it's alright.
NecroCannon2026-01-30 08:37
It’s in our genes to mate and love in many forms, I’m honestly sure a ton of studios got a porn vault, I do not question the existence of official Sandy Cheeks porn when I’ve seen SpongeBob’s dick jokes.
I honestly feel like society right now is going through that loud death phase where people are just going to accept we’re just fucking horny. Women alone owning it means a ton to help perception, truth is we find porn valuable like any possession and would throw money to see more of what we love. It’s why, I’m honestly I’m using printing porn comic issues independently as a way to start having physical comic sales in general. I’m even wanting to do ads like “bring back porn stashes! You don’t have to worry about a porn issue showing on your devices!” Which honestly phone nosiness is a real issue with porn rn, I’d definitely throw $5 to own an actual copy of something that “spoke” to me since there’s not too many places to host it either.
Musiclover42002026-01-30 09:45
Fritz the Cat is another interesting classic example, some of Crumb's friends basically said the hyper sexuality was his repressed fetishes bleeding into his work.
Venture_compound2026-01-30 07:22
Masamune Shirow created it. Of course it's horny. Of course it's amazing.
Shadowmist9092026-01-30 04:45
I'm so hyped for the return of The Major and Public Security Section 9!
Cephalo_Kayum2026-01-30 10:00
One thing I remember from the movie is the line 'You don't send rabbits to hunt for a wolf' but I am not sure if it was originally Japanese or it was in the original production.
BiggieCheeseLapDog2026-01-30 04:45
She’ll be breasting boobily more so in this series than the movie I suspect.
soulreaverdan2026-01-30 04:48
This is going to be based more on the manga, she’s a lot less serious and more flirty at times compared to the 1995 movie or SAC, though no less skilled and dangerous when it calls for it
AndalusianGod2026-01-30 04:52
Huh, I'm a fan of the films and SAC. Didn't know her personality is quite different in the animated versions. This would be interesting. How about Batou? Is he different in the manga as well?
kamibyakkoya2026-01-30 05:06
Very, I would say the overall tone of the manga is way more comedic/slapstick (and hornier) compared to any of the adaptations so far, and it’s more episodic with only a vague continuity across the chapters,
I think a lot of people will be caught off-guard by it, and maybe dislike it, I personally found it interesting to see the thematic strings Oshii drew from/tied together to make his film duology
AndalusianGod2026-01-30 05:14
Thanks. I'll mentally prepare myself for this one then.
SolomonBlack2026-01-30 05:34
"Way more" is a gross exaggeration.
The manga is a cop/military drama full of shit talkers not a comedy series. That's strictly for omake bits with the Fuchikoma that directly inspired the Tachikoma in SAC.
If your vision of the franchise is centered on the 95 movie and its depression its rough if you've watched SAC you'll be fine.
Mistghost2026-01-30 05:52
>This is going to be based more on the manga
Are going to finally get to see the virtual lesbian boat orgy animated?
KaineNierWeissEmil2026-01-30 11:09
There are two kinds of Ghost in the Shell fans, those who argue Major should wear pants in SAC… and those who remember that chapter 3 of the manga opened with her naked on a boat having a very un-Stand-Alone experience without any pants.
AcceptAnimosity2026-01-30 14:39
Idk I own the manga and it annoys me that they cut those pages from the physical release (but the rating is still 18+?) but also the Major looks a lot cooler when she's not in the leotard, at least in SAC.
8andahalfby112026-01-30 05:54
I find that interesting. I've tried to get into SAC twice but wasn't able to make it past Episode 3 because I found the Major's personality to be really dry. In comparison I ate up Tank Police, which is supposedly by the same author. Maybe this will be closer to my preferences?
OCASM2026-01-30 08:41
Most likely yes.
Massive_Weiner2026-01-30 04:56
Kusanagi is almost a completely different person in the original manga compared to the more famous movie adaptation.
She’s actually fun instead of acting dead inside all of the time.
I’m already preparing myself for all of the scathing “they butchered/didn’t understand the original” threads when this releases.
SolomonBlack2026-01-30 05:37
Illiteracy is terrible ain't it?
SweetTea10002026-01-30 06:23
Just a lack of media literacy. People can read the book, listen to the album, etc for the most part. The problem is how many people can watch Star Trek, read X-Men, listen to RAtM, etc. and leave thinking "I loved that! Well, time to go oppress more people!" Like 90% of our most universally beloved stories are "diverse group of allies defeats wealthy business / empire" then people go to work as the bad guys 5 days a week.
17317995172026-01-30 09:01
Or maybe its a case of a pretty meh manga that did not age well being adapted to a timeless masterpiece that overrode its cultural significance by miles.
CitizenJoestar2026-01-30 05:37
Have not seen the movie adaptation yet somehow, despite growing up in that era of anime. I know it's a classic, but at this point I might as well watch this first.
Would be interesting to go into the movie with the perspective of the wildly different, but more faithful SARU adaptation.
animepig2026-01-30 04:47
Will they cover GitS 2? cause that manga was so confusing.
The manga version should be more familiar to those that saw the OG movie
Cipher-IX2026-01-30 04:47
Whoa whoa whoa.
When was this announced?!?!
FriedRiceistheBest2026-01-30 04:53
I think last year?
filimaua132026-01-30 04:49
Another one?
Is this connected to any of the previous movies and series?
Asking cos I've only seen the original film and wanna know if I can just jump into this.
Pataconeitor2026-01-30 04:52
Nope, it's a more faithful adaptation of the OG GitS manga by Shirow
filimaua132026-01-30 04:53
Oh nice! That makes things easier 😄
Wait, was the original movie not as faithful?
Pataconeitor2026-01-30 04:59
The movie adapts the last third of the manga, changing the general tone and especially the personality of the main character. For example, that final conversation between the Major and the artificial intelligence does happen in the manga, but the tone of the scene is actually kinda relaxed and casual.
filimaua132026-01-30 05:01
Hmmm okay interesting. Its been years since I watched it, and I only watched it once lol. But I do remember a confrontation with the Major. Or whatever that was.
It must be a longer manga, hence why a television format is more fitting for adapting this story then?
Confused-penguin52026-01-30 04:49
Love Dan da Dan, excited to see them do Ghost in the Shell.
Icapica2026-01-30 08:44
Did you watch Sanda? It's also by Science SARU, it's really wild and aired late last year.
Musiclover42002026-01-30 09:52
Didn't realize that was by them too, was curious but haven't checked it out yet.
Looking over Science SARU's wiki it looks like their first work was on 2 Shin Chan movies & Space Dandy so they're been crushing it from the start.
Confused-penguin52026-01-30 16:06
I haven’t, I’ll need to add it to the list

alconnow2026-01-30 09:31
You should check out **A Witch’s Life in Mongol**. That’s also airing in July. It will be directed by Abel Gongora (he directed season 2 of **Dandadan**)
SirePuns2026-01-30 04:49
This got my attention tbqh.
I’m mainly a fan of SAC, but it isn’t like I’m against more different stuff for GITS. I’m just not sure I’ll like it as much. With that being said, I’m still excited for more GITS.
StylisticArchaism2026-01-30 04:55

Man those are some big…glasses.
baboon_bassoon2026-01-30 05:10
Hell yes
GameMaster00972026-01-30 05:12
GORGEOUS
playteckAqua2026-01-30 05:14
Gonna be alot of movie only fans hating on the original lmao, the major is such a goofy ass character in the manga
MLPicasso2026-01-30 05:27
I'm a lover of the movies and SAC, if morons didn't ever read the manga it is their fault
ILiveForWater2026-01-30 06:24
This will be my first experience with the franchise so guess I won't need to worry!
RageLonginus2026-01-30 05:16
Looks good
Xu_Lin2026-01-30 05:16
GITS? More like TITS!
Was she ever that stacked tho?!
Rathurue2026-01-30 05:18
Very Masamune Shirow graphics, so high hopes there.
SameEnergy2026-01-30 05:22
So hyped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dagreenman182026-01-30 05:22
I’m so hyped to see them take on one of the most iconic IPs in Anime. This is massive. And hopefully much better than the weirdness with 2045. And bonus: their style lends itself well to a direct adaptation of the manga’s more fun style
Wobbuffetking2026-01-30 05:23
Really excited for this. I wonder if it'll just be a straight adaptation of the manga or if they'll switch/add stuff (maybe integrate some 1.5 content, but change it to occur before the ending of 1).
Also the og manga has some content concerning a certain country that might seem particulary relevant given recent geopolitics, so hopefully they don't change/censor that.
Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-30 05:25
Even in a year as goated for anime as 2026 seems to be, this is probably one of my top 5 most anticipated series.
eetsumkaus2026-01-30 05:25
did they announce voice casting for the Major already?
jajangmien2026-01-30 05:31
Looks like a return to its roots as far as art style goes. I wasn't as much a fan of major's look in some of the more recent shows.
RayearthIX2026-01-30 05:38
Awesome! OG manga is excellent. Looks a lot better visual style than the awful SAC2045.
NighthawK19112026-01-30 05:40
Nice.
I wonder who will voice the Major. I hope it's Maaya Sakamoto again.
Atsuko Tanaka is the major's VA but Maaya Sakamoto also voiced her in Arise and in the original movie the new child body she used.
fm_bel2026-01-30 05:40
Instantly Adds to Watchlist!
loadstar672026-01-30 05:41
make a hentai version of it like "mezzo fortz" and "a kite"
MonkMew2026-01-30 05:43
Can we be done with this franchise, where is the new stuff
Night-Owl2542026-01-30 05:44
Yooo is this a remake?
Acrobatic-Dumdum52222026-01-30 06:24
Nah, it's more like a faithful adaptation this time around.
SecondRealitySims2026-01-30 05:45
I understand that this is a more loyal design to the manga. Maybe the movies or other takes have biased me. I’m not a fan. Perhaps the show will change that, but I don’t like it as much as her other designs on my first look.
UltimateKaiser2026-01-30 05:46
Not a lot of shell for the this ghost if yk what I mean 😜
chiku002026-01-30 05:46
Whoever is the seiryu, I hope they do Atsuko Tanaka justice.
gvon892026-01-30 05:46
So can we watch this without watching any other GITS media beforehand? Sounds like this is based on the start of the manga
wutfacer2026-01-30 05:46
Hope this is good! I wish they would do Battle Angel Alita too
CMC_Conman2026-01-30 05:49
Gotta love the Major
LowCommunication33592026-01-30 05:51
Whys it look way different from the other anime films ?
ChampionshipIll61712026-01-30 05:55
The colors go hard. Do you prefer this bold style or the more low key classic look?
DoughDisaster2026-01-30 06:08
I will be cautiously hopeful. I have loved Ghost in the Shell for decades and have a lot of the media. However, Arise was, frankly, fucking garbage. I have never been able to finish it or get into it. And while the Live Action movie was... an interesting spectacle at best, it is also an obvious shitty cash grab. GitS has become an IP that gets endlessly recycled because it was once a classic, but there's no guarantee further cash grabs will be actual quality. Being Bandai-Namco also does not inspire confidence in me, at all.
All that said, this poster is fucking great and looks like a mash up of SAC and Shirow Masamune's old pinup style. So I guess we'll see.
kris12k42026-01-30 06:15
Science SARU? I'm hyped.
IamNickJones2026-01-30 06:23
Rewatching Stand Alone Complex Blu-ray set now and I cannot wait.
Acrobatic-Dumdum52222026-01-30 06:25
BOOBS! TITS EVEN!
Sweet-Message11532026-01-30 06:50
oh yeah...they are going full manga version
nothing against Oshii sensei(Top 10 anime directors) but he made the anime overly serious when the manga is hella quirky. This might shell shock people who are only familiar with GitS from watching the anime movies & Standalone Complex series
Malorn442026-01-30 06:50
It's crazy how science saru can do so many different styles
Ehgadsman2026-01-30 07:01
'The Ghost in the Shell: Fully Compiled' manga is on sale on Amazon, if anyone is interested in that, big thick hardcover graphic novel of all the original artwork for the original manga, just got a copy for $35 USD (delivered damaged and got replacement already, damnit amazon package better!)
Dabuttling2026-01-30 07:11
Their Dandadan adaptation improves on the Manga a lot so I'm excited to see what they do with this.
-GoodNewsEveryone2026-01-30 07:29
I am sorry. I must not have my hearing aid in.
THE WHAT TV ANIME IN 2026!!!!?
literallyjusttony2026-01-30 07:57
Woaaah neat, the colors remind me of holographic trading cards which always sets off something in my brain
Yoh16122026-01-30 08:07
So is GITS finally getting the brotherhood treatment?
AlessNine2026-01-30 08:30
Genuinely thought this was a new yugioh set cover
ValestyK2026-01-30 08:50
Loved the film and series, never read the manga and the poster gives me the impression that I will not enjoy this more faithful adaptation.
OwnEscape22026-01-30 09:12
Its entirely accurate to Shirow original and thats why i hate it.
C12345hey2026-01-30 09:19
this is pretty directly inspired by the old manga cover. so could be an idea of what direction they are going to be taking it.
really looking forwards to see how they handle one of my faves and science saru have been doing really well so im going to be trying to stay hopeful.
_WakkaWakka_2026-01-30 10:50
finally making an adaptation in the style of the original work - what a crazy idea... :D

I wonder if she's returning
Still around. Still amazing.
Same with Richard Epcar (Bato). William Knight passed away a few years, unfortunately.
They were all in SAC 2045.
I wonder if we'll get the lesbian orgy scene.
It was already a must-watch for me but holy shit
They captured the manga style so well.

Im not a huge fan of SAC but absolutely love the movies.
Remake/modern version compared to OG?
Sequel to OG?
While Oshii's film was great, it barely resembled the original manga it was sourced from. S.A.C. tried to strike a balance between the two, but so far there has been no anime adaptation that actually tried to bring the original manga into animated form. They are finally tackling that with this one.
Looks like they are going with the art direction of the manga.
Creative people are horny and so is everyone else, creatives just have a more public outlet for it. And its fun to draw people fucking. The whole internet basically built on smut. People like to pretend they are above it and might judge you, but you know they freaks too. Were all cursed together, it's alright.
I think a lot of people will be caught off-guard by it, and maybe dislike it, I personally found it interesting to see the thematic strings Oshii drew from/tied together to make his film duology
Are going to finally get to see the virtual lesbian boat orgy animated?
She’s actually fun instead of acting dead inside all of the time.
I’m already preparing myself for all of the scathing “they butchered/didn’t understand the original” threads when this releases.
Would be interesting to go into the movie with the perspective of the wildly different, but more faithful SARU adaptation.
The manga version should be more familiar to those that saw the OG movie
When was this announced?!?!
Is this connected to any of the previous movies and series?
Asking cos I've only seen the original film and wanna know if I can just jump into this.
Wait, was the original movie not as faithful?
It must be a longer manga, hence why a television format is more fitting for adapting this story then?
Looking over Science SARU's wiki it looks like their first work was on 2 Shin Chan movies & Space Dandy so they're been crushing it from the start.
I’m mainly a fan of SAC, but it isn’t like I’m against more different stuff for GITS. I’m just not sure I’ll like it as much. With that being said, I’m still excited for more GITS.
The Manga has a different vibe from the Movies and Stand Alone Complex but be warned so you don't have a lot of tonal whiplash
They produce some really really good contents right now.
Was she ever that stacked tho?!
Also the og manga has some content concerning a certain country that might seem particulary relevant given recent geopolitics, so hopefully they don't change/censor that.
