Uhh i mean your lie in april is about the emotional technicality of music but your going to have a hard time finding an anime that actually goes into music theory. Maybe sakamichi no apollon. Kaguya sama has some basic music theory and i think thats as much as ive seen lol

Kono Oto Tomare
Mashiro no Oto

I will absolutely second Kono Oto Tomare. It's so good, and I'd never even *heard* of a koto as an instrument before I randomly decided to watch that show.

I adore Sound Euphonium. Probably in my top 3.
It captures the vibes and behaviors of what is like to perform competitively perfectly. From wetting reeds to draining spit values to “why are clarinets so weird”
It’s incredible how you can hear the difference in playing quality when the band characters are unfocused. The university band that they recorded and re-recorded over and over again almost certainly did not get paid enough

Best music anime I've watched are Carole and Tuesday and Given but they're not super technical. Not adapted but the pppppp manga is more about technique and composition, very niche and I think overall a miss but might suit you.

Yeah C&T is more character driven and about "making it", but is still really good with awesome music.
In the same vein I'd also recommend Girls Band Cry.

nodame cantabile

Seconding this! Not only is it a great blend of comedy and drama it actually had me looking up facts about becoming a composer and what goes into that career path.

Define Musical Style?
Do you want classical - like Beethoven and Bach? Then I suggest Nodame Cantobile. A little older now, but delves into western classical music.
Do you want "Classic Rock" - like Tom Petty and Prince? Then I suggest Listeners. If you know your shit, then you'll recognise where they lift straight from a Tom Petty Music Video....

Blue Giant has great technical jazz performances but isn't the focus of the story.

Kids on the Slope has some moments that get technical. It's a bit more coming of age drama with jazz music as a backdrop but definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet.
