edit: i also really didn't expect the show to be **this** violent, i watched some really violent animes(like dorohedoro and chainsaw man) but the violent in these shows seemed to fit the tone of the show better
[](#thoughtful)
Although in that case I do feel like the sequence was reversed, TNK being more interested in the horny and the romance, and Passione thinking the action deserved more attention.

Anything in mind for that milestone?
Or do a strike the blood rewash of the first 3 seasons and then complete the last 2 seasons cause I dont remember anything except the annoying catch phrase.

* It was good. Slow build up but the pay off was totally worth it. The ending was just mind bending.
* The movie closed up the last loophole in the plot. The last 10 minutes are worth watching but I watched the whole anyway.
*[odd taxi]>!That monkey was a horny bastard. But feel bad for him though. He really did love that girl. Sadly the girl couldn't give a fuck about him at all.!<
*[odd taxi]>!I don't think that it is much different from real life where the kpop girls are working on the side as prostitutes/escorts for rich men!<
*[odd taxi]>!That skinny comedian guy really was an asshole in the end. I guess getting an idol gf got to his head and he became arrogant.!<
*[odd taxi]>!dobu was a real smart guy. Has the potential to become a yakuza boss!<
*[odd taxi]>!I don't know what motivated that mystery kiss manager to give up everything for the band!<
*[odd taxi]>!Finally I understand that alpaca meme that I'd been seeing on reddit!<
*[odd taxi]>!yono guy really was good at rapping. Too bad he lost his skills when shit got tough at the end. He was fun to listen to. Maybe he should start his career as an idol from prison. He might become famous too.!<
*There are two things that still bother me about the anime though:
*[odd taxi]>!What's up with that cat that he was talking to? We didn't get any explanation about that. It was a real cat in the end. So did h e think that it was a real person all along?!<
*[odd taxi]>!That guy whose daughter was murdered, must've been a shady guy. I guess he must've done some shady shit involving killing young girls to have his daughter murdered so brutally. I'm only guessing!<

>*CORRECTION: Due to Winter Storm Fern, the English dub will launch next Friday, February 6. Episodes 2 and 3 will release together on February 13.*
(Side note, Space Patrol Luluco is 1/4 credits. That just feels weird.)
According to MAL, my top rated genre (with at least 10 entries) is music (8.08), while my bottom rated genre is mecha (6.08). I definitely wouldn't have guessed that result, although once I looked at the entries I guess it makes sense. Music is definitely being carried by just a couple shows with multiple entries, so I don't feel like it's that representative. Although I do usually like music shows.
Mecha makes more sense since I've tried several and haven't found many that I'm crazy about. I really feel like I should like this genre more than I do, but I just can't find the right picks!
^(I used mean score for this.)

(If you want wholesome, I'd recommend either one of the torture anime (not being sarcastic) they're both wholesome as fuck!)
What's the point of being on a discussion forum if you just want to be validated with no discussion?
It's a persistent problem across any platform of course, but it still sucks a little.
it's mostly "do you agree with the popular opinion", and sometimes the popular opinion is that it's disappointing
in the end though i wanted more than just a vent session; what i typically get out of reddit episode discussions are things that were interesting, things that i missed, interpretations of plot points, screencaps of cool scenes, etc.
same sort of behavior was going on (but worse) in the One Punch Man S3 threads, which were mostly people piling on top of each other trying to make the same "one frame man"-style jokes
Sometimes it depends on how it's presented, too;
I remember my comment in the finale episode thread was upvoted quite a bit even though I was trashing the show non-stop, but I was doing it in a light-hearted way (that I think was more funny than hateful).
If I straight up said "This show was so fucking bad" I imagine people would've downvoted it, but making fun of the bad stuff is more accepted (well, on shows that are accepted as 'not very good', the same type of post in a Frieren thread would see me at -1000).

This is exactly what the majority of Redditors want, an echo chamber. The platform accomodates their desires.
Beyond the up/down votes, the nature of having different subs also advances that mentality. Hobbies go into different subs, then those hobbies go into their own subs (ex. different sub for each anime IP) and even that can divide into its own subs (ex. different subs for individual characters from a given anime).
Have a completely non-controversial opinion? Sorry, 56% upvote ratio.
reminds me of the perennial "what's your hottest take??" posts, and inevitably the most top voted comments are the coldest takes known to humanity because people still only upvote things they agree with
The main issues are how it affects visibility and sorting, as well as how it reinforces echo chamber effects. Upvoted comments accumulate further upvotes and become established orthodox opinions in the thread, while downvoted comments attract further downvotes or become too far hidden to see altogether. This amplification effect takes place regardless of the contents of the comment itself and can often be terrible for discussion.
In theory I don't mind it, but in practice you basically have to be head over heels for any show with moderate popularity.
sometimes i enjoy inverting the question. it helps me understand the subject at a deeper level. thoughts?
I think if you could decouple the idea of upvotes being likes you could use upvote for posts that contribute to discussion and down vote for posts that don't contribute to discussion.
In practice, it's not harmful to have meaningless "hype" comments at the top of the thread because it doesn't stop discussion from occuring further down.
Reddit doesn't fulfill just a single role. It's a news site, a discussion platform, a shitpost generator, an image host, and much more. I don't think you NEED to have a discussion around all posts that get created, but ideally you'd like to preserve that as a function as well. The downvote button effectively creates a situation where all other functions of the site are preserved besides discussion, while an upvote can boost content but not necessarily remove or hide it like the down vote can.
It seems like a simple question but I think it's a false equivalence in what upvoting and downvoting accomplishes.
How do you feel about it?
sadly we do not live in that world. i think if a systems ideal use case is too complex for the public, its probably not a great system.
however i dont really think the upvote downvote situation is enough of an issue to require a 'solution'.
ill upvote comments with 1 or 2 points if i think more people should see them.
ill upvote a comment with -3 if i think its just an opinion that isnt really doing anything 'wrong'
It's not the biggest issue ever, but it does suck to be down voted for not sharing the popular opinion.
What's most interesting to me, is that almost everyone would agree with this take, BUT they would disagree with the other way around:
"I wish people wouldn't use the upvote button as the I agree button".
In my opinion, seeing a hot take (that isn't just dumb trolling) at -50 downvotes, is just as meaningless as seeing "OP is a banger" at 500 upvotes.
I'd swap them around, at least the hot take can get some interesting discussion going!
For me I don't mind seeing things that aren't contributing to discussion upvoted because they're not "hurting" anyone by being there outside of maybe drowning out less popular comments.
The downvote button puts your posts BELOW brand new comments so it actively inhibits your ability to discuss. People get some weird pack mentality around it to and they like to downvote posts they already see downvoted.
I can't expect Reddit to fully conform to me so I just try and keep it sorted by new whenever I can.
It's reddit. There's whole safe spaces on Reddit like... Well trust me, they exist. They don't want unlike minded people there.
their subreddit won't let me ask this question
I like films that use their runtime wisely. With plenty of time to spare (2+ hours), it managed to build a strong emotional core. At the end, you’re more likely than not to have become rather fond of Iroha and Kaguya. Their banter surely was great.
[Cosmic Princess Kaguya - conclusion] >!The subtle suggestion that Kaguya was the one who’d inadvertedly created the original story of Princess Kaguya was a nice little twist.!<
Not sure I agree about only outgoing people fighting though. I'm as instaying as they come and I fight with people plenty. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've fought at least once with everyone I'm close to, past and present.
Edit: Forgot to mention Asa's friend's VA. Incredible performance in the brief time she gets. Hope she's a recurring character.
Every new character added so far has been great. Which makes this show a "great" one for me.
After ep 3, I went ahead and bumped it up from a 9 to a 10.
I went into this season with the feeling that this would rank highly for me. It was my most anticipated anime (despite not being a source reader) and it has more than met my expectations.
Yea, I‘ve been saying this as well, tbh her performance was the one that impressed me the most this episode. The pure desperation you could hear in her voice, out of fear she might have lost her best friend forever over her fuck up (which only happened due to her mom escalating in the forst place), felt so real.
**After War Gundam X** (1996) Mecha
**Future Diary** (2011) Supernatural
**God Eater** (2015) Action
**Magical Girl Site** (2018) Suspense
**Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department** (2022) Comedy
**Black Butler** (2008) Action
Memorable
> Magical Girl Site
Forgettable
I thought it was a pretty fun spin on a workplace comedy with a henshin theme, but honestly not *that* noteable or memorable. There's been a lot of other parody anime on the same theme, like *Love After World Domination* which aired the season afterwards, which I think managed to do it better. Not a bad watch, but when I made my AniList last year I missed including it...
> Black Butler (2008) Action
Honestly, I cannot recommend watching this for any reason other than watching the sequels *Book of Circus* and onwards. The early parts of the story is some of the roughest, and the lackluster animation and the fact that most of the season is filler does not help at all. Eps 1-6 and 13-15 are the only canon episodes, and I only recommend watching them in order to move on to the sequel seasons.
Yuno is 100% of the appeal of this show.
Dude is atrocious and the non-Yuno plot is a bit whatever.
But there's a few really strong scenes, and a few cute ones [Future Diary]>!the pretend wedding scene is so fucking cute!<
But yeah, even just for Yuno I think it's worth it.
>Magical Girl Site
I honestly don't remember too much of it, other than it was edgy and I kinda like edgy so fine!
I think I should rewatch it, to know how I'd feel about it now...
[](#hackadollthumbsup)
The canon parts of this series make for some of the best horror flavored mystery in anime, but guys won't watch it because they think it's gay or will give them girl cooties or something.
Magical Girl Site is basically torture porn. I do know some people who like it and find something validating in it, or otherwise enjoy how over-the-top miserable it is. But I didn't get anything out of it, it didn't seem like torture in a way I can genuinely empathize with or laugh at.
Miss Kuoritsu from the Monster Development Department is really fun, I'm a fan of this one. It's got a really clever concept that it fleshes out admirably and the characters are a blast, with delightful designs. Its biggest issue is its animation, which is always less than stellar but absolutely melts down in the final few episodes, killing some of the delivery of jokes in those episodes. But overall I had a good time with it, would recommend.
Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department was pretty fun. I remember the finale in particular being really well executed.
We talking animes like Talentless Nana and the list is endless
Talentless Nana at a 7.16 MAL score isn't exactly drawing viewers deeper into the anime medium.
[](#peasants)
[](#utahapraises)
Fixed!
He posts that every day.
Fixed further.
[](#seasonallaugh)
And then Takenori's only lines being "Woman, shut up I'm the boss" and "Hmmm....the stocks."
If they stay consistent, both shows are headed to a 10/10 rating, and I don't think I ever had two 10/10 on the same day... Hell, I almost never have two 10/10 in a season (I think Winter 2021 was the only time it happened).
-----
With two 10/10 and a bunch of potential 8s and 9s, this might shape up to be one of my strongest season of anime, ever. (And I'm not even watching most of the 'big hitters' - Not caught up on Frieren/Jigokuraku, dropped a few others, etc..)
I honestly don't know if Frieren's gonna do it for me when I eventually watch it, but if it does, and it's a 10 for me, that would be the first time I ever have 3 in a season.
[](#flustered)
[](#utahapraises)
The only show that I’m likely to give an 10/10 this season is Journal with Witch however.
[](#mmmmyrgh)
Feels a bit silly to say considering how popular the show is, but somehow it still feels to me like season 3 isn't getting the attention it deserves.
[](#annoyedkirito "Having to constantly dodge manga haters in every single OnK related discussion is such a pain though.")
Is this a Ruby season?
I love her.
Dropped.
Yeah, it's crazy how good an Indiana Jones movie this would have made. Other than Rock's insane moralizing about dead nazis the story is incredible. Especially the finale on the big boat.
It doesn't make much sense but that's okay because it's cool.
One isn't as good, but at four minutes per episode it's not that bad either.
It has that controversial animation style (is there a name for this?) a lot of the shorter shows have been using lately (Potion, Forget That Night, Broken Saintess), which I don't really mind, that likely explains the current low score. I give a lot of leeway to shorts anyway.
Lmao not the 4-minute seasonal stepbrother show I was thinking of.
[](#sadholo)
[](#gabdisgust)
[](#toradorasalute)
I also guarantee that the guy that made Drive My Car saw this and based the cig scene on that.
[](#popcorn2)
Edit: One of the best parts about anime parody is learning about things like [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dekirukana).
You'll get a lot more out of recommendations if you pay attention to *why* people are recommending stuff. If people have nothing to say but "it's GOATed / it's a must watch / it's peak" then that's essentially meaningless beyond "that person really liked it".
So with that in mind, what did the recommendations you received actually promote about the series as being good? Fan opinion on JJK is quite mixed for some aspects of the series.
