I need to watch an anime as good as Cowboy Bebop, Trigun or Samurai Champloo.

I haven’t been able to find anything to watch for a while that will satisfy me like one of those did. If you know of any anime from that era that’s similar or really worth watching, please let me know!!!

Hi Sllapymolldy, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

You might also find our [Recommendation Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/recommendations) or [daily thread](/r/anime/search?q=flair%3Adaily&restrict_sr=on&sort=new&t=week) helpful.

Royal-Compote-25732026-01-30 11:33

Ergo Proxy

Steins Gate

Vinland Saga

Kaiji ultimate survivor (please watch this it's so slept on)

Berserk 1997 version ONLY nothing else

Devilman Crybaby

Monster

Pluto

Summertime Rendering

Dororo

Dorohedoro

Cyberpunk Edgerunners

Erased

Parasyte

All of these are absolute bangers. It's very hard to top Samurai Champloo but these will satisfy your needs. If you watch kaiji make sure it's not before bed because it's extremely addictive and will ruin your sleep schedule.

Man, those three are like the absolute peak of “cool” and it’s surprisingly difficult to come up to their level. Having said that I’ve got a couple of suggestions.

Needless, sorcerous stabber orphen, MAR, legend of legendary heroes,

Quantumdelirium2026-01-30 13:02

It might not be from that era but Princess Principal. Most of my favorite shows are from that era, but Princess Principal immediately became one of my favorite shows. It's incredibly unique, creative, and a original anime series like Samurai champloo and cowboy bebop

If your looking for anime with similar vibes check out Dororo and MegaloBox
