The worst love rival you've ever seen?

I don't mean like badly written but just human scum. I know some that were pretty annoying with their shemes, but most of the time when they eventually fail, they turn out to be quite tame and friendly towards the main cast. But I wanna see some characters so crazy you can hate through the whole show lmao

She is and it’s overblown imo. Yes she does a couple of sketchy things. Honestly I found it refreshing. People forget they’re high schoolers. Teenagers aren’t little angels paragons of virtue. I had more issue with some of the adults in the show that straight up blackmail kids.

Himari is certainly up there. Typical interaction:

Himari: Yu, kiss me!

*Yu tries to kiss her*

Himari: LoL! I was totally taunting you!

*Yu hangs out with Rion*

Himari: Yu, how dare you spend any time with someone else!

She also does the whole "If we're both single at 30, let's get married!" thing which is a common thing across a bunch of different mediums. In other words, "I will only get together with you as a last resort after 10+ years of trying to find someone better than you.". One of the most insulting things imaginable you can say to someone who has feelings for you.

It makes sense when you acknowledge Mami is a whore and doesn’t necessarily want Kazuya, she is just jealous that Kazuya isn’t goo ing over her anymore.

The flashback chapter basically explains her character.

Her father is rich, powerful, controlling and is the one that decides her relationships. She had something serious with someone before, and he used money to rip the two apart.

She goes forward treating relationships as shortlived, disposable and for the sake of appearance. One part in order to feel that she has control (she's the one using others and throwing them aside) but also one part to avoid the deep hurt again (if it gets too serious, like with Kazuya wanting to involve her with his family, because her dad's going to be all like "nope, you're marriage is arranged to so and so").

To her, Kazuya is the genuine that she "had" to give up, the happiness he has with Chizuru or others is a reminder of her own misery and of course, the deception / transactional nature of the rental gf gig doesn't sit well with her (again, from the flashback chapter, she really *would* like to just have a normal, sincere relationship...so it's like she's seeing a part of her current, deceptive bitter self that she hates in other people)

**tl;dr**: She's a flawed person who does bad things, but ultimately tragic. She's jealous that, from her point of view, Chizuru can have her cake and eat it too (deceive, still have a real relationship) while she herself is consigned to starvation (deceive, end relationship, repeat).

I always hated Ume Kurumizawa in Kimi ni Todoke. Like all of the stuff she does is the worst with no way back to being likeable. I don't remember exactly but I think she vanishes from the story after she failed to get the guy, but anyway this character is just scum.

I dislike love rivals in general as I just don't enjoy love triangles at all. But the worst love rivals would be any time its the MCs sister.

If you're talking about despicable behavior however, basically any villainess show as that's usually the premise. I just started watching the Holy Grail of Eris, it's a good example of actual scum for love rivals

Do they have to be in serious contention? If we're talking about more mundane slice of life/romcom type series, it's hard to think of a morally worse "love rival" than Yamai from Komi Can't Communicate. She literally commits kidnapping and (seemingly serious) threats of murder in addition to all of the stalking and sexual harassment. If you're including romantic *subplots* in more of an action anime, there's probably someone out there far worse, but it doesn't come to mind immediately.

Komi Can't Communicate is quite the odd show in that Komi is practically cardboard and the show has all these crazed side characters such as this kidnapper girl or this other girl who comes off as if she's high on drugs or drunk in every scene.

The purple haired guy in [Princess Army: Wedding★Combat](https://myanimelist.net/anime/3605/) (Hajime?) is the new suitor on the block so I will take him to be a rival. Starts off as the amicable buffoon bishonen (womanising and then tripping up type one) but like most "amicable buffoon"-types use it as a front to being a piece of shit (serious entitlement problems over his fiance; that he's never met, that was arranged by someone else) [episode 1 ends with]>!forcibly undressing the girl (a supposed great martial artist who doesn't fight back)!<. [In episode 2]>!he just won't leave the girl alone, nowhere at school is safe not even the toilet or the changing rooms (as much as a metal bucket gets thrown at him it's very much taken as "oh, you"). Despite that the girl is like "there's nothing wrong with Hajime" and because the girl won't say no, nearly gets married, it takes another love rival challenging the guy to a duel for the girl to come to her senses!<.

That's most the reason why the MAL score is low.

Akane from Scum's Wish, which has really screwed up dynamics. MC Hanabi is in love with her teacher Kanai (whom she calls her brother even though they're not related). Mugi is in love with his teacher Akane. Kanai is in love with Akane. Akane loves getting all the attention from everyone and cycles through as many people as possible not particularly caring about any of them. But she does love throwing it in Hanabi's face including an infamous scene where [Scum's Wish]>!While passing Hanabi in the hall, Akane tells her "I had sex with your crush last night!"!<.

[Scum's Wish anime]>!No consequences in the anime, in fact Kanai asks her to marry him, she tells him she'll cheat on him and sleep with other guys and he still wants her. Which I've always personally intepreted as showing that Hanabi shoudln't have obsessed over Kanai so much because he was so pathetic to do something like that.!<

[Scum's Wish manga]>!No consequences in the manga either from what I recall. I think it's just a single chapter with her and Kanai in the epilogue.!<

I got a few chapters into Scum's wish and I quickly realized that it was way too much of a "everyone sucks here" manga and dropped it right away.
