"err mom, about those bugs that keep invading the house and scaring you... err... they are actually mine... sorry!" /joke
Be such a badass strategist/commander it all works out and they end up stronger for it.
This boar hunt stuff is a real predicament for the village. Keen to see what solution Allen comes up with to help. Hopefully no one gets gored this time…
Problem is that if it’s Pokémon style and they just need to exist near the fight then people will realise that they can grind XP by making their minions fight for them
Allen: "...instinct... Anyways, I took down 10 more".
Lol.
I'm still in.
Oh, the *horror.*
Bro's dad nearly dies because of bullshit the local lord puts them through, and after all that, the nobles just take 60% of everything.
And even then, he's mostly hunting to keep his family fed over the winter, has to give up the expensive parts in taxes, and trades the rest of the 'spare' meat for other vital necessities, like salt.
Welcome to wage slavery, son! You bust your ass to barely get by while ~~useless parasites~~ your boss gets all the profit!
Pretty sure rebellions tend to happen at rates lower than 60%, as that is basically strangling the population.
Just imagine the psychological toll of knowing your sigma grind is getting taxed at 60%. All while your family lives in a dirt cabin and is struggling just to cover basic necessities after your primary breadwinner was nearly killed doing stupid shit at the boss's own orders.
"Workman's Comp," was basically just giving a -slight- tax reprieve to the dude's *six year old child* who went out hunting in his dad's place.
Right before being told he's need to grind even harder and harder every year.
Man, I would NOT be surprised if this ends in a rebellion over bullshit management/taxes, but I doubt the low-stakes story is going to go there anytime soon.
It didn't occur to me that's the main reason they want to keep more meat during the negotiation part. I thought they want to stock more meat to eat by themselves which was kinda weird since it's a lot. Also, even if they sold it I thought it's going to be taxed.
They were taxed on their primary economic activity, farming, and any other special obligations that their local lord imposed. This typically involved a 'labor tax' of X amount of days per year working 'for free' on some project of the local lord. Think repairing bridges, digging roads, clearing timber, quarrying stone, etc. Just whatever labor the lord needed.
And conscription, ofc. Along with the above, the 'labor taxes' would be levied either before or after the planting season. This meant wars across medieval Europe were largely a seasonal affair. After the harvest, round up the peasants and raid the neighboring kingdom. Return for winter, or at the latest, in time for the spring planting.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
Hunting here is an anomaly. Across medieval Europe, hunting was the favored pastime of nobles (besides war, ofc). Most of the forests were cut down for more farmland, managed for timber (ship building in particular), or kept as hunting preserves for the local lord. Think Robin Hood, as one of his crimes was 'poaching' the Lord's game. A peasant going out to hunt to put food on his table was seen as 'stealing' game the Lord should be hunting for funsies.
As a consequence, most of the 'old growth' forests remaining in Europe were all the old hunting grounds of nobles.
There were other taxes, as well. Toll roads/bridges and typically a few to enter cities. But cities and towns were their own beasts with their own peculiar tax rules. Generally, *countryside* and *cities* were very separate entities and governed by different laws, including taxes. Peasants that live out in the countryside growing wheat and weaving baskets over the winter to barter with didn't deal with coins much. Coins were for city folk and nobles.
Just think of the nightmare of taxing bartered goods. You gotta give 10% of the basket you are trying to trade in for some salt? I guess you can portion out the salt... but taking off 10% of the basket just leaves you with two bits of trash...
And what would the lord do with all the bits and pieces of random junk acquired through taxing barter anyway? Giant lump sums of grain levied from thousands of peasants is one thing, but taking a portion of this and a portion of that would be a huge headache to convert into coinage or process. Better to just tax the peasants on their farms and the merchants on their shops and leave it at that.
Especially since peasants (serfs) didn't have enough coin to tax in the first place... if they even had coins to begin with. So they are taxed in a specific good (harvest) and in labor (after the harvest).
Though it's even slower paced and even with 3 seasons out, they did not get to a point of much action yet.
She seems to be making a lot of money relatively quickly, such as earning gold coins for selling product designs to merchants. But the money she makes never appears to be used or spent in any way to improve their lives.
Her parents pride to take her money/their inability to adjust to that increase in wealth (seen for example in how sparsley they use the paper she gives them as well as their reluctance to let her pay for stuff)
the dangers coming from people on the poor side of town getting reknown&money quickly (jealousy/robbers/abusing nobles)
and probably mostly her goal to save up money to finance her dreams and make even more money in turn in order to protect her family .
The gold coins seem much at that point but it's like 10k is a lot for a normal civilian but chump change for a company boss who has to pay their workers as well as pay for tools&machinery.
her family finances and standing do increase over the course of the few years this story takes as myne raises in rank and influence it's just a very slow burn compared to usual isekai, taking over 30 volumes to reach what many do in the first couple of volumes.
I guess that works. I think I would have preferred Allen's parents confronting him with their worries instead of him leading the conversation, though.
and this last month he hunted 10+ monsters at the age of 6. With a wooden sword...
this is a world where super powers, religion, etc, are fact, not fiction. So his strangeness being related to god is not something hard to accept, specially with parents that are serfs (poor, no education, never travelled the world, etc).
The thing about a false prophet also sounded like a flag. Saying you hear god's voice might not be great either.
People don't tend to question things they are happy to hear about.
Doubly so for something with a kernel of truth in it. MC-kun is, in fact, getting messages from a guy with the same name as the chief deity in this world. He's also been a weird one this whole time. Way too articulate and mature, way too strong, etc.
Plus, there was that bit about the rivalry between the dads. Their friendship nearly ended when Gerda's kid was revealed to be super-duper special. So now MC's dad gets to salvage his lost pride by saying his kid is super-duper special, too.
Again, people rarely second-guess 'convenient' news.
Also, they all saw that he has a strength far above what's reasonable for a 6 years old.
Coming out with the monster summoning is dangerous because people could assume that he is evil or something.
I feel like it was perfectly safe to tell his family he's a summoner. They already knew the birds he caught had bite marks and he told them that the goddess gave him a new type of skill. At that point there isn't much left to hide.
I agree that he's worrying nedlessly, however I can understand the choice to play it safe.
I also think isekai protagonists should act their age a bit more.
Having memories of being an adult doesn't equal being one.
Child brain = Child hormones and a whole slew of other differences.
I have seen soms stories doing it but it's the minority.
And Allen's parents just willing to listen to Allen when he was ready to talk instead of being pushy is just further proof of how good parents they are.
My issue isn't with "optimal" decision making, it's just trust. Allen's decision to handle the situation like this assumes the possibility that they could turn on him and I don't know why he feels that way. I wish the show would present any kind of trial or obstacle to Allen that would back up his thinking, but it looks like the Hell Mode difficulties he's going to face are just combat-based. His life as a serf has been shockingly stable and he already has tons of advantages compared to everyone else.
I did find it interesting to watch him discover the values of things and what he needs to do in order to get his family to being commoners. It was nice to see Gerda teaching him what he needs to know and hearing from who he got the flower from that saved Rodin's life.
The scene with Rodin taking off the bandages though, manservice caught me off guard.
I'm curious to see how Allen will handle the hunts with his experience as a gamer.
It’s interesting that he didn’t tell them about his summons so his plan will have to be pure strategy. Maybe the boars can be led into pits or they can employ large shields (bought by the blacksmith after convincing the chief) to stop the boars in their tracks
Maybe he's waiting to be officially appraised first?
logical conclusion would be to suspect cheating
Also i wonder when Allen will tell his family about his summoner power?
right now: weird powers about controlling monsters
later on: god given power to control monsters, not evil
big difference
I originally thought this is just another trash isekai, however they properly do the world building and not having MC became OP from the get go. Also having people acted like people rather than scumbag is actually nice. Maybe other than the knight's dumb reasoning for testing the girl.
his class is super powerful, it is higher in ranking than hero and demon lord, but hell mode was just debuffs to his progression rate
at least I don't recall any bonuses from episode 1
He gets to enjoy sucking on titties after reincarnating whilst mentally an adult.
>but he mentioned his stat gains on level up were reduced 60% as well?
Matches his tax rate. Surprised he didn't suggest a revolution instead after hearing all that demand for boar meat, just what are they doing with all that meat?
>some hilariously unwashed dirty titties 😂
bruh
Step 2: gather aphrodisiacs that work on monsters
Step 3: forcibly breed them repeatedly
Step 4: kill their spawn
Step 5: repeat step 2-4 until godhood achieved
One thing I've been thinking about this "Hell Mode" thing is that the no level cap might not even be much of a benefit depending on how much exp a human can expect to receive in their life time. Obviously it's likely going to work out here because it's the premise of the show, but if I was presented with this choice and wanted the most power, I'm not sure the no level cap difficulty would be ideal.
Assuming you want to excel at combat, anyway. If you don't care about fighting then I'd just go with easy to prevent an early death, and going with normal to fit in isn't bad either. Hell mode's masochistic 100x XP requirement is a huge gamble and not something I'd ever risk when going in blind.
I mean, say the weakest monsters are all worth only 1 XP each, and it's only his dogs that he can send out to hunt without constant instruction. He's got 16 dogs, and say they each kill 2 rats per hour and can be out hunting throughout all the serf fields for the 10 hours in the night when no one will see them.
That's a bit over 300 XP a day while he's just going about his normal serf and family duties.
He'd level up pretty quickly.
As for hell mode, it all depends on the level cap and how much higher level monsters will give him. It took 10 D rank monsters to hit level 2. And will take double that reach level 3. If c rank monsters only give around double the experience, Allan could grind for decades and still never come close to whatever the level cap is. But if higher ranks give exponentially more experience, hell mode could definitely be worth it
He had leeches/blood draining bugs and won within 2 minutes.
They concluded the fight from last episode in this episode in just two minutes.
He suddenly tried leeches and it worked.
That was how he killed the first Albaheron.
It was anti-climatic given the tension they built in last episode.
Learned how to barter/trade
Told his parents about his blessing
Kinda, sorta....
*Makes up bullshit about how the gods made him super smart and strong instead of him being an Isekai and can summon*.
I lol’ed.
Allen was also smart in realizing that whether the serfs succeed or fail in meeting their quota, it will result in more serf being recruited. I guess it's a video game so it doesn't have to make sense, but where are the serfs recruited from? Like would they come from other villages and why aren't they already part of a fiefdom?
Baron, noble as they are probably goes by "serf is serf, and i want more meat not bread, so lets get some farmers over to that boar village to hunt more boars" or something in that line of thinking.
Now I hope Allen starts a U.S. marines style military boot camp to break down the commoners and make them a fighting force.
Hopefully next episode he makes a number of interesting breakthroughs from grinding with all that extra MP.
I know his short-term goal right now is to help his parents and make money, but surely leveling up his summoning skills should open up more options/stronger summons to help with that, no?
Did his dad notice on sight when he came back leveled up?
Ah, the cut, okay.
We can't tell anyone about this, except Greda I have to rub his nose in it 🤣🤣

like usually cheap isekai always "1 gold same like blablabla yen" without any comparing value
on this anime, allen trying to get info how much money worth with barter, such a good concept
last time i see that good concept to introduce money value in isekai is from Log Horizon which telling audience money worthy from how much gold to spend for meal and inn per night, and how much gold they can get from goblin drop
