What is the Monogatari Watch Order?

Anyone know the monogatari watch order? From what I understand, it isn't a linear story and has different watch orders. My favorite anime is steins;gate, and I prefer the release order of steins;gate to the chronological order. With that in mind, what order should i watch it in?

Hi JackfruitNaive5348, it seems like you might be looking for an anime's watch order!

On our [watch order wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/watch_order) you can find suggested orders for a ton of shows (hopefully including the one you're looking for), as well as information that will help you decide on what to watch for the more complicated series *<cough>* Fate *<cough>*.

Everyone has their own choices but this one is the most popular [https://imgur.com/nfiEEn3](https://imgur.com/nfiEEn3)

Do you have a way to show me that isn’t imgur? It’s blocked in my country

Icapica2026-01-30 20:26

It's the same order that Keleox wrote in another comment here.

I like release order, with Kizu any time after Bake.

Im_the_Keymaster2026-01-30 19:10

Light novel order or anime release order.

SirHighground12026-01-30 19:12

Anime release order tbh, don't overcomplicate yourself. The Kizu movies can be watched anytime after the first season (Bake).

autistic_tsundere2026-01-30 19:14

Not really, there's just anime order and novel order, because some part of the anime got turned into a movie that got delayed. Also some arcs were skipped in the anime and later released as ovas. You can just google the novel release dates and watch the corresponding anime, or watch the anime in released order. It's that simple. There's not that much of a difference.

AnimeTA2242026-01-30 19:14

There's 2 and a half watch orders, release order, novel order and then an order that kind of mixes the two together.

Personally I'd recommend the novel order the 2nd series (Kizumonogatari) got released as movies a lot later than they "should have"

Bakemonogatari -> Kizumonogatari ->Nisemonogatari -> Nekomonogatari Black then White -> Monogatari Season 2 -> Hanamonogatari (this one can be moved up a little bit if you follow a strict novel order but it's not a huge deal either way) -> Tsukimonogatari -> Owarimonogatari S1 -> Koyomimonogatari -> Owari S2 -> Zoku Owarimonogatari -> Monster/Off season

It's just release order. The story is told to reveal things in a specific order even if non-linearly. The only actual choice is where to place the Kizumonogatari movie trilogy, which can be watched immediately after the first Bake series.

Mmm not sure why it removed
I'll try again

**Bakemonogatari** (there are 12 episodes + 3 OVA)

**Kizumonogatari**

**Nisemonogatari**

**Nekomonogatari (Black)**

**Monogatari Second Season**
*-Tsubasa Tiger*
*-Mayoi Jiangshi*

**Hanamonogatari**

**Monogatari Second Season**
*-Nadeko Medusa*
*-Shinobu Time*
*-Hitagi End*

**Tsukimonogatari**

**Koyomimonogatari**

**Owarimonogatari (Part 1)**

**Owarimonogatari (Part 2)**

**Zoku Owarimonogatari**

**Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season**

*-----------------------*

This is the order the novels were released. It's pretty straight forward (you just watch the season from top to bottom) with the exception of *Monogatari Second Season* where *Hanamonogatari* gets put in the middle. Realistically, if you watch *Monogatari Second Season* all the way through then *Hanamonogatari*, it's not a huge deal (I did this when I watched through it since I didn't know the correct order), though it does change how you interpret some of the events of the second half of *Monogatari Second Season* because of the knowledge you gain from *Hanamonogatari*.

Where does Monogatari: our love story fall on the list?

Keleox2026-01-30 22:10

It's a similar setup to Second Season.
You can watch it whenever you want, but make sure to watch the first six episodes of Mononogatari first to make sure you have all the context.

IntroductionRare52712026-01-30 22:11

Thanks I'll probably check this out after the senpai series
